Sorry in advance that this is so long, but I feel like its a story worth telling. It was a good gym for my needs, but when I had to cancel for medical reasons, they made me jump through so many hoops. First, I called in to cancel and they told me Id have to make an appointment and immediately put me on hold. I figured this was some kind of stunt, so I went in personally on a weekend (because I work during the week, go figure) and they confirmed that, yes, I would need to make an appointment. Okay, fine, so I make an appointment, but apparently, theyre booked up solid at a time that works for me, so I have to schedule a time that is in the middle of the day during the middle of the week. I show up during my lunch break, wait around for about 5 minutes after my "appointment" while the manager chats with a member before I explain that yes, I cant work out for a while because I have to have a medical condition taken care of and, no, I wouldnt like to talk about it. While Im discussing this, another person comes to the desk wanting to cancel. When theyre told they need to make an appointment, they are understandably pissed. The manager says they dont have time just then. I mention to them that its a crap system that has been wasting my time, and they echoed this statement (what are the odds) and suddenly the manager has time to take care of their cancellation right after mine. Im told that I should have just called the manager directly, but oddly, their front desk staff wasnt told to relay this information to me the first time I called. Probably an oversight somewhere. Long story short, I feel like you can really tell how a business operates by how it treats people who need to cancel. If a business has a really good product, then theyll understand when a person has to cancel for a bit and make the process easy. As it stands, when my medical issues are resolved, I wont be coming back to NY Sports Club.

Me and my other friend made membership cancel appointment on date 7-11 5:30 and 6:00. We took our day off, and went there on time just try to get this thing done. The front desk girl told us the manager left for emergency thing, and she called everyone before she leaves. I checked my phone with no missed call in there. My friend was staying next to me checked her phone too. Of course she got the same. So the girl wrote me this number to tell them what happen and I will be able to cancel it on the phone. I took this picture with my doubts(fortunately). I called the number 3 times and finally the lady picked up my phone call and I been told that I am not allow to cancel it on the phone :) but that was not it. Then I call back to gym and tell them them to cancel the membership for me on the phone because it wasnt my problem to be unable to cancel it. So they let me spoke with the store manager, and she was yelling at me like:" I dont know what you talking about, I was here in the whole time, you either to make anther appointment or I have to hang up with you." Unbelievable right? People, look at here, I have no choice, if I want to cancel it, I need to make this stupid appointment and take other day off to go there and cancel it. If I did not take this picture to prove We came to the club and we were on time. We are going to be the Liars!!! 2 days salaries , extra month of membership fee charged of two people. Thanks New York Sports Clubs. You taught us how disgusting human being can be.

I have been a member for a few years now and I see the quality dropping. Little by little, things are dropping off. The most important one to me is that so many of the precor elliptical machines have problems and none have been fixed. Out of 8, only 2 have working TVs, a requirement for me. One of the 2 doesnt switch levels smoothly and gets stuck. #24 is the only one that works correctly. I have reported one of these problems a year ago. They have done away with paper towels, trash cans near the sinks and showers. No separate shampoo and conditioner. Its all one bottle so if you just want to condition, you can not. The vending machine for cold drinks if I forget to bring my water bottle never works. It m ight work. The last time it ate my money, I gave up. I couldnt get a refund because you have to see the manager and excuse me but I do work during the day when the manager does so thats why I dont try again. On another note I have only nice things to say about the staff, especially the tall woman with glasses whos lovely. She never fails to be helpful and friendly.

The 1 stqr is for their unfair and unloyal treatment. We first joined for $30/month which was OK, and a few months later it went up to 40$ for no reason, we let that go, but then what completely ticked us off is that NYSC offered new members a $19.99/month fee!!!! We have been loyal customers who go around 10 times MAX a month to the gym and travel a lot and never thought of freezing months where we were out of town - It was not fair for us, loyal customers, to be paying $40/month and you inviting members for $20/month! I now feel that its a trick to get members in and then increase the fees little by little which is not nice at all...

Ive been a member here about 6 months. Its an OK gym - equipment is good, though not as many machines as are needed. Some difficulty with a membership freeze while I was moving, but Corporate was able to fix it. (-1 star) The main problem (-1 star) is that the PA system blasts out Ads and a very short playlist- to the point that its hard to hear my own music that I (and most people) bring in. The staff dont seem to like it either and one told me that "Corporate" makes them turn it up, but Im not sure thats true. Regardless of whose responsible, I dont like being blasted with their brand of "music" and "Sports Club TV" ads.

The locker room was very clean, as were the showers. There was a problem in the ladies room and management had repair men taking care of the problem before the end of the business day. The machines are easy to understand and theres a lot of different equipment and classes here. Definitely the right kind of place to work out, get or stay in shape, train, get shredded...whatever it is you do - this is a great place to do it.

I love all the cardio machines and the nice showers with complimentary shampoo/soap etc.....hate that you have to pay to use towels(really?). Upstairs leaves more to be desired. The location is pretty awesome considering all the shopping and food around. Plus, theyre about to open a Vickys Secret next door so you can go get some sexy lingerie after you get your angel body at the gym;)
