I have been a member of Crossfit Hamilton for 16 months now. I tried everything, every type of workout, regular gyms, spin, cardio bootcamps, kickboxing, etc- you name it I tried it. And always became bored. I knew that I could go further but kept getting bored and finding myself starting over again. I was extremely reluctant to try Crossfit and was intimidated at first until you realize that you go at your own pace. I thought that I had to be "in shape" before I walked into a gym like that. But it wasnt that way at all. I learned that the last to finish, gets the most cheers. The coaches all seem to know exactly when to push yourself or back off. Between the amazing coaching and the fellow members always cheering you on & pushing you further than you thought you could go, but in a safe and knowledgable way. There are a lot of negative things out there about Crossfit- But at Crossfit Hamilton, the coaches are always watching out for us and making sure we dont injure ourselves & are always making sure that everyone scales movements appropriately and safely. I can go to any coach at any time and ask advice or guidance and trust that I am getting the best advice- whether its about weight or scaling or nutrition, or anything. I have found an athlete inside me that I havent known for a long time. I am doing things I never thought that I could do and every week I look forward to improving and reaching goals that I have set for myself & love looking back to where I was 16 months ago. I have found that this has affected my life even outside of the box. My workouts are no longer a "chore"; they are a challenge. If you are looking for that change and that challenge, I highly recommend Crossfit Hamilton.

About 1.5 years ago, I was looking for a way to get stronger so that I could improve my running times. Since the standard gym didn’t really appeal to me, I went to check out CrossFit at a suggestion of a friend. I had a list of criteria (distance, price, etc.) when I began my search, but the most important one was the coaching and experience. Even though CrossFit Hamilton (CFH) was a bit of trek for me, I put it on my list because they seemed to have the coaching I was looking for. It was the last box I checked out (only because it was the furthest), and I really did save the best for last. Let’s start with the coaching at CFH. Beginning with the free intro class that I took with Dave, through Foundations with Joey, and now the regular classes with all the other great coaches, they have always put an emphasis on 1) proper form and technique, and 2) scaling appropriately. The coaches are very knowledgeable and experienced, so they know how to push you beyond what you think you can do, but still within your ability and with proper form and technique. All the coaches are super friendly, and will help answer questions whether it’s about the (fantastic) programming, movements, or even nutrition. Now, the community… the people here are friendly, welcoming and supportive. You feel that strong sense of community the moment you walk in the door. You will make new friends because people actually take the time to get to know each other here. Their encouragement will make you want to be a better you. Since I’ve joined CFH, I’ve ran my fastest half marathon, gotten a lot stronger and became friends with a great bunch of people along the way. CrossFit Hamilton is really an amazing community to be a part of!!

Two years at CFHamilton and I have never looked back. Coming to the box as a runner, I wanted something more, and I was scared!! There was me with my little chicken arms looking at these amazing athletes who could lift heavy weights, pull themselves up to a bar with little effort, and frankly, doing unbelievable things with their bodies that I never thought possible. But you know what, I quickly learned that it didnt matter. I was there for me and purely me. I know that sounds selfish, but thats what crossfit is.....you setting your goals and striving to reach them with the support of everyone around you. Soon enough, your fellow CFH family knows how hard you have been working to get your first double-under, pull-up, push-up, box jump, just to name a few of the many skills that just help you to become a better athlete. At ALMOST 50 years old.....I would never, ever be part of a traditional gym again. Why not? Because CrossFit gets you through those days that you just dont feel like you have anymore to give. Well......CFHamilton does anyway. The people at this box are truly a special group. They care about you from the moment you walk through the door, and they will always make sure you are achieving your goals without injury. So for those naysayers who say that CrossFit causes injuries and yada yada yada....perhaps, but not CrossFit Hamilton. Our coaches will never allow it, because they care too much about your success as an athlete. Im not too proud to say that it has changed my mind, body and soul. I feel terrific, I look terrific, and I have developed friendships that I know will last a lifetime. Give it a try....try CFHamilton......

I started off at Crossfit Hamilton a little over 2.5 years ago. After competing in NCAA national level athletics, the standard gym did not appeal to me and I found myself lacking some motivation to workout. I tried CHF on a whim and have really enjoyed it since. After coming from a standard gym (I didnt even last 6 months there), where most people walk around with their headphones in and dont really make eye contact with you, I think I was most surprised on how completely opposite the Crossfit community at CFH was (and still is). The leadership and coaching at Crossfit Hamilton really sets it apart from the other CrossFit boxes in the area. The guidance from Dave, Joey and all of the coaches at CFH are great. They really know how to push each individual without sacrificing good technique. However, CHF is more than great coaches, it is a great community. The challenging workouts are always fun and everyone is extremely supportive and encouraging. I recently returned to the box after an extended absence when my wife became fed up with her standard gym and wanted to try something new. She has been extremely happy since joining and cant believe she didnt try CHF earlier. Despite growing membership, the friendly atmosphere of the box has remained the same and I think it is a testament to what Dave and the rest of the coaches have dedicated their time to set up.

Working out at Crossfit Hamilton made me feel the same way Goldilocks did when she sat down in Baby Bears chair, "It was just right!". I have worked out my entire life and have always liked trying new things. I started doing Crossfit in 2011 and loved it. Over the past 3-4 years I have tried a few different boxes and liked them all but Crossfit Hamilton is something special. I have struggled for years with improving my technique for a few exercises and the coaching at CFH has given me hope that I may actually be close to finally getting it down. Joey Dill and Dave Bonanni possess all the qualities of a great coach. They are extremely knowledgeable, experts at giving helpful and appropriate cues and most importantly the most encouraging people I have ever come across. Because of the tone they have set, the members at CFH are a pleasure to work out with; serious about what they are doing, eager to cheer each other on and absolutely no arrogance. If you have been doing Crossfit and feel you have plateaued or have lost your enthusiasm, come to CFH and get re-inspired. If you are considering starting Crossfit, get it right the first time and come to Crossfit Hamilton.
