My daughter has been taking classes at Trionoide Academy for five years. In addition to dance, she has also learned to enjoy the rewards of hard work, how to win or lose gracefully, and how to carry herself with poise and confidence in any situation. The owner of the school, Karen Johnson, started with a vision to build a world class Irish dance school in Raleigh. Our teacher, Dan Triggle, is a three time world champion and he has performed in many productions, including a three year stint with Riverdance. He is admired in the Irish dance community for his work ethic and achievements. He sets the bar high, but he also takes time to compliment the students efforts and improvements. He is not only an excellent teacher and choreographer, but he even takes time to assist the students with their wigs and make up on competition mornings. The students have formed close bonds and they encourage each other even when they are competing in the same group. The adult students are mentors for the younger students in life and dance. We feel very fortunate and blessed that we found this school for our daughter.

I never write reviews, but felt compelled to share our experience. First, the positives. The collective groups of dancers are immensely talented. The families we have met have during our tenure of 2 years are also inviting and welcoming. Unfortunately, the leadership at this institution needs to change their philosophy on how to motivate children & adolescents to focus and perform to the teachers standards. My wife and I have personally witnessed several interactions involving our child and others with berating remarks from the lead instructor that can be heard in the waiting room. It was dismissed as disciplining the child to focus. This may be conducive in the army, but not in a dance studio with young children. I know we are not the only family that felt the same way about this type of instruction.

Trionoide Academy strikes the perfect balance between fun and hard work. Dan Triggle and Karen Johnson are a fabulous team and my daughter is fortunate to have them as mentors. Dan Triggle is a World Champion and it shows in all that he does. The experience goes far beyond dance and includes: work ethic, friendship, teamwork and an appreciation of Irish culture. The family atmosphere is so welcoming and I love spending time with our Trionoide family. We could not be happier.

Our daughter has learned so much from the instructors at this dance school! She has gained an incredible work ethic and love for dance. The families and dancers have always been kind and helpful. We feel very lucky to be a part of such a great group of people. I cant thank the owner and the TCRG (certified teacher) enough for their dedication to teaching quality Irish dance!
