I used to go to a local mechanic who pulled a fast one on me with my brakes. He told me he had installed new brakes, yet they made awful loud noises. I took this car to a Pep Boys one night on a whim and they showed me that the brakes were rusty and corroded. They had a fan ever since. I moved to Holbrook about 4 years ago and went to this Pep Boys. I use them for most of my car services: inspections, tires, oil changes, brakes and a few other problems. Are they the fastest place to get your car serviced? Probably not, but I grew up going to my parents mechanic who when you leave your car there, it is there for the ENTIRE day (8 hours) just for an oil change. Pep Boys can get you in and out if theyre not busy in about 45 minutes. They have a club which you can join that gives you a bunch of benefits including a free brake inspection which has been invaluable to me. If you get a flat tire and go to your Pep Boys when you are in their club, you will get a free patch (yes, FREE). Im very loyal to this store and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants some car service. If you have a problem with the work done, there are managers and a corporate number you can call to get the desired results. If you have a problem with a local mechanic and want some accountability....youre out of luck.

I am at this location right now. And I came here to do the oil change. Now I brought my own oil filter with a washer (helps to stop oil leaking out of the filter). Its a very small piece. Almost invisible when add to the filter. They have always used my OEM filter from mitshubishi unlike sears. Reason why I decided to write this review because of their honesty. Mechanic changed the oil and filter and took the car down from lifter. But he forgot to close the seal with the washer came with it. I spoke to the manager Don Golde and he told his mechanic to put the car back on the lifter and add the washer. They had to take the filter off again which probably cost them one extra quart of synthetic oil since some of it fell when they took off the filter. But they got the job done as they promised. They couldve just lied to me and say yes we added the washer and I would never find out. But they didnt lie. Very impressed and I would recommend this place to anyone who want to get the job done for the price they are paying. Thanks for being honest Don!

terrible place to work at. I felt and was UNDER PAID with 1 year and 6 months of automotive experience and a degree in automotive from vocational school.. management performance is poor and team work is poor too. they rush you and expect you to not mess up. water was going through compressor hoses and stores machine was always not working right... through out my career I learned from the best mechanics is that the best automotive service is when you take your time to make sure you do things right. this philosophy doesnt apply to pep boys Patchogue when working here.. they always want things fast and thats how things doesnt work out right. Lack of employees, lack of team work and doesnt feel like a team at all. Best businesses is when you work like a team. Lack of coaching , lack of a lot of things. I dont think pep boys will have a future if they continue to disappoint their customers and employees. I know im a great technaician and mistakes is happen. Its all about fixing it.

If you take your car here after reading the negative reviews then you deserve whatever problems arise from it. It wasnt so much the incompetency of the mechanic as much as the attitude of not being interested in helping to find out why there was a problem from the "Service Manager" after they get your money which made angry enough to act stupid on my part. However, being outright lied to upon bringing the car back to have them reset the adjustments made and knowing they did nothing to reset it because they did not move the car from where I had parked it, for some reason I noted the tire sitting on a piece of trash paper in the parking lot and it had not been moved. Also, the engine was not even warm enough to have been run if they had moved it recently. I know that engine very well to know this. Take your car to Meineke @ 536 Medford Ave. in Patchogue. These guys did what they were supposed to do i.e. - fix your car first time around.

This is the worst place ever. I should have never went here. I dropped off my car on Sunday to try and have these idiots figure out what was wrong with my car. I should have known something was wrong when today Im finally getting my car back. When I got it back it was worst than I when I gave it to them. I paid them 741 dollars and was told to leave the car there to Wednesday to have the Tech who worked on my car look at it again. Why did he clear my car for pick up if it was not safe to drive. When I approached the manager she shrugged her shoulders to me and told me to take it up with the head manager. I was disgusted. How can you release a car to me to drive that is not safe and tell me I need to take it back to a dealer because now its a computer issue. How does the computer issue occur after you work on the car. Im looking in to getting an attorney to fight this in caught. This place is the worst ever!! Beware.

I scheduled an appointment to have tires mounted and balanced on my car. Got there only to find that they never actually scheduled my appointment, they still got me in but annoying none the less. They never called me to tell me my car was done, so I called 3 times and never got an answer. I ended up just going there to find out my car was done. I got my car back and upon inspection found that both rims had been severely damaged around the outter edge during the process. I took it back and showed the manager. To their credit they owned up to it right away and said theyd take care of it. Im being told hes looking for a place to resurface my rims and fix the problem but thatll still be at least a day with no car and a lot of hassle. Depending on how professionally this gets sorted out will further impact my view of this shop, but I still can not recommend this work.

I understand that things happen that are unforseen. However when a customer books and appointment for 6 pm and the store realizes that they can not hold your appointment they should call you. This store did not do that. So I arrive to get my car worked on and the associate Jackie tells me that they are no longer taking cars. I tell her I have an appointment and she says sorry the online booking stinks and that I should have called the store and proceeds to chuckle. I asknow for the manager and she says that Rich is the manager and that he is not there. The front of theveryone house manager basically said that they areally short staffed, but couldnt answer why I was not notified why my appointment couldnt be held. I honestly felt like I was on an episode of Seinfeld. Any well run business would give you a call. I guess Pepper Boys is not a good business.
