DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM. They use bait and switch tactics to misrepresent the service theyre selling you and get you to sign up for a 52 week personal training session that you cant cancel without paying the gym several hundred dollars. Im currently trying to resolve this problem with unhelpful staff and corporate office. This gym is mediocre for paying $30 a month. Theres a lot that the gym is trying to offer - machine and weights wise - in too small of a space, which makes the entire gym feel crowded even when its not. The class selection isnt that great either. Ive been a member of LA Fitness for about 3 months. I just moved to the area and wanted to join a gym. This new gym was appealing to me because it would be cleaner with reliable machines. I also figured that the staff would be good at dealing with new clients, as I had never signed up for a gym membership before. I signed up and even did the personal fitness assessment. I talked to a guy about personal training and after everything was explained to me I thought it would be a good idea because it seemed affordable and I could cancel my month to month billing at any time. What I unknowingly did was sign up for a 52 week personal training program. The salesman told me that I could sign up for 25 minute training sessions which were discounted deeply right now because the gym was brand new. He said that the average time people used personal trainers were for 10 months - to see and solidify results. Again I thought everything was reasonable and I could cancel at any time. At no point did he mention that it was a year long program. Had that been the case I wouldnt have signed up on the spot but explored different options to try out the service because I was truly interested in trying it. You also sign up on the computer so any fine print is very hard to read. If you look at the file they email you on your phone it just comes up as a fill form with no information in it. You have to be on a computer to read the copy you actually signed...with zoom to see the fine print. I soon realized that training sessions were just okay and I enjoyed working out on my own much more than the training and the money spent wasnt worth it. Ive recently tried canceling this with both this location and the corporate office. I learned that if I wanted to cancel I would have to pay $700. The woman I spoke to offered to "throw a few extra sessions my way" and suggested that "may there was someone else would I could give the sessions to". Aside from that my best bet would be to move to an area where there was no LA Fitness in a 25 mile (50 miles when talking to corporate) radius. Im now filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in NJ. If this happened to you too I encourage you to file a complaint... after doing some research on canceling this I found out LA Fitness is notorious for this bait and switch tactic and this gym is participating too. I ultimately say avoid this gym all together because its honestly not worth the hassle of what Im going through right now. I plan on canceling this personal training bs and then canceling my membership all together. This has been a NIGHTMARE for me.

Btw, its not only a scam when it comes to personal training, there is flat out theft going on. I was PT at LA FITNESS for a year and a half and I know all the shady stuff that happens behind the scenes. First off, they do scam you into paying more per session than others. I had a client paying $45 a session, three days a week, and for a full year. I had another client with the exact same amount is sessions, but paying only $20 a session. Also they flat out steal. You may think that having a password that only you know makes it impossible to steal. You are wrong. You are allowed to no show a client (which is a loss of a session and the PT gets their money) twice with no over site. On the third one, it gets red flagged and the only person who can allow the third no show is the GM and they do it all the time. And after the third gets authorized you can no show a client again twice before it gets red flagged. Flat out theft. Yet, the only thing that is good, is that you are able to change trainers. most of the time its a crapshoot, but there are some amazing and dedicated PT people who really are fantastic. You just have to keep trying trainers till you get one.

In my experience these last 10 months going here outside of peak gym hours (basically ALWAYS out of here before 4PM.) Im not sure about the canceling processes people are complaining about in a few reviews because I have no need to. Very spacious with plenty of machines cardio and free weights. I left one gym in the area because of how small of a gym it was and always felt as if I was two steps away from tripping over someone else working out. Not many squat and or power racks as the one person said but Ive only had to actually wait for one to open up a couple of times. Keep in mind I refuse to go to any gym in this area during later times because of the sheer volume of people that live in the area. My only complaint is the dumbbells, which there are 2 of every set, only goes up to 100 lbs. Other than that nice and clean and not a bad atmosphere.

Although its an decent place to workout, their personal training is a scam. They say no contract for membership but bind you into a year-long personal training membership and you have to pay a large sum to cancel. I agree with the other reviews who say its a bait and switch tactic. Also, trainers are constantly leaving, so you probably cant stick with a trainer for more than a couple of sessions. I would have liked to continue this gym if it was not for the bad (and very costly) experience with personal training.

Upon deciding to cancel my membership, I called and was told I needed to come in for cancellation. I went in on my day off and completed the cancellation process,as per the supervisor Mike. Its been almost a year later, only to find my card is still being charged monthly! To make matters worse, they refuse to refund my money. Customer service here is appalling. My recommendation would be to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Customer care is lacking here. Never again!!! Dont trust Mike. Hes a fraud.

- Has not had cables for weeks. - Much of the equipment is broken to some degree and has been for a long time. - Benches are skinny (bad for anyone benching who has a wide back). - Does not have circular plates (those who deadlift will understand) The list goes on. Save your money and find another gym in the area.
