It took me a while to decide how many starts to give Monro on this review. Do they do a good job? Yes, they actually do. Are they overpriced? Absolutely. Do they mark up the parts? At least a few %. Do they tell you that you need more than you really do? I cant say for sure but I have never gone there without them telling me I need almost double or more work done than what I thought I did. (And by the way, Ive built six vehicles from the frame up. I just go there when I dont have the time.) Dont get me started with their bait and switch oil change deals.... So I just had the brakes done on my 2011 Xterra. $1,047.04 out the door. About $650 in parts, $310 in labor, $39 in "misc." shop fees, and $62.00 and change in taxes.. (Why cant "misc. fees" be part of the cost up front?). Went across the street to price out equal parts at NAPA. About $400-500 for the top of the line parts. Ok not too bad. $310.00 in labor instead of taking a day and doing it myself? Ok not too bad again. I even had to bring my Xterra back to Monro to have the e-brake adjusted more. Again, no charge, no biggie, in and out. Heres what got me..... I just spent $1,050 there to have my Xterra brakes done. About twice what I planned on spending. But I at least knew that I now have all new brakes all around. I picked up my Xterra and low and behold, the rims looked like crap. They couldnt take the five or ten minutes to clean all of the old brake dust off of my rims. My vehicle looked the same as it did before I dropped it off. It was a lousy first impression. I am a customer service manager by occupation. I was appalled that the rims were not cleaned off. (I actually put the "bug" in the managers ear when I dropped it off, obviously to no avail.) If I were the manager there, I would insist that every car that has any type of brake work done have the tires and rims looking clean before the customer gets there. Im not saying that they need to use that tire shine stuff. Just clean the dust and dirt off. I would have been 100% happy and satisfied with Monro if they had. Thats my gripe, period!

AVOID THIS PLACE!! Dont even go in for an oil change! I literally only asked for an oil change, nothing else. I didnt want a rotation, I didnt want balancing. I left my vehicle there for the day and what a mistake that was! Plenty of time for them to mess it up! Once I picked up my vehicle I felt something was wrong, it would pull hard to the left and had a slight shudder on the highway. I brought it back and they told me it was because they rotated the tires. Well, they rotated them back and the shudder is now even worse, it occurs all the time. Not only did they do that BUT THEY DIDNT EVEN PUT MY OIL CAP BACK ON CORRECTLY!! My roommate found it on the road in front of my house shortly after my oil change!!! What a joke this place is and dont even bother calling the owner, already tried that for them to make things right. Never going back.

This place is an absolute ripoff. Mark the manager is the furthest from honest that I have seen. I needed brake lines he gave me the same old song and dance I am really not making much on this job, but I will do this for you this time. I get my car back after 3 days (Mark said it would take 1 day). When I pick my car up it somehow leaks gas. So I decide to take my car to a REAL mechanic he said that they did a hack of a job (which cost me almost $800). The real mechanic said he could have done the job right for $500. Mark also said I needed new rotors and they were 2 months old. Thanks for your honesty Monroe of Cheshire. I refuse to give Mark or the rest of Monroe a penny more of my money. I hope this review helps people realize that is business is NOT honest and are only lying to get more money, so they can make more commission.

I brought my vehicle in for an alignment. I was told it would take 1.5 hours. I returned after 2 hours, and it still wasnt done. When it was finished, I left to drive home and immediately noticed that the steering wheel was not aligned correctly to the wheels. I brought it back and they agreed to take another look at it. An hour later, they waved me into the garage to "give me an education" after showing me the new values, they acted like they somehow proved that they were right the first time (which they werent). They then added that they "wouldnt charge me for the education". Overall, I feel that the service was slow, the staff (while friendly and accommodating) were a bit condescending, and their performance was lacking. I wont be going back.

I am giving the 5 stars to the assistant manager Jesse who was super friendly and helpful. I had problem with one of the tires I just bought less than 2 months ago. If it wasnt him, I dont know if the problem could have been detected. He was compassionate, comforting, and understand how upset and worried customers are dealing with car issues. He tried his best to work with me and got the work done the next day (cuz he had to order the new tire). Thank you very much Jesse! Not sure if Monroe offers the best prices but the employees were nice at this store. Monroe, if you see this comment, I would like you to know what a valuable employee you have and his customer skill was exceptional. He should be commended!

I really dont understand the negative reviews. I have been taking all of my cars to Monroe since I moved into town in 2005. I have become a fan of Mark, the manager and have found him to be honest and loyal to me as a customer. Recently he pointed out some issues with my wifes car after we had a brake job done. Having had a warranty on the car from CARMAX I brought the car into CARMAX and had them look under the car. Their service technician identified the same issues as pointed out by Mark, and they were fixed under warranty. I will continue to take my cars into Monroe of Cheshire.

They fixed the car, but after talking to a friend who sells them parts, found out that they charged me over %100 percent markup for the parts. Basically I dropped 1200 when I shouldve been paying around 600. On top of the hundred they charge per hour while they bounce between your car and the other cars in the garage it just wasnt worth it. Go on youtube and learn how to change your brakes. Save yourself hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Thats what Ill be doing.

Took my car there for an oil change yesterday. I was told I needed rear tires and rear brakes. I was given a brochure with pictures and a brake report card which showed how worn down my brakes were. I took my car to my own mechanic today. I do NOT the rear brakes. He was even suspicious that someone even bothered to take a tire off to look. Always get a second opinion for any extra work they tell you that you need. Im never going back there.
