Careful folks. Buyer beware. Charlie, the manager at the Riverhead Midas, is a bit of a hot headed and arrogant "son-of-a-you-know-what." Hes got a bad temper thats going to get him in trouble one day. In fact, Charlie is a lawsuit just waiting to happen. I actually called the police when I was there. I didnt want to, but I needed to have a written report / record of what had occurred. Allow me to explain. I went into Midas with a coupon (i.e., a free oil change with a NYS inspection). I even called ahead to make sure the coupon was valid. Charlie said it was. He even asked me what kind of vehicle I had. He said come on in, so I went in for my NYS Inspection and free oil change. When they were finished working on my car, I went to pay my bill -- but instead of a free oil change, Charlie said he couldnt do that. He took $10.00 off the cost of the oil change instead. When I asked why, he stated that a free oil change wouldnt apply for a new vehicle. After arguing with him for awhile, I told him that the coupon said nothing about that. The coupon didnt state any restrictions. And it certainly didnt say anything about new cars not being applicable. By the way, I have a 2010 vehicle with under 10,000 miles (not really a new car anyway). He then said that I didnt present my coupon up front. I said the coupon doesnt say "present before ordering" (I actually dont like using "present before ordering" coupons; sometimes you get less of what youd ordinarily get). Now folks, I can certainly afford an oil change. I live out on the East End and money is not an issue for me. But I refused to pay for this oil change out of principle. So when I saw that we were going nowhere, I asked Charlie for the Riverhead Police phone number. He said to call 911. "Thats ridiculous," I said. "Im not going to call 911." This was not an emergency. Ultimately I called my wife and asked her to Google the phone number for the Riverhead Police. To make a long story short, a police officer arrived, I showed him my coupon, and I explained the situation. When all was said and done, the officer asked me to wait outside and he then spoke to Charlie. After going back and forth a few times, the officer eventually came out and said Charlie was waiving the entire bill. I was surprised by that. Charlie had been so adamant about charging me for both an inspection and oil change. Now he wanted nothing? I then told the officer I wanted to pay Midas for the inspection. I wasnt looking for a free service. I was just looking to pay what I owed. But the officer said Charlie wouldnt take it. I shook my head in exasperation, thanked the officer for his help, and apologized for having to bring him out on such a "trivial" matter. But I also told him I needed to get my things from the waiting room and retrieve my valet key from the front desk. But when I tried to get these items, Charlie came running out from behind the counter and started shoving me towards the door. He actually started yelling that I was trespassing (!) and literally pushed me towards the door. He did this in front of the police officer. Now folks, pushing someone is technically a form of assault, but Im not a vengeful guy. I didnt want to make matters worse. But if Charlie had hit me, thatd be a different story. So I ignored Charlie instead, walked passed him, and got my things from the waiting room. One day, however, Charlie is going to meet a customer with an equally unreasonable temper, and that person is either going to punch Charlies lights out -- or someone who Charlie injures in a fight will file a lawsuit. I think its just a matter of time. In the meantime, if youre looking for an automotive repair facility, you may want to steer away from this Midas shop and find another place to go. For obvious reasons, I do NOT recommend them.

Working on my third vehicle with Charlie. While I am embarrassed at times at how little I know about cars, here is why Charlie is worth the visit. 1. You can call and he will give you a no-nonsense time estimate. He will be frank, and really pretty freaking good about time management. 2. If you ask him an open ended question like "what needs to be done" or "is this really important?", he will answer frankly and explain why or why not. 3. He will work with you if you explain what you need or want, and values customer loyalty. I have had everything from shocks and tires to electronic control modules done. Highly recommended

Ive always had a great experience here. The staff is friendly on the phone and in person and has been great about squeezing me in for an appointment same day. Their prices are reasonable and they have never tried to up sell me on any unnecessary services. They always start on time and finish the work quickly. Ive had my share of bad experiences at other places in the past but these guys have been consistently honest and done quality work so I will keep coming back.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BUSINESS ETHIC! Person at desk named "Charlie" is very rude and most definitly not someone you would like to give your hard earned money too. Total Price was unreal and obnoxious, Took it to a shop down the street and got double the work done for half the price! No joke! Worst part of experience was definitly the attitude and service from the man named Charlie at the desk. I wouldnt go to this place for an oil change! BUYERS BEWARE!

HUGE RIPOFF. All the places in Riverhead were busy at the time except for them ( now I know why) so I went here. I went in for a simple oil change and inspection , and ended up walking away with a 160.00 bill. They charged me 80.00 dollars for the oil change and 30.00 for unnecessary windshield wipers or he wasnt going to pass my inspection. They also take there time , racking that up that labor rate These guys are no good dont go here.

Called them about check light engine on. Told them it could possibly be a tune up since its been sitting a while. Light turns off before I get there so they didnt run any diagnostics like I thought they would since its off. But just because the light is off doesnt mean the problem isnt still there. Spent 1700$ to not have it fixed. Go figure. Go somewhere else. Dont trust these guys. Complete ripoff.

After reading some of the reviews posted here I felt compelled to leave one of my own. Charlie at Midas has been nothing short of true professional each and every time I have brought my 2 vehicles there. I have been doing business with him for over 6 years now and I always leave feeling satisfied that I got the job done right and at a reasonable price.
