Update: So everything I said below is true and what happened. But its missing an important piece I just discovered now. Mainly that all the waste the plumber pulled from our pipes was dumped in our lawn. Now my concern is not a matter of aesthetics. Though to be clear a pile of feces, rags, gloves and metal pipe pieces really has no business being in my lawn and is very much a case of littering. No my issue is that we have well water and this stuff was dumped on the well side of the house. Let me repeat that: a bunch of sewage and waste water was dumped uphill from my well. Thats our drinking water. Theres also the concern of our neighbors water. I called Rotorooter and they said theyd send him out here to pick it up. We are still working out the logistics and it seems like at least the garbage and solid waste will be gone before the end of today. But I dont think theyre understanding just what went wrong here. One operator told me that they do not take the waste back with them. That makes sense, but then why didnt the plumber ask me where it was ok to dump these things. Or how to dispose of them. Even if the waste and water itself cant go in a garbage bag, why are used gloves and rags and metal pipe parts sitting in my front lawn. Will I need to get my well tested for bacteria? How long do I have to worry about this? Ill update further when I know more. But right now, were not happy. And we wont be until Rotorooter expresses the appropriate level of concern and takes action to address it. Both women from admin seemed to understand why I was unhappy. But the prescribed solution so far has only been, "well try to get a hold of the plumber and have him pick it up". That seems like step 1. Wheres step 2? Original Post: Our house had a backup in its main sewer line (the big 6-ich pipe where everything leaves your house). Since we have septic, theres a whole house trap and water was not getting past it. Of course it happened late on a Saturday. It took 3 hours for a plumber to become available. Once Henry got here, we showed him the problem, he stated the price clearly (which never changed) and we had him get to work. This was not an easy job for him. The cleanout caps likely hadnt been opened since they were installed (in 1971). This is in line with a lack of maintenance in other parts of the house. So Henry had to crack them off and install new ones (which were well worth the $13/each ). He spent the rest of his time cutting through and vacuuming out 40+ years accumulation of nothing anyone wants to think about. He was professional and worked hard the whole night. Hes why we didnt need to find a hotel. In the end it took him three hours to get everything running again. But things are running. The price never changed despite all the length and setbacks. Except to replace the destroyed caps. And the new ones are now removable by us weekend warriors should any problems occur again. Im always hesitant to hire a big commercial company as seen on TV. But they never pushed any new services on us or were in any way dishonest. They just came to fix a problem when no one else was around. Which means well be back the next time something breaks.

I called Roto Rooter hoping to get a service person on short notice who would be able to help me with a stressful flooding problem in my first floor toilet. Thank -G-d I was very fortunate that I was able to have Roto Rooter come to my home to fix what seemed to be a clogged toilet in less than 45 minutes. The phone operators were very helpful and polite and told me it might be up to 2 hours to get someone to my house. Ten minutes later I got a call from another gentleman who told me that the service man will be here in 45 minutes. A nicely dressed service man came to my front door, his name was Bill. He was very prompt, extremely polite and friendly. He even played with my new puppy Kylie. Bill carried himself with a sense of calm and safety, which reassured me he was the man to fix my problem. Between removing and replacing my toilet bowl, putting a pipe camera through the PVC line, locating my septic tank and clearing out my clogged drain, Bill couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. Even though Bill had just driven over an hour to my home, he really went the extra mile and stayed late at night to fix my problem for close to 2 hours. The cost of the service was very reasonable as compared to other plumbing companies Ive used. After the job was complete, Bill had arranged to have a service person from their septic tank division call me the next day. He also had a mediation service person call me to come by and see how we can get reimbursed for the damage of flooding from my insurance company. He did such a good job, I offered him some donuts for the road. I am for now a new loyal customer of Roto Rooter and Bill. Warm Regards, Barry -Dix Hills

After having several days of missed appointments, no shows, shody work and zero customer service from the "$49.99" guys, enough was enough. I researched online for the most reputable, reliable and highest rated plumbing and drain companies available. My search pulled up R&R Plumbing Roto Rooter of Queens Village, NY, 4.7 out of a 5 Star rating! Everything from the beginning of my phone call to R&R Plumbing Roto Rooter, to the completion of the work that needed to be done, was executed exactly as promised. They should really change the rating to a 5 Star because that is definitely the quality of service I received. A gentleman, named JC, made my appointment for me over the phone. He was courteous and provided details on what I should expect. My technicians name was Will, Tech #9. He was on time, showed up with a smile, thorough, detail oriented, informative and quite courteous. I was going to relax for the next 2 hours and let Will go do his work, however I was intrigued by the large truck that pulled up front of my house, what was in it? It was a commercial sewer jetter, color camera, nozzles, chemical treatments, etc. I just had to see what was in that sewer pipe, so I spent the next 2 hours viewing the camera and asking questions. I think Will would had finished the job in half the time if I werent there, however he was really patient and left no question unanswered. This guy was genuine and enjoyed doing his job. Kudos to you, Will! I hope this makes it back to you.

After having a leak on a weekend and calling our normal plumber resulted in a rude call center encounter and the center not relaying the msg to the plumber, we called Roto Rooter. Within an hour, though this leak was minor and it was a Saturday, Roto-Rooter arrived and fixed the issue. We were so impressed with the technician (Danny 402) , that we booked them to do the full pipe replacement we had been putting off. Danny (402) and Matt (470), showed up exactly when they said they would and worked 15 hours straight other than a small lunch break to complete the work. These guys were friendly, professional, clean and even our dog loved them. Not only did they complete the job as promised, they were very thorough and even fixed some minor annoying things that werent on the list. Their work seems very solid and they were such a pleasure to work with that we will now always call them first and plan to use Roto Rooter for all future work even though the quote for work done was slightly higher than other quotes. We are very pleased with the work and hope these two hard working professionals get some well deserved rest. Highly recommend for anyone needing plumbing.
