RIP OFF ALERT!!!!! My husband went here today for a brake and rotor job, and the price was very high. I did some research (unfortunately after the fact) and found that while it was in the range of some other places, it landed solidly in the top third. Midas did the job really fast, and only stocks ceramic pads, which are way more expensive and not the best choice for average car/average driving, so you are forced into overpaying. Ceramic pads only advantage is that they have less dust and are sometimes quieter. They dont enhance ability to stop at all and actually perform worse on many of the types of cars the average customer would bring to a Midas. Additionally, ceramic brake pads have a longer book labor time than semi-metallics, so labor charge is padded there as well. Next, staff was extremely cagey when I asked repeatedly about the brand of rotor and never gave me a straight answer. So, this leads me to conclude that they used generic rotors, which even if labeled "premium" are not equivalent to a quality brand rotor. Having lifetime brake pads is of no value if put on cheap rotors. The "lifetime" part is just a means to ensure you return to pay the labor charges to them, or to charge you a high upfront cost on the pads, hoping you wont actually return to them when you next need brakes, and so they dont have to give you replacements. Finally, Midas of Bloomfield couldnt give a price over the phone beforehand for a brake and rotor job on a vehicle that is as average as they come, so this should be a clue that the place is not upfront and is just looking to get you in the door. There must have been some sales target to hit. Anyway, I am glad my husbands brakes are done, but this was a disappointing experience. When I called to complain about these tactics, the manager said he would "throw in a free oil change". I asked him to send me some acknowledgement of this in the mail of this, since he had my address on the work order. It never came.

Terrible terrible. They lost my tire lock after I had a fifteen minute conversation with the manager about how I didnt give the mechanic permission to go into my glove compartment and take it. This is after telling them I wanted no work done on the tires just a quick oil change. And also after telling them about how I had just learned the importance of not loosing a tire lock because it is specific to your tires only. I found out my tire lock was lost the next day when I went to get my tire replaced and couldnt. Then they tell me they will replace the tire locks. Okay thanks, but still time wasted on my part. They lost all of my information on their computer system. I made an appointment but it didnt matter because the manager said he forgot I made an appointment and sent his guy out to lunch!!! So Im sitting here and this place is already VERY SLOW, waiting for lunch boy to come back and right the wrong, all the while I could be spending this time getting my tire changed, with my family and preparing for thanksgiving. Dont waste your time here!!!

They fixed my cars exhaust system well. Since some parts were original Midas, they were partially credited. But, then they told me I would need a new radiator by showing me a drop of the coolant under the car. Since it could not tell clearly where it was leaking from, with my approval they performed a pressure test and claimed they found fine cracks on the radiator. They were rushing me in to replace it at that time. I felt suspicious about their claim, so I walked off from them and went to my mechanics for consultation. My mechanics could not find any leaks or cracks. Its been already over a month since the muffler job, but there is no coolant drop mark on the garage floor or engine overheating.

Im usually very skeptical of going to any garage and I typically do all of my own work but recently farmed out some of it to Midas in Bloomfield. I had no issues at all. Jason and Carlos were both highly professional and have performed good work for me. Im sure it helps that I knew what I needed / wanted, but I didnt get the impression that they would gouge me even if I played dumb. The lady at the front may seem very short, but as far as Im concerned, as long as my work gets done according to spec, I dont need the front desk person to give me his/her life story while Im waiting either. I would recommend them, but I would also have an idea on what a job would cost before going to ANY garage. E

I brought one of our cars in for a DMV emissions test last summer and thought the service was super. When I walked in I got quick attention. They were very organized and polite (my experience was not like the earlier reviewer) and managed to have my car done 5 minutes early. I went in strictly for the emissions test and they did not try to "sell" me on anything else. Given my experience, I plan to take our other car to the same place in a few days for its emissions test. We will see how that goes (maybe I will write up a new review), but my experience last year was excellent. 2009 Update: Experience was similar to 2008. My experience with emissions testing was very favorable.

I brought my car in to Midas for an oil change because I had a coupon. Ive never been to Midas before and I didnt know what to expect. I truly was amazed at the stellar customer service! Jack and Jeff were both very knowledgeable and super friendly. The young man that worked on my car, Armando, went out of his way to shake my hand and say hello. They not only changed my oil, but they looked over my entire car and made recommendations based on how many miles I had. I was blown away! Even at the dealer Ive never received such service. Kudos to Jack, Jeff, and team, you have a customer for life.

This was my first visit to a Midas to get my oil changed. I came into contact with 4 people while I was there: Ron, Rudy, Jason, and Katie. All 4 were very pleasant, professional, and helpful. I was very impressed with the level of service and quality of people on staff. I work in a customer service capacity and I know this is very difficult for any office or location with such few employees to achieve. I felt comfortable knowing that I wasnt being pressured into purchasing a more expensive oil but that I was getting what my car needed. I will return here to have my car serviced.

I cannot say enough good things about this Midas! Jeff and Jack are awesome! I brought my Sorento in for an oil change and during their courtesy check they discovered my wheel bearing was extremely loose. Jeff brought me out to the shop to show me and explained in detail how it works and the safety concerns. I had it done of course, and it was quicker and less expensive than what they promised! Do yourself a favor and bring your car in to Bloomfield Midas, these guys are awesome.
