Do you like paying tons of money for a service youd end up not getting? Do you enjoy taking days off work just so you can sit around and wait for plumbers whod be 7 hours late or not show up at all? Do you want to be stuck with no functional bathroom fixtures after youve spent $1,000+ to have them installed? If so - hire Hofmeister Plumbing. I made that horrible mistake. I hired Alan for a small bathroom project. He was supposed to "install 4 bathroom fixtures" (a tub, a shower panel, a toilet and a sink.) And let me tell you, hes awesome at making false promises. First his crew came to install the tub. They found 5 different things to whine and complain about, despite having my bathroom renovation specialist bring in the tub straight to the bathroom for them. So all they had to do was "settle it in." They ended up flooding my neighbor downstairs with their nonsense. Then I spent one lovely day stuck at home, waiting for Alans crew for 7 hours... Once they finally showed up it was 4:20 p.m. (and my building only allows construction work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.) They "installed" the toilet. And by that I mean that I unwrapped the whole thing, moved it into the bathroom myself and they simply hooked up its back. They didnt even caulk it! Now dont expect Alan to ever pick up his phone when you try calling him. But he decided that "we owe him money for the first part of the project", so he drove 20 miles at 11:30 at night in the pouring rain just so he can collect the $. His crew was supposed to come a third time to hook up our sink and shower panel. Now this is the best part - after hiding half the morning, Alan finally decided to text my husband, informing him that nobody will be coming over to finish the job. I had to have my bathroom remodeler hang the shower panel. And I hired another plumber to install the sink. I guess my small project seemed insignificant enough so Alan couldnt be bothered with it. People like him make my hackles rise beyond imagination. But the joke is on him, because I now need a plumber for 2 other (bigger) bathrooms, as well as a commercial project. Had everything gone well with my bathroom, I couldve hired him again. Oh, well, I guess he doesnt like money that much after all.

My central A/C units stopped working. Spoke to Hofmeister representative on Tuesday afternoon. Repair person told me they would be working in my town the following morning and they would come by to diagnose the problem. Since he was already in Cresskill, there was certainly no great inconvenience to come to me. The repair person was there the following morning, as agreed. In the interim between speaking to them on Tuesday and when the repair person came by, I went online and was able to diagnose the problem. I was pretty confident in the diagnosis. So when the repair person came by, I told him what I thought it was and he was able to do the repair by replacing a $15-$20 part in about 15 minutes. He then gave me a bill for $350. (reduced from $375 because I asked). While the repair was done as I had hoped, in my opinion the charge was outrageous.
