Where to begin? I made the initial phone call to get an estimate for changing a few light fixtures and re-wiring a few switches. They quoted me roughly $250. I made the appointment for them to come out and they sent two guys, rather than the one they said over the phone. When the two fellas made the phone call to see if I was home, they said that they wanted to come early so they could knock off and go fishing. During completion of the work, one of the gentlemen broke a light fixture in my garage, to which he said he would be back to fix the following Monday. After the guys finished their work, they stood around for the completion of the hour making conversation when all they were doing was trying to go over so they could charge me for an extra hour. Fast forward to the bill; the bill came about two months later for an amount of more than twice what they originally quoted over the phone. I called to talk to a supervisor, who was extremely hard to get in touch with by the way, and he offered to lower my bill to what we originally agree upon over the phone. I inquired about my broken light fixture in my garage and the supervisor offered to call me back to set up an appointment for them to come back out to fix it, free of charge, which was nice. However, he never called, so I have yet to pay them for their original services. All of this happened back in June of 2008. Well, just last weekend I recieved court documents from John Houchin, the owner, stating that he was taking me to small claims court for the outstanding balance. Not once did they call to inquire about my payment, or lack thereof. This "businessman" made no attempt to collect the money on his own, instead he would rather waste a judges time and charge me the court costs of disputing his claim. I WOULD NEVER TRUST THESE MISFITS TO CHANGE A LIGHTBULB. Please dont make the mistake of hiring these idiots for anything.

Company was selected for me by my home warranty. When I spoke with Jackie on scheduling, she was very nice, patient and helpful. She didnt even seem to be affected by my scatterbrainess ( I know thats not a real word) with trying to buy and sell a home. On Day of service, or what I thought was the correct date, I called to confirm time of service because I thought they were late. Come to find out, they were actually scheduled for two days later and I had just put it in my calendar wrong. It was the plumber from another company that was supposed to be at my house and was late. Jackie called me about an hour later to see if I would like for the electrician to come out that day. Since I was home. They had an opening in their schedule. I was very happy that they called me to see if they could come out early. Jackie was very pleasant on each occasion. I even complimented her on the phone about how nice and helpful she had been. She seemed quite appreciative so I thought I do an online review as well. (And I am not one to do reviews online.) The electrician, Tim C. , was very professional and kind. They resolved our electrical issues and picked up after themselves. I would use company again. Even if not through my home warranty.

Had a friend recommend Houchin. Called up to have them do some work and the lady that answered was very rude and unpleasant. I didnt end up scheduling anything that day. I decided to give it a second try since my friend spoke so highly of the tech that came out to her house. Called again and she was once again very rude. This time I got her name for a review later on. Very surprised a company would have someone so rude being the one to represent them. If Mr. Houchin ever reads reviews then he needs to talk to a Jacque. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Never got to have a tech come out and maybe they are professional and do good work but good luck getting past their rude receptionist. Wrote a review on Angies list also and the contact is Jacque Roberts. Noticed a review from a Marvin Roberts on here. Looked her up on Facebook and Marvin is her husband. So his review is fake and biased. Makes me wonder how authentic any of five star reviews are on here. Gonna see if Google will remove his review.

Houchin is a wonderful company. I have a commercial real estate business. I am always looking for a honest, hardworking company to get a job done. Houchin has always done the job correctly the first time. They are knowledgeable, polite and follow through with completing the job efficiently and effectively. They are a locally owned company, which is an added bonus. There prices are fair and their work is excellent. Try them, you will use them again.

Wow, what a waste of time. I called for an estimate and they completely blew me off. I waited 1/2 the day Friday and all day Monday and no one either showed up or called. They didnt respect the time or cost involved by me waiting for them, and didnt respect me as a person by calling me or showing up. After reading these other reviews, I probably wouldnt have called in the first place, but now Ill be sure to read here first.

We had ongoing problems with this company for over a year. The original work was done incorrectly and we had people come out multiple times to fix it but they did not. Then they tried to charge us again, made threatening phone calls to my wife and promised court action if we did not pay. They ended up not charging us but we will never use again. Not Recommended.

The best service that we have had in a very long time. Had Chris help us. He was informative and so helpful and went so far above and beyond. This is old fashioned honest service that we didnt think that still existed, but Chris made sure we knew it did. Will use them again and again. Awesome company and awesome employee

Gave me fair price on a ceiling fan install on an 18-20 foot ceiling, but scratched my LCD TV while walking out with the old fan (downrod assembly hit it) and claimed they "couldnt have done it." Electrician was supposed to come by today to look at the scratch, have failed to hear back from him about it. Ehh.

Ive had them at my house a half a dozen times and have always been extremely happy with their work. From installing can lights, light fixtures, running hot tub power, to changing outlets. Highly recommend them

Ive only used Houchin twice but each experience was wonderful. The tech shows up right on time, the service is completely satisfactorily & the bill comes in the mail a week later.
