At first I was happy with the service here. I lost my job in November 2016, due to my health and prior to that, my Mother lost her battle with breast cancer in August of 2016. I have kept an open line of communication with them about it all. I was told that I am now one month behind, which doesnt make sense, when I was current, except for on the late fees that were piling up. I e-mailed them asking if there were any way for the late fees to be forgiven because the late fees were what had me behind. I am current on the monthly bill itself. This isnt the first time I was told that I wasnt up to date on my payment. The last time I had to email them a receipt because they said they, "didnt see my payment". When I was behind one month I let them know that without a job and my spouse being the only one working, only getting a few hours, was making it harder to keep up, but that we were trying. Per e-mail, I was told our unit would be fine as long as we didnt get two months behind. We just received a letter saying they will auction our things. I have items from my deceased Mother in there!! It isnt okay to threaten someone with an auction when you said, "just dont get two months behind", and according to them, we are one month behind. There is no way I should be one month behind, when I clearly let them know the $30 late fee is what had piled up. I am emotionally torn up right now. The manager named keith had the nerve to tell me "we just want to get paid".... I have two children and Im married. Our income is crap right now. We literally have to pay only part of our bills so that we can put money on the storage. I almost feel as though I was being mocked for not being able to keep up. I lost my Mom and Im fighting so hard not to lose her things as well. This is when the compassion should be there in a company. But I can say I spoke to a lady named Lisa and one named Angie. Angie gave me a little tude at first, but then she was very nice. They both were. Angie and Lisa were the nicest ones out of everyone Id spoken to. I just wish the company wouldnt be so heartless about something so meaningful to someone else. Keiths statement made it all about money. The fact that you have a customer that works so hard to keep their things, and you would reduce it down to money is really sad. Im very hurt by this.

I have never had to utilize a storage unit before. Im 35 and have lived on my own for the past 17 years. Over that time I have amassed quite a bit of things some inherited from my late mother and others either purchased or given to me by other family members. Im now beginning my own family and because of this moving is necessary. We searched for different storage units, climate controlled of course, as much of my belongings cannot be put in anything not climate controlled. After doing extensive research on multiple facilities and companies in and around the Schenectady area, I finally settled on side-by-side storage. Yesterday my boyfriend and I went over to put money down on the unit after having reserved on line. 1st off the on line process was incredibly easy. The fact that my boyfriend is a Triple A member made it so we could reserve online and pay within 48 hours. I want to thank them for giving us a lock in the unit upon receipt of our payment. Not only that, they were incredibly kind and courteous to my boyfriend. I do have some of my own questions and Im going to try to utilize the website to see if I can answer them 1st before contacting the facility and bombarding them with a couple questions from a new B to storing things. Im glad we found a facility right here in the Rotterdam area which is where I will be moving to. The one thing that does bother me is the fact that I cannot keep everything all with me when I move. However, knowing that my belongings will be in a locked storage facility where you actually need a code to get into the gate and building itself to access the inside units is definitely something which will give me peace of mind. While I hope I dont have to store anything for too terribly long a time, I genuinely do hope that this experience will be a good one for me.

While moving out of the storage unit we found water that caused damage to a lot of our wood furniture such as molding and buckling. We lost a lot of our furniture because of it. On top of that we had mice, so what wasnt affected by the flooding was eaten by mice or covered in their feces. Theres nothing like opening a drawer after a long day of moving only to find a family of mice within. That is an experience that I wouldnt wish upon anyone. Both my mother and I lost a lot of valuable things that had some very sentimental meanings to us, that is irreplaceable. On their website the company promised that they are "clean, dry and safe", I found none of this to be true. Flooding and mice proved the first two promises to be untrue and the third was covered by the psychological damage done to our family. We have to go through all of our boxes and furniture expecting to find mice or their droppings. We have droppings all over our new house thanks to the horrible maintenance that this storage unit provides. The sanitary issues that come along with mice and their droppings prove this place to be unsafe, and in my experience, unfit for human exposure. If you like your stuff and wish to keep it be smart and spend your money elsewhere. This place was an absolute nightmare.

What ever you do dont ever go to one of their storage auctions, The owner who is nothing but a pompous ass, and treats and talks to people like he is better than you. When he has his person cut the lock and starts the bidding if he doesnt like your bid he wont sell you the unit even if your the only one bidding. He never stated in the beginning like other auctions I attend that the owner can refuse any bid that they deem not fair. But he will get into a verbal argument with you over the bid. I have been going to storage auctions for over 15 years and have never met an owner who doesnt know how to talk to or treat people, seems like the silver spoon that he was born with in his mouth just got a funny taste on it from some other place. NOT a very nice person.

I was with side by side for s few years and I must say they are the best storage that I have ever dealt with. They even provide a lock for you. The facility is clean and easily accessible. They just upgraded and added a restroom. The only thing that they should think about is getting a dumpster because a lot of times people clean out their storage and because there is no dumpster we are forced to take unwanted goods back home. I will definitely rent with this company shall I need a storage unit again. I will also refer people. Thank you so much. Tanika
