I only went to Cottmans based on the reviews I read (as I do most of all places Ive never been to), which were very convincing that Cottmans was a good choice...Over the phone Rob seemed fairly pleasent....When I arrived to pick up my Van there was someome ahead of me (no problem right, right). So I listened as Rob expressed utmost appreciation to the customer, offered extended courtesy regarding the repair of his vehicle to the extent that if the customer as much as "thought" there was a problem to not hesitate and bring the vehicle to him immediately. Rob even went as far as to mention the online review and asked the customer to kindly complete one.....Witnessing such great customer service Im thinking, "cool, Cottmans was a good choice"(being a Customer Service Professional for over 20 years I have a knack for CS and choose it ABOVE all else)!......Now its my turn and to my dissatisfaction I get to the counter;(after finalizing the previous customers invoice) no welcoming smile; I barely got a greeting! No asserted info regarding my vehicle, just hands me my invoice, tells me the amount and where to sign!!!!! Since no info was affored to me I begin to ask need-to-know questions of the tests performed: to no avail. Rob did not explain the tests ran during the diagnosis or any results. Not getting anywhere there. I proceeded to ask were there any other issues namely; the battery, starter, alternator, etc? The answer I received was, "I dont know, your steering is fixed." Standing there signing my name and paying my $433, I felt very unappreciated as a customer (a first time customer at that)! None of my questions were answered, no extending of the same courtesies like that of the customer before me....Absolutely NOTHING....Just took my money and sent me on my way! Got to my car it did not start, had to be jumped. Rob stated that it had to be jumped upon arrival: hence my reasoning for asking the diagnosis and if there were any other issues to be fixed, because I was prepared to do so. So I got my jump and went on home; feeling as if my business was not appreciated and that it made no difference if I came back or referred anyone to Cottmans. Being a Customer Service Trainer and Small Business Owner I am high on: Professional, Second to None CS. Not to mention I had one of the Stylist from my Salon with me to show her where I went and maybe she can get work done there if needed or someone she may know. Needless to say that she made mention of the situation as soon as we walked out. I havent gotten a chance to drive due to the snow, but as far as the service I received I most likely WOULD NOT be returning to Cottmans.

This is the BEST of the BEST. I have a 96 Acura RL. One day it stopped on the road and will not start. When we try to crank it, it use to make loud noise and whole vehicle use to shake and the motor use to stop. I towed the car to Acura Show room and in there the chief mechanic called all his service men and all collectively said, that this car lived its life and has engine problem or broken piston. One of my friend asked me to take a second opinion and referred me to Cottman, I thought of spending another 60 to 80 bucks to get it towed from Acura Showroom to COTTMAN. I towed it in the morning and by 11 AM, I get a call asking permission to repair it for just 248 dollars. I could not believe it. They said, it is the axle which broke but not the piston or engine. I had it repaired and it was in 2010. Now I am in 2014 and since then I do not have a single repair other than tyres or oil changes. WAW. Hats Off to COTTMAN and their Honesty and their expertise..... Excellent JOB done by a great team of humble guys.

Went to get my trans checked. They told me nothing was wrong with my trans BUT, they found an engine problem but it wasnt picking up any codes -_- ... Also could not tell me WHAT was wrong with my engine at all or how they figured I had an engine problem. The guy at the desk kept answering with he doesnt know as if he didnt really want me asking him any questions. The guy basically said it has to become a problem, to TRY to resolve the problem -_- ...Which is what I am basically trying to avoid. My experience was not good. The only thing I found out is that I somehow have a mysterious engine problem that cant be fixed until it spirals out of control and I am somewhere stranded. UPDATE: Took my car to get numerous second opinions. No one else found any engine problems. I was told to just use better gas than 87 and gas with no ethanol to solve the problem that I was concerned about.

Avoid this place at all costs. I took my 2004 Pontiac in for a clutch replacement, and immediately after their work was complete, I noticed shudders and shakes in the engine and loud metal-on-metal clunking noises upon startup. I took the car back not once, but TWICE to have it inspected, telling them they must have improperly re-mounted the transmission and motor. Both times I was told by the shop manager that "nothing could be found wrong" with my car. I took the car to another mechanic, where the technician found that no less than eight (8) bolts were MISSING in the housing, and five more including a motor-mount bolt were cross-threaded and stripped. DO NOT TAKE your car here. Get it fixed somewhere else the first time, or youll do it the second time like me.

I would like to express my special thanks to you and your team at Cottman Transmission Greensboro for the truly great job you did on my Cadillac Escalade transmission rebuild project. Being from out of town I was literally at your mercy for the repairs. I was especially delighted with the detailed explanation of what you will be doing, the length of time and the warranty that you will be offering. Your final number after the repairs was exactly as you originally estimated, Thank you for a job well done. I will certainly keep you and your professional team in mind for anyone of my colleagues here at work who will be in need for a transmission repair/rebuild. It was a joy for me to have worked with such a dedicated and talented team

My car broke down in Greensboro about 1.5 hours away from my home, and the guys at Cottman were so accommodating. I left my car in Greensboro, and they kept it and repaired it, free of charge, until I was able to pick it up. One of the techs, Jody, explained everything to me in detail. When the problem ended up being much simpler than anticipated, he was completely honest and transparent. He didnt try to get me to buy unnecessary parts or charge me in excess for labor. In fact, he didnt charge me AT ALL for the diagnosis or labor! I consider myself very lucky that my car broke down in such a great spot – close to Cottman Transmission. Good, honest people who offer thorough and comprehensive expertise.

Jody at Cottman Transmission is the most honest mechanic that I have ever met. They inspected my van and could not replicate the problem that I was having. They did not try to sell me anything I did not need, and ask me to bring it back if the problem happened again. The old guy at the desk could use an attitude adjustment, but I feel good saying that you will not be taken advantage of by this shop based on the way they treated me. Update: I went by there yesterday to have my van looked at. Jody no longer works at this location. There are new people working there and I didnt like the impression I got from them. Smells fishy to me, and I am taking my ride elsewhere.
