Terrible service and a terrible experience. Took my car there for an oil change and to have my "Check Engine" light looked at. I had the computer code checked at AutoZone and they told me it was something to do with the coolant system. It was my mistake in not getting the code directly from them. Midas charged me $105 just to do the same thing that AutoZone does for free. Absolutely ridiculous. So I had them check it out since I was driving back to Michigan (650 miles) in 3 days for Thanksgiving. After about 4 hours (I didnt wait there), they called me back and told me it was something to do with the thermostat, which I told them to replace. They also talked me in to changing the hoses around the coolant area since they were worn. When I came back to pick it up, the total was $385. I drove the car back to Michigan, but when I got there, I noticed I was leaking coolant. I took it to a mechanic in Michigan and it turns out one of the new hoses that were installed wasnt clamped tight enough, so my coolant was almost bone-dry. I couldve had a major issue had my coolant run out while driving that trip. So I get that all taken care of and drive back out to NJ. Not 2 days after I get back, the "Check Engine" light comes on again. I take it back to AutoZone to have it checked and they tell me its the same code as before. I write it down and take the car back to Midas and tell them they need to fix it. They take the car in and call me 3 hours later and tell me it is ready to be picked up. I get up there and they feel the need to explain to me what was going on with that code; which is nice, but I really dont understand car jargon all that well. In the end, they tell me that the sensor in the coolant area is faulty and that they replaced it. I didnt tell them to do this. The manager wanted to charge me another $115 to keep the new sensor on. Since I knew that there wasnt a critical problem having this faulty sensor, I told them to put the original back on. Unfortunately for me, they had the car running for a good half hour before I got there, so it had to cool down. I waited 45 minutes for them to change the sensor back out b/c they installed it without asking. Absolutely ridiculous. Now, I know that the auto maintenance business is one where, if you develop a good relationship with a customer, they are likely to come back to you for all of their service needs. This guy that runs this shop is obviously just in it for the money and to make friends. I will never be returning here and I suggest you dont even bother considering it. Terrible service and inept mechanics. STAY AWAY!

If I could I would leave ZERO stars. The owner operator is unprofessional and a crook. Long made short... I had my BMW 328XI front brakes done here at this Midas. The quote was $100 less than the BMW dealer for after market parts and $100s of dollars over the Original BMW parts. I should have taken notice of this RED FLAG. Dealers typically charge more because of higher Hourly Labor rates. So Midas, Sam the owner, quoted me $100s higher than BMW on original parts, but since I was saving $100 or so for after market parts and he assured me they will perform the same I opted for that fix. Within 8 months my steering wheel and entire car is shaking when I brake. So I bring the car back to Sam. I had 2 seperate mechanics look at my entire braking system and the car before returning to Midas. One was a private mechanic and the other was the BMW dealer. Both concluded that it was the front brakes and primarily the front rotors are warped. I looked into the brand of rotors Midas, Sam,used and he charged me 2x more than the original part cost right off the bat as I looked at my receipt of the work done back at the end of January. RED FLAG...and basically theft. Thats besides the point. This shows his integrity I believe the fact he will more than double the price of the parts he using to make a profit off a customer instead of charging only for labor on top of the parts cost. He inspects my car brakes. He tells me there is nothing wrong with the rotors, but since BMW say there is a sever problem with them he will redo the work/service he performed. He gives me the offer of either having the same equipment and parts he used the first time (which warped and failed) for the same price I paid the first time minus the cost of the brakes pads OR I can get original BMW parts and equipment for nearly double the cost. So MIDAS, aka Sam the owner, wants me to pay for a service job 2x!? A service job that failed within 8 months after. This is the braking system. This is dangerous to mess up. I have contacted MIDAS customer service with the complaint. I will be filing a lawsuit against this MIDAS location pending the customer service call back I am expecting. What kind of CROOK would charge a customer 2 times for the same exact job that THEY MESSED up and failed?! Customers BEWARE of this MIDAS location. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Went to Midas on Totowa 46 west bound, to get an oil change when the goofy attenedant comes out with some bull that my Jeep has a special filter that is going to cost an extra $7.99. Now Ive had this car for two years, Ive had the oil changed in Midas in West Caldwell and Jiffy Lube in Pine Brook. Never have i heard any of this Bull about a special filter! Well this is my first time and my last time here. Not because of the $7.99 , but, the fact that no other place that I have ever been to had an ala cart oil change where they itemized the process of a simple oil change!! Completely ridiculous and a little shady if you ask me!!! Went in thinking I was spending $19.99 for the oil change and tire rotation. Wound up spending $36.99!! I think we all know whats gping on here! Con Artist!

I went to the dealer they told me that my car needed brakes all around and calipers so I figured why not go to midas and see what they would tell me . When I got there , Sam the owner was very polite, professional , friendly he took my car lifted it up and called me to show me what was going on . I explained to him what the dealer told me and he only changed my front brakes because the back were fine and I didnt need any calipers . And he gave me a lot of coupons and discounts without me even asking . I felt so welcomed and the rest of the staff are really nice . My car is running great ever since I would definelty go back again and bring all friends and family . Thank you midas for the honesty .

I had called them before bringing the car in. Asked to quote me for changing all the break pads and rotors. They quoted me $360.I bring the car in , they call me with a $760 quote. I told them Ill take it somewhere else, so put it back. They force tied the log nuts so bad, that the other mechanics had to flex of the nuts. So I paid $28 for this( check/inspection fee) and had to pay another $25 for the lug nuts. And time wasted. Just a note, one can purchase a full set of pads and rotors for $110-$150 online. Takes about 1 hr of service to replace. Im not willing to pay $600 for 1 hr of labor. Thanks Daye and Sam for the lesson well learned! :))) LOL Godspeed.
