I started visiting this salon for a few months for color and treatment. They started coloring my hair and about 3 - 4 weeks later they put in a relaxer for me. They were giving me several color treatments for my hair because I wanted it light with lighter highlights. I wasnt going to ruin my hair by doing it on my own so I trusted professionals. I was told to come back in about 4 - 6 weeks for more highlights so I did and in between I maintained regular 2 week appointments for deep conditioning to keep my hair healthy while its getting colored. At the six week mark, they felt a need to color and relax my hair at the same time. I told them with all of the chemical treatment I had done for the past month or so (and aside from the fact that I didnt need a relaxer), it wasnt a good idea but I was assured that this particular line was safe and nothing would happen to my hair. The week of this last color / treatment, my hair was great. I got many compliments until my hair started falling out in chunks later on. I was so worried. I went back to the shop to show them my hair and see what they can do with it and all I got from one of the younger stylists was "you dont have any hair to work with". The owner then took over and did what she could. While I sat in her chair, however, I just wanted to cry. I ended up going to another shop across town to get braids until my hair grew back and I never stepped foot in the salon again. By the way, I loved the initial color and the texture of my hair as they treated it, but I always hated the style. They could never get a right style for me and I always changed it when I got home.

DO NOT GO IN THERE THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST PLACE YOU COULD EVER STEP FOOT INTO. THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT AND IT WILL BE MY LAST. I TOOK MY 6YR OLD AND 9YR OLD TO HAVE THEIR HAIR STRAIGHTEN, BUT BEFORE I WENT I ASKED THEM OVER THE TELEPHONE HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR THEIR HAIR GIVEN IT WAS VIRGIN HAIR, I WAS TOLD $40, WHEN I ARRIVED I WAS ASKED WHAT SERVICES I WOULD BE RECEIVING AND THE GUY AT THE FRONT SAID WAS AND SET(STRAIGHTENING) I HAD TO MAKE A RUN TO PICK UP MY HUSBAND AND LEFT MY OLDEST THERE TO FINISH HER HAIR BY THE TIME I RETURNED AND WALK BACK IN TO PAY THE GUY TOLD ME $132. I LOOKED AT HIM AND SAID "YOUR JOCKING RIGHT," AND WITH A STRAIGHT FACE HE SAID THAT IS WHAT THE OWNER WHO SPEAKS VERY LITTLE ENGLISH TOLD HIM THE PRICE WAS FOR MY CHILDREN. AS I BEGAIN TO TELL HER OR TRY TO EXPLAIN TO THEM HOW I ONLY PAID $40 AT ANOTHER DOMINICAN SALON SHE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT TRUE AND THAT SHE CHARGED ME $2 A PIECE FOR HAIR PENS AND $8 FOR THE EYEBROW ARCH I RECEIVED WHICH WAS A TROBLE JOB AND $60 FOR EACH CHILD. I WAS FLOORED AND HAD NEVER BEEN ANYWHERE AND SPENT THAT MUCH MONEY FOR MY CHILDRENS HAIR. ALS, WHILE I WAS THERE ANOTHER WOMEN WHOM WAS GROWING OUT HER RELAXED HAIR WHO HAD MAYBE 3INCHES OF NEW GROWTH ASKED ONE OF THE SYLIST HOW MUCH HER HAIR WOULD COST AND SHE WAS TOLD $40 AND SHE WAS A GROWN UP. THIS PLACE IS UNBELIEVABLE AND LACKS COSTUMER SERVICE AND PROFESSIONALISM. THEY SHOULD AT THE VERY LEAST HAVE A PRICE LIST POSTED IN THEIR PLACE OF BUSINESS OR AT LEAST TELL YOU HOW MUCH IT WILL COST PRIOR TO STARTING EVERY COSTUMER.

I would have given this salon 4 stars because they did a great job on my hair. When I came into the salon I asked how much it would be for a blowout ($45) and a trim ( $10 more) making the total $55. Once the stylist starting blowing my hair out, she forgot to do the trim so I then reminded her. I doubled checked once again by asking " So the price will be $55 right ?" She and another stylist confirmed ( the other stylist may have been the owner, Im not sure). Once my hair had been done the stylist started speaking to me in Spanish so I couldnt understand her but I did hear her say something about the conditioner and it being 10 more dollars. I was a little confused but I asked again ," So now the price isnt $55 its $65?" and she replied yes. Great at doing hair but I wont be going back.

I was not satisfied with my service. I stopped by just because of the reviews. This is the only place that didnt put my hair in rollers and I can tell the difference. Yes I got a blow out and that was about it other than the flat iron. My hair did not last that long with out having to pull it up because all my hair was is straight. How are you going to do my hair with rollers in and charge for the same service even if rollers was not applied. Funny how when you think that your customer that come through that door already know how the procedure is done but you short cut thinking we would not be able to tell the difference. I will not be going back to this place. Too high for what you do.

thank you carmen I came to you with no hair well it was real bad but thanks to your magic touch my hair its been healthier than ever .....carmen makes sure her customers are happy with service and if you wanna go natural this is the place to go I dont know anybody that can make your hair so nice and straight and yes it last me long time so you pay for what you get i dont understand some people complaining for prices when it comes to my hair i dont mind paying them for their service .......!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DO YOUR HAIR...THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. IT IS SO HARD FINDING A STYLIST TO DO NATURAL HAIR, MANY PLACES ONLY SPECIALIZE IN WEAVE. WELL IVE NEVER WORN WEAVE AND CONSTANTLY STRUGGLE TO FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN MANAGE MY HAIR...AND THIS PLACE DID AN AWESOME JOB. AND THE PRICE WAS FAIR. MY HAIR IS DOWN MY BACK,,,HAS LOTS OF VOLUME AND BODY. I WILL NEVER GO TO ANY OTHER SALON....IF YOU DO NOT WEAR WEAVE AND NEED A COMMERCIAL TYPE LOOK...GO TO CARMENS....

Ok, so I mistook this location for the one that I usually go to. (Over the phone) So, I came here because the one located near Pep Boys on N. Tryon St. was closed without notice. Ugh! Anyway, I ended up here & I must say that Im a sucker for a clean establishment where the staff is polite.

I think my hair did look beautiful but I do not like that i was not put in rollers my hair was extremely burned smelling i could not come here to often because my long hair would be bald due to the heat and if my hair is put in rollers 1st it turns out so bouncy and pretty

I love Carmen!!!! She is the best of the best down in Charlotte and I am from NYC..... I have went to a few shops in Charlotte and they have nothing on Carmen.... Going to Carmens feels like I am back home in NYC....
