My hot water pilot light went out and when I tried to restart it, it wouldnt stay lit. I called Mr. Rooter because I used them for plumbing issues in the past and was therefore a "Premier Member". They sent out a technician at the end of the day (arrived Tuesday around 5 p.m.) who pushed a reset button on the exhaust monitor and then relit the pilot light. Before he started he said it would be the normal service charge (he did not say how much that was and I did not know). Starting up the pilot light took him 5 minutes and then he spent another 10 to 15 minutes filling out his log and invoice on an Ipad. That is when I found out I was being charged over $200 for service only and no parts involved. And, this during normal business hours, not night or weekend emergency call! For the last two days, I have called Mr. Rooter to complain about the charge. The "appropriate person" is not available to take my call so I have left a message. So far no one has called me back. Im not surprised -- under the circumstances, I would be embarrassed to call back as well. Update ==== Last week I wrote a scathing review of Mr. Rooter because of cost to relight my water heater pilot light and not getting back to me when I called to complain. Pat of Mr. Rooter (my normal technician, but not the one that worked on the water heater) called this last weekend to apologize. Their answering service failed to pass my message on; he took full responsibility and said it was not an excuse, just an explanation of what happened. Based on prior experience with Mr. Rooter, I believe that is exactly what happened. Since the person that came out did not explain the service charge before he fixed the water heater (apparently against their policy), Mr. Rooter credited the entire service call back to my card. The reason I want to amend my review is the most recent experience is counter to all previous contacts with Mr. Rooter. My typical experience is a friendly phone conversation with a commitment to technician and time for arrival. If the tech is running late, they call and update the expected time. The technician has always told me in advance what to expect and the cost - no surprises. If I have to call them for any reason, they typically call back within a half hour. That is the level of service I have come to expect and the reason I was so angry after the last encounter. Their service recovery worked and I will continue to use them. I am confident to recommend them to others.

Worst experience ever! Plumber came to estimate the cost and to keep me informed of the problem, but before he do so he went ahead and supposedly fix the problem and charge over 250 dollars without confirming with me what he was doing. I ask him several times if the issue was resolved and he answer yes and the cost is 268 dollars. I also did not get a receipt and the time he was there was less than 10 minutes. He showed up at 1:15 in the afternoon and when I returned home from work it was approximately 11:48 pm. Inresult I used the toilet and the issue was even worst than before in less than 12 hours. I spoke with one of their employee over the phone by the Sam she assure me that the issue will be resolve that night and my call will be return shortly has soon as she got in touch with a dispatcher but she did not call. After waiting 15 minutes the story change, for the next day. On July 4th sometime after 9 am I recieved a call and it was disappointing to know that Sam gave me the wrong information and Im not a emergency case so they wont be able to come until tomorrow again! How is it even possible these people stay in business! Furthermore they have no problem taking someone elses honest hard working money without completely the task the right way, which supposedly was a free estimate, but it cost me almost 300 hundred dollars and promises.

When I called, an actual person answered and was very nice. He checked the schedule and called back in a few minutes & said someone could come in less than 2 hours. The service technician, Jean, came on time, was pleasant and very knowledgeable, and worked very hard to solve a difficult problem. He was very thorough in trying to diagnose the problem and clear the main drain pipe to my septic tank. For awhile, it looked like the pipe might be broken, and he carefully explained what would be necessary to do if that were the case. He was very patient, and answered all my questions. Ultimately, after several tries, the obstruction (roots that the camera couldnt see because of water in the pipe) yielded, and the pipe was clear. Jeans persistence saved me a lot of money. He explained how they could line the pipe to prevent future root problems, but he didnt push me to have it done. He worked for almost 3 hours, but Mr. Rooter charges by the job, not the time, so the price was exactly what was quoted to me up front. Im really impressed with the company, and especially with Jean.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing at 75 W Rd., Pleasant Valley, N.Y. 12569 they are a rip off and a bunch of thieves. They came out to replace a septic tank and also took me for a new leech field. Their techs are smooth talkers and one a Jamie Bushee took my 33 chevy three window coupe with a promise of coming back to level off and seed and to take some young sapling trees down for me. Within hours not even half the work was done and the car was flat bedded out. Upon my return from work the fence in my back yard was taken down and thrown over a hill and a flower bed was ripped up. My yard looks like a bomb hit it. They never contacted me, they were out and the boss Pat wasnt in. I left numerous messages and contacted Channel 12 news about these people and the news crew came out and took pictures and interviewed me. People beware of these dirt bags. I was charged an additional $2600.00 for them to come back out and finish the job which I was told in the beginning this was covered.......a grand total of $16,600.00 plus my 1933 chevy. They took advantage of a 62 yrs. old widow these scumbags.

Our plumber was Brandt Miller and he was excellent! Arrived on time and was very knowledgeable. We had a clogged pipe and he explained what had happened, options to fix it and how to prevent it from happening again in the future. He explained everything he was doing in a way that made it easy for me to understand which I really appreciated! he was very efficient! He got everything we needed done in a timely manner. He really went above and beyond and did an excellent job. I cannot believe how clean everything was when he left! At one point he had removed one of our toilets and shifted around the whole bathroom and when he was finished EVERYTHING was back in its exact place, clean and looked as though it had never been touched. I would recommend Brandt and this company to any of my friends and family members without hesitation. We had a major plumbing emergency that he completely resolved but also walked us through and made sure we understood what he did and how we could prevent it from happening again. Excellent customer service!
