Although I truly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I am saddened by the malicious reviews that are being repeatedly posted (mostly by the same family) about DPA. My daughter has danced at this studio for years and I wouldnt have it any other way. The teachers and faculty love her and it is her home away from home. I have never been asked to give a review of the studio, and I am not someone who normally goes online and reviews businesses. But I feel like I would be doing a disservice to the community if I did not address the fallacies. First, coming from a dance background myself, I am confident that all students are getting a sound foundation of dance. I love that there is a great focus on ballet and technique, never just on learning choreography. Many of the girls have been accepted onto college, high school and middle school dance teams during our time at DPA. There are also many parents whose girls have come from other studios and other competition teams who are thrilled with the progress their kids have made since moving to DPA. Second: Communication Academy parents are always kept up to date on activities, performances and studio events via email as well as information being on the website. The office hours are posted and when someone is not at the desk, Mrs. Gioia, responds to emails and voicemails. Mrs. Ja’Nika communicates to the Company parents and is always there to answer my questions. Third: Teacher Turnover Just as in our children’s schools, some teachers do leave, others stay long-term. Dancers Pointe Academy has been open for 9 years and Mrs. Jentry used to teach a majority of the classes. As her studio began to grow, she hired additional faculty. I believe its great for dancers to learn from different teachers. Some teachers have been a great fit, others not so much. There was one teacher who disappeared at the beginning of this dance year without a word, but the rest have been very present and reliable and are on the schedule for summer and next year. And again, my daughter loves them and I know they care about her. Fourth: Avoiding questions and milking parents for money Well I have never had an issue with either. Mrs. Gioia (office manager) and Ms. JaNika (Company director) make it a point to keep everyone in the loop. I can’t imagine that anyone runs a dance studio for the money, just as nobody teaches for the money. Fifth: Maintenance issues Yes there was a ONE broken bathroom (studio is equipped with two) over a year ago. There was "no raw human waste" left in the bathroom. The bathroom was cleaned and disinfected, and the toilet was physically taped off from use (to prevent any mishaps with our students that cant read) until the plumber could fix it. Sixth: Barter Im not sure where this information came from. Any parents that work around the studio, do it because they want to help, not based on need. I have heard that Mrs. Jentry has offered assistance to students needing help with classes and costumes in the past. The studio is owned by Mrs. Jentry, but we are all a family and do what we can to make DPA a place our children and their friends WANT to be. Lastly: Parents running studio Just like in point Six, there are parents who help out- with the office and with the Company team. Otherwise, Mrs. Jentry is at the studio on a regular basis and has some great teachers we love and trust when she isn’t! I know that some of these reviews are from the same family and have to wonder if the others aren’t just more cyber-bullying under other screen names. It is unfortunate because in the end it only hurts the students, the young girls and boys who love their dance home. And I have to wonder what kind of person would put such effort into doing that.

Having moved to the area from NoVa over the summer, I was excited to find a dance school for my preschool age twins so close to my house. I checked the schedule online and found a week when a camp for girls the same age as my own was being held and decided to visit the school in person. I found a Closed sign on the door and no signs of life inside. Two weeks later I tried again. Again there was supposed to be a camp taking place, again there was nobody there. I assumed that the summer schedule was incorrect on the website and I would drop by once the regular classes started. I pulled up the online schedule and dropped in two different mornings last week when preschool classes were supposed to be held. Closed and closed. On top of all that, my attempts to contact the school owner were never acknowledged. On their website, the preschool program is being touted as "New and Improved." Maybe it is, but if my experience is on par with the experiences with other moms, Im never going to find out. Im very disappointed.

Unprofessional, negative attitudes displayed by staff and many of the students and parents, a complete disappointment. I would not recommend Dancers Pointe Academy to anyone. After many years of of attending recitals, competitions, participating in and promoting fundraisers I am quite saddened by what has happened to this studio in the past year. Teachers come and go frequently, some dancers are left out and forgotten, competition dances are not even begun until February. And now the owner has moved several hours away and is completely uninvolved in the studio and refuses to answer calls, texts or emails. If the mission of DPA is to provide a positive and quality dance experience for children, they should step back and look at all the people they have let down.

Recent research suggests that kids with after school extra curriculum activities do better in school, at home and in relationship building. Dance is an excellent outlet for creative expression for those interested in art through movement and body conditioning. Balance, coordination, stamina and so many benefits come from the focused conditioning associated with dance. Dancers Pointe is a great place to learn, love and be with other souls that share a passion for this form of art. Any experience is what you make of it. My kids love to dance and love the friends they spend time learning with at DPA

My daughter has been dancing with Jentry and friends at Dancers Pointe Academy for 6 years. She loves to dance and has developed wonderful age appropriate techique and skills. She dances 7 hours a week plus additional hours during competition season. The studio and teachers love the girls are committed to teaching the art of all dance, self esteem and team spirit while having fun. The owner and office manager are committed to making the studio the best it can be for the parents and the students. DPA is a great place to learn and grow in the art of dance!!!

While Dancers Pointe Academy is one the small side, it serves the perfect amount of dance expertise and genuine care. Jentry, the owner, is a wonderful dance teacher who has a vast knowledge of instruction. She combines this with her sweet southern personality. The studio offers ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, tap, lyrical, modern and acro. My girls have learned a great deal in the months under her tutelage. In addition, the studio is charming & its location is convenient to Cary, Morrisville and Apex.

My girls have been dancing with Jentry and her staff for over 10 years now. DPA is a smaller studio with individualized attention where you are more like family than a number! As much as the girls love Jentry, she cares for them just as much!!! Not only do the girls have great experiences with lessons, they have also formed lifetime friendships! I am amazed everyday at the dancers my girls have become from dancing with Jentry, Karen, JaNika, AnnaLaura and Christian.
