I dropped my sons car off when it broke down in Saratoga. I know it needed an Alternator and we noted that on the after hours form we filled out. Received a call the next day from Josh who said it did indeed need an alternator, he also said it needed a new serpentine belt as the old one was burnt though. and the battery was fried - they were trying to recharge it but he didnt think it would take a charge because it was so bad. The total was going to be $650. ( with a re-manufactured alternator) I called the Auto parts store and was told I could purchase the alternator for $114. When I called Midas back and told the mechanic I was going to do it myself he questioned my ability to change an alternator myself. when I told him I know how simple it is, that there is normally 1 or 2 bolts holding it in he just rudely hung up. When I called back to tell them when I would pick the car up and pay them for the oil change they then said theycould do it for $450 - Which means they were going to easily rip me off for $200 - and still for the parts that were not needed. I picked the car up, changed the alternator in less than an hour, didnt need a new belt - it was not cracked or burnt through as they said and did not need a new battery. In fact we were able to drive the car 10 miles to home on the battery alone. I had been there once before and had an OK experience which is why i dropped my sons car there. If they were reasonable I would have had the work done to save myself the trouble. Bottom line - be very careful if you do not know much about cars as they will try to sell you extra parts you do not need - and for a very inflated price.

I have been a customer at the Saratoga location for many years. My experience has always been good . My latest experience was exceptional. I went in to have my daughters 1999 Honda accord inspected. The new manager took the car in and had the technician look at it and advised me that they didnt have the computer coding that was needed for my Honda. That it would have to be checked by a Honda dealer,or a shop that specializes in Emission computer codes, such as Honda has. He did not charge me for the service. He then went the extra mile, as far as I was concerned and advise me of a specialist garage that worked on computer problems on all cars nit just Hondas. My daughter is from out of town and had been trying to get her car inspected several times and had been getting the run-around from several small garages in her area. She was desperate to get it inspected as it was coming due and she needs her car for work. So she asked for my help. I took it to the electronic specialist garage and they were able to get it straightened out. My daughters car got fixed and inspected. This was after her going to several other shops and expenses. It was really great to go to a location that was more concerned with helping the customer than taking advantage of the customer. As I said previously I have been going to this Midas location for several years, and have always been pleased with the service. But this was above and beyond. Phil Gargan

I usually don’t spend time writing reviews but I am always using them before I take a decision… sad huh? However, it helps me understanding how the business is doing, so I decided to help others in the decision making process. I moved not long ago in the Saratoga Springs area and I needed a shop where I can fix my car(s). I wanted to have a tire rotation done, so I shopped around and based on the reviews I called Midas. When I asked for price, I was told $5 (!!!!), so I said yes. I was more than pleased with the service (I know that tire rotation is not a big deal), and the way how Mike (from front desk) approached me. Like any other person involved in a business, he wanted to get more but he was smart enough to not be pushy and do just the job he was asked for. At the end he told me that the computer system is asking for $12, but because he said $5 he will charge me $5. I asked to be charged full price as I think that $5 is ridiculous, but on the other hand I didn’t want to pay $25-$35 like other shops around. In other words, yes, I would highly recommend Midas for your car repairs. They have discounts based on the repair value, and they know what they are doing. Good job guys, and I can tell that you’ll have my business!

I traveled to Saratoga Springs for a college visit to Skidmore. I drove from Poughkeepsie with a Ford Focus rented from Budget Rentals. The car had a very unpleasant drive and half way to Saratoga Springs the dashboard message low tire pressure came on. None of the tires looked low so my daughter and I continued onto Skidmore College. After our tour I drove into town and went to Midas. I entered the Midas office and told the man who worked in the office what was going on. He told Shawn a mechanic at Midas to take a minute and check out my tires. Shawn checked my tires and found that all of them had too much air in them; three of them almost triple of the required amount. He let out the air and checked to make sure all the tires were fine. When I was about to walk back to the office, he asked me why I was going back into the office. I said to pay and he said, no, no, you can just go now. The car is safe. I felt so good that both the office manager and Shawn took such good care of me especially since the car was not my car and the town was far away from home. The car drove much better after Shawn fixed the air in all the tires.

I generally have the dealership where I bought my jeep perform maintenance for me however I received a coupon in the checkout line at Price chopper for Midas and thought I would give them a try and Im glad that I did, had I not there wouldve been things that were neglected during the previous oil changes that were brought to my attention and taken care of by the wonderful staff working today. I feel that they were very personable and genuinely courteous, not like I was just a number or another car coming through but they actually looked at my vehicle and went above and beyond addressing concerns that they had for things that were Irrelevant as to why I was there in the first place , such as my "wolf whistle" that I have under my hood; wires were a mess and melting from the heat of the engine and they offered to straighten that out for me which I thought was above and beyond the call of duty today :). Josh, The manager was very attentative and greeted me outside the door of my jeep and before I even got out which made me very welcome and heeded. I will be back in 4,000 miles guys, great job!
