I originally contacted Steve Whitman Roofing & Siding in mid September 2016 for an estimate on replacing our roof and installing new vinyl siding. A time was set for them to inspect my home and provide me with the estimate. Dave Kawczynski was the person who arrived, on time, and inspected the exterior of my home. After taking some measurements and informing me of my options, Dave was able to provide me with my estimate in writing. At that point I had one additional company coming to provide me with an estimate (I obtained 3 estimates for the job) so I explained I would contact him, either way, after I received the last estimate. After receiving the last estimate, my oldest daughter was involved in a mv accident and totaled her car. I explained the situation to Dave and advised him I would contact him when I was ready to proceed with the job. In late January 2017 I contacted Steve Whitman Roofing and Siding and again spoke to Dave K. I explained that I was ready to proceed with the job. Dave quickly sent me revised copies of the contract (with no change in the roofing cost and only a minor change in the siding cost.) Within 2 weeks of signing the contract, the appropriate permits were acquired from my hometown and a date was set for the roofing installation. Steve Whitman workers contacted us the day prior to their arrival to confirm the date and to make sure we would have our vehicles removed from the driveway for the dumpster they would have arriving. The following day workers arrived promptly and began the job. The roof installation, including the removal of 3 skylights that had been leaking, went smoothly with no issues. Once the roof was complete I signed the contract for the siding. Because of the leaking skylights I knew there would be damage that would need to be repaired but wasnt aware to what extent. Again, after the permit was acquired from the town for the siding, the job was scheduled. Things went smoothly until the area by the leaking skylights was reached. The damage was so extensive in that area that a carpenter was needed to repair it before the siding could be replaced. Dave and Mike from Steve Whitman made arrangements for a builder they work with to respond and check the job. The estimate the carpenter provided me was fair for the job and within 2 days the carpenter was able to respond and make the repair. (I should note that before the carpenter could respond we were expected to have a major snow storm. Mike, the on-site supervisor for Steve Whitman Roofing & Siding made sure the area was sealed up and even sent me photos of such to keep me from worrying.) After the carpenter finished the repair, the siding was finished and the new gutters and shutters were installed. The workers cleaned up daily and when they were completely finished with the job, you could never tell they had been there - except for the new roofing, siding, gutters and shutters. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with from Steve Whitman Roofing & Siding was fantastic. From Dave the salesman to Mike the job supervisor, his workers (who were polite and quiet when working) to Mary in the office, everyone made this experience easy and painless. I have heard horror stories from family and friends about jobs like these going way over the estimate and costing thousands of dollars more then expected. This wasnt the case with this company which completed the job at the estimated cost. (I forgot to mention their estimate was the middle one of the three I received and was only $500 more then the lowest one but I felt more confident with Dave after speaking with him than the lowest estimate company.) I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a company that does outstanding work and provides superb customer care.

i chose this company because I trusted the man who came to give me a quote and said he was going to be project manager and supervisor on the day of... the day of the work he was only here 20% of the time. I came outside and caught his guys using cheaper material than i had been quoted at so I called him to get him back here and it was just chaotic to get them to stop and do the right thing... which they never truly did, they just kept working around the wrong and claiming it was fine. Im sure it technically is fine, its just not what I paid for. They also did not remove all the rotted boards, my father went up there and stomped his foot to drill a hole in the boards that needed to be replaced of I couldve fallen through in 10 years because the right thing wasnt done initially. this is not a discount company by any means, you are paying premium rates for the trust of having a good company and in my personal experience I was didnt see the value. that being said, they have kept a very clean construction site and did do a very nice job in the end, i just feel like I had to beg and plead for them to do the right thing and they had really hoped i wouldnt notice they werent. EDIT: I claimed they kept a clean job site. I was wrong. ive gotten 2 flat tires since this job was completed because of the nails they left all over my yard and driveway.

I had my roof replaced by Steve Whitmans professionals a few years a go and have been very satisfied with their work. In fact, the work was so good that we had my parents hire them, too. Work was completed and they are also very happy with the work and the clean-up. So consider this two five-star reviews.
