Never got The $20 Amazon gift card , feel scammed and taking for a ride. After addressing my concerns at front desk they say : " Oh thats odd you didnt receive one but we cant do anything about it, you have got to call corporate". I stayed there couldnt believe what am I hearing , so you guys sign me up and now when you cant deliver its my problem. The deal was: whoever switched monthly payments to auto withdrawal (ACH) gets a gift card emailed after first payment . RFitness britched their part of contract by not giving me mine. Never the last , I called the number they gave me (corporate), its not even a customer service , its just bunch of voicemails of a heads of different departments, I wasnt able to speak to no one and now assuming there will be no gift card. Its not really about $20 gift card , I dont appreciate to be fooled like that. The gym is overcrowded, but for $19.99 membership a month and 2 blocks away from home it serves the purpose. The other thing that annoys me is staff , that guys usually run on a sprinter speed to a computer making sure its your photo popping up the minute you walk in, the fact they run like that makes me fee like a thief even though I know I dont do anything wrong it just looks weird and untrustworthy.

Just joined so this review is based on 2 days. Better than most gyms (and I have been at most). PLUSES: wifi, smootie bar, cycling room, group lessons room, pay garage, next to a Starbucks and Burger King, just off LIE., good, almost complete selection of equipment including a punching bag, rope machine, a rowing machine and a few I didnt see anywhere else, everything on one floor. ODD MOSTLY INEXPENSIVE OMISSIONS: no foam rollers "on order for next Jan", no stretch area (can use group room when no classes), no stretch machine, no steel table/boxes, no TRX, no Bogu Ball, stretch bands, only 4 shower stalls, no tall lockers, soap in shower is watered down, no wipe down tissue or towelette for cleaning contact areas of machines. Note this location opened until 11pm ; others closer to Manhattan are opened 24hrs or to midnite.

1st visit computer was down wrote my bar code ID down.(not a problem) 2nd visit-arrived MY phone had issues the retro app was not working.Give my ID so i could be checked in.Was told by staff you need to go call the retro which i originally joined to get bar code number. They could not provide me with the number or call because "each retro is independently owned"Second staff member came to assist after i was standing there over 10 mins trying to get my phone to work to find the Glendale retro contact info. She was somewhat more polite but insisted that is the only way i can get checked in and am not the only one who goes trough that.I really doubt thats how it is and if so then something needs to be done in order to check in for members who have joined at other retro.Overall 15-20 minutes wasted annoying, pissed, moodkiller.

Been a member of Retro Fitness for almost 2.5 years (Astoria) and have been frequenting this location for a solid month now. New machines are always a plus, but the limited space in which you have to work in leaves a lot to be desired (pun not intended). If you find yourself working out on a busy day, your usual 45 min workout will turn into 1.5 hours. If you drive, theres VERY LIMITED options for places to park. Youre either left with municipal parking on the other side of the block (long walk), paid parking garage downstairs, or street parking which is hardly ever available. The hours could also be better in my opinion. Coming from a 24 hours open gym to one that closes at 11pm eliminates a lot of flexibility. Retro Fitness in Rego Park gets 3 stars for Location, Quality of Equipment, and Cleanliness.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!! I joined the gym at Rego Park 3, THREEE blocks away from my apt. months later I moved to Greenwich CT 30 miles away!!!! i tried to cancel with the new gas bill. later ABC financial wrote back that I couldnt cancel because the nearest retro to my NEW address is 13 Miles away!!!!!!!!!!!! I explained to ABC, THAT I DID NOT WANT TO DRIVE FROM ONE STATE TO ANOTHER AND DRIVE 13 MILES JUST TO GO TO THE GYM. many emails and phone calls later I am stuck with buying out the contract FOR WIFE AND I. THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS GYM. SAME MACHINES EVERY ONE ELSE HAS!!. BY THE WAY, THE OTHER GYMS DO NOT HAVE CONTRACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SICHHHHH

Clean, friendly staff, wide variety of machines, and not over-crowded (excluding peak hours of course). HUGE plus that this gym is walking distance from my house! It is also only about two blocks away from a train station for any public commuters. Aaand theres a Starbucks next door :) Im not going to lie, the enrollment fee ($99) and maintenance fee ($40) is rather pricey. Definitely be on the lookout for when they have promos and dont be shy to call to ask. What upset me was that I had a discounted price on the enrollment fee, but just one month later, they released a promo where the enrollment fee is FREE. I cried a little inside.

I love Retro in general but I called Queens Blvd. 3 weeks ago and they told me the 2nd week of August, I called 2 weeks ago and they told me August 15th, I called today and they just told me that they will be opening later this week and they will be sending out an email to the members telling exactly when. Im really getting impatient because I live walking distance from Queens Blvd location and it beats taking the train to Astoria.

Im still on the fence about this gym. The location is great and within walking distance, but I honestly found the staff at the Astoria location to be friendlier, with more selections for supplements and they are better at making the protein drinks. Today, the gym is suppose to be open from 7am- 7pm. I got to the at 4pm and it was closed. Nothing posted on the door or their site to explain why..... bad business.

The gym is still new, having opened last summer, so all the machines are still in great condition. The problem is that the gym is on the small side, with all the machines densely packed together. Its a pain to find anything at first. They have a CrossFit-like tier membership if youre into that. Overall, its a small gym thats on the expensive side.
