Okay- here is the truth- from somone who knows the Port Washington Post Office very well. Recently- early retirement allowed 5 window clerks to leave. Carla,Ursula,Cathy,Mike,John. The PM has send 7 workers from the back operations to "window training" to help staff the window. Some of these workers have yet to receive a uniform allowance therefore "some" do not have uniform shirts. Now then as far as their professionalism-- Here Goes- ***- I want to see window clerks with Good Attitudes-- some at the window are abrupt but still know their jobs. Its one thing to send clerks for window training and its another thing to teach them to be friendly. "That" has to come from inside the person. Eddie is the smartest of the group. As is Hector. The others all seem to know their jobs but JJ is the most helpful of the group. Hes friendly with all the customers,not just the girls. As a senior citizen I can appreciate that. Its nice to hear someone call out your name when you walk in the lobby- makes me feel welcomed. I just wish that the rest of the group were more like the 3 Ive mentioned. thats the truth. Tom

The whole USPS is total FUBAR! Certified mail that is supposed to be delivered in two days, still has not arrived after seven days! Tracking information that is not only incomplete, but the information they do give you contradicts itself! Over an hour wait to get a real person on the phone! The automated phone system is harder to navigate than an oil tanker through a toilet bowl! And you might as well be speaking Swahili for all of the good it will do! This is the SECOND time the USPS has screwed me in as many months...... I will never use the USPS again for anything even mildly important!! I pay the extra cash for quick, quality delivery. and once again I loose out thanks to total incompetence! NEVER AGAIN! Next time Ill use UPS or FEDEX, the Post Office can go piss up a rope!

I was in the Port Washington lobby today and I noticed that only 3clerks were at their stations with 1 open station- this made me feel upset. But something happened that gave me a feel good moment. A woman standing in front of me was writing a letter to the Post Master - she allowed me to go ahead of her- she was writing a letter to the postmaster giving praise to a clerk named J.J. who took the time to help her with choosing and packing her parcel even though he was on his break time. She said he was amazing - that was the word she used. Its odd that right here in our post office we finally have someone who enjoys their work . Im not sure which one is JJ since I dont go to the Port Washington office often- but the next time I go in there, Ill check it out for myself. Dee Dee

We are constantly getting other peoples mail which makes me wonder where our mail is being delivered to. Also isnt there a dress code for mail carriers? It seems we have three different mail carriers sometimes 3 different ones a week and some of them dress in their own street clothes. It would be nice to know whos walking up to my house but with this lax attire I never know.

Got an email stating the delivery failed cause I was not home. LIES....was home all day. When I called the office said the package was still in the post office. NO one came to the house. Another trained professional clown.

In the last couple of months I must say that the Port washington post office has come together, working very hard and their customer service has improved tremendously. The lines move quicker.

Very slow and inefficient. Had a PO box there for years and often found other peoples mail in my PO box, which leads me to wonder what happens to my mail. Need an APC there desperately...
