I have been "friends" with Glen Goldbaum 72 on Facebook for a few months and have admired the hair art that is produced in the confides of the exposed brick building in Red Bank. I decided to take the online friendship to the next level and went in on Tuesday to book an appointment and get a hair consultation. From the moment I stepped into the salon I knew that I had found my hair a new home. I had a hair consult with Linda - an adorable pink-haired gal. Linda was thoughtful, and patient with me as I tried to articulate exactly what it was that I wanted. I knew that I wanted different, but not drastic. Funky, but not crazy. Easy to maintain, but not mundane. I booked my appointment for Thursday. I arrived at G.G. on Thursday 10am for my cut, partial highlight, and gloss session with Linda. I was received warmly by the ladies at the front desk and by Glen himself. I took a seat and shortly thereafter, Linda was combing, cutting, dying her way through my mane. The result, aside from gorgeous: White Belgian Chocolate highlights, pink tips, and an easy to maintain anything but mundane shaggy haircut with a side swept bang - LOVE. Linda created something beautiful out of my fragmented hair thoughts/desires; she was able to see the vision that was inside my head even though I couldnt fully articulate it. Love the salon. Love the staff. Love Linda. Love my new hair!

From the moment you walk through the door, the experience is perfection: there is a palpable energy from the helpful, knowledgeable staff and most importantly, stations are commanded by NY quality stylists and colorists. As a former NYC resident, I was a client at both B & B and SFA salons, but, coming back to NJ, I struggled for years to find a salon where I could trust my stylist to design a look for my stubborn, very straight and baby-fine hair. I can say, without hesitation, Chelsea (my colorist) and Glen (my stylist) know what to do for my hair more than I do! I have received more compliments about my hair during the year, or so, Glen has been cutting it than I have in my entire life! What I find most valuable is that the style is something I can also achieve after leaving the salon and, between cuts, my hair looks great as it grows- the true test of a good cut! Pricing is fair for the products and services (I have paid more and I have paid less but never had an equaled result.) As I look around the salon, each stylist creates an amazing look for their diverse client base; I think any chair at GG72 would be a great experience. Glen is the genius behind this hip, invigorating yet relaxed and unpretentious culture at GG72. It’s worth the half-hour + drive for me to get to his salon. He is a master at what he does!

Every time I go in to Glens salon, I walk out completely satisfied. Which is really incredible - I like it when I can completely trust my hair stylist and let them be creative, and have a fun, funky haircut. At the same time, I dont want it to be something that may need a huge amount of upkeep. Ive seen Chelsie every time Im there, and shes fun, kind, and considerate of my needs with hair, but she always makes a bold choice and I love it. The whole staff, Glen included, will come over and talk to you and make suggestions about both cut and color; Glen once picked out a shade of brown for lowlights for me that matched my eyes, and I was really impressed with the results! The mood is fun and funky, but not at all intimidatingly trendy. The products they use are also incredible - my hair is very fine, and Ive walked out of places with so much product in my hair it was like an oil slick in an hour - never at Glens! Its really a fabulous place, and I reccomend it to everyone I know who is looking for a salon!

Ive been going to Glen Goldbaum Salon for awhile now. My daughter and I have both had our hair cut, dyed, high lights, make-up. Sometimes Glen forgets he extends discounts for the following visit. In addition, Ive spent quite a bit of money on our hair and hair products. Once Glen promised me for a free make-up session, but must of forgot, and I didnt know how to ask me. But other than that the people are friendly and warm. The service is could be a little better. Once I went with my daughter to get her hair and make-up done for her Junior Prom, and the girl who was doing her hair, stopped in the middle, so she can do another girls hair who also was going to a prom. I really thought that she could have told the other girl that she would get to her after she finished my daughters, in addition, my daughter was also getting her make-up done, and the other girl was only getting her hair done. But overall its a nice place. I would recommend it to friends.

I met Glen and his staff through the Suited for Success program out of Lunchbreak in Red Bank. Walking into his salon was dazzling. The salon looked like something off of television, decorated in that way that was comfortable but on trend with exposed brick and lots of natural light. Everyone was so polite and went out of their way to make me as comfortable as possible. They immediately brought me water with ice in a real glass, such pampering! Glen and his stylist Linda sat me in the back and evaluated my hair, went over what they wanted to do, asked my opinion, and put me at ease. While cutting Linda let me be quiet and didn’t force me to talk, simply explaining what she was doing. Then told me how to style it curly before blowing it out to show me how it looked straight. The experience was amazing and I think everyone should be cut by this salon at least once.

Kristie cut my hair two days ago and Ive never received more compliments in a 48 hour span. I am 24 years-old, work in a hip neighborhood in NYC, and am very protective of my hair, but wanted to try a new place. I was able to get an appointment an hour after I called. When I met Kristie, I told her my style and what I liked and disliked about my current hair and let her be creative with the cut, as long as it was very short. She listened to everything, and I left with a huge smile on my face. The salon is cool and edgy, but very welcoming and comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Working in NYC, I have a lot of options for salons, but of yet, none have provided style and service like Goldbaum. I highly recommend this salon, and Kristie in particular.

As a city lover, I love how the ambiance of this salon has an urban vibe even though its "down the shore". I went here for the first time through my best friends referral despite being an hour away from home. I was greeted by a friendly staff. Katie started me off with a wash which included a longer than normal scalp massage which left me extremely relaxed. Keelin cut my hair - she is a hair magician. I didnt feel rushed at all and she even took the time to show me how to blow it out multiple ways. I have gotten so many compliments on my cut and the best part is that she cut my hair so it doesnt have to be styled if I dont have time (which is almost always). Cant wait to go back for color. This was definitely worth the trip for me.
