I brought in my Dads old car, now formally named "Granddads Ride" by the family. This car is a 1998 Saturn and I love it. I love it enough that I gave my son my new 2015 Subaru to take off to grad school. My sisters understand how I feel, other family members, well, less so... That said, I brought it up from Missouri last week and after looking at reviews on the web and trying to ascertain where I could best have an old car that is no longer being made taken care of, I called Baum. They quickly got back to me and set up an appointment for the inspection. Before the appointment was made, I was made aware that on an old car from a state with easier weather, there may be problems that could be costly. Ryan told me that they would not do anything without talking to me. He promptly called me as promised and we discussed how far to go looking at a problem with the horn. He was very supportive as I got stressed and told him not to bother with the windshield wipers until we found out if the horn was a big thing. Given the age of the vehicle, my husband did not want me putting money into it. It was difficult to argue with that. It all turned out well. The repairs were fairly minor and not costly. I was treated with honestly and courtesy by all of the staff at the shop as I brought the car in and out dealing with an emission problem that required a "grandfather clause" in order to pass the inspection. I dont know if the team at Baum felt my Dads spirit, they sure seemed to. By the time we said goodbye I knew I had found the only place in Pittsburgh where Granddads Ride will want to go when he needs autodoctoring. Granddads Ride will not see the inside of another shop in Pittsburgh. We toasted our new relationship over bagels. Please bring your car to Baum. They will love your car. They will do excellent work as other reviews support. They will keep you informed before they do additional work and they will smile and be wonderful and friendly. Thank you all for making Granddads Ride feel important and valued!!!! Hugs to all of my new friends at Baum. Oh, and thanks for asking if I had the AAA so I could get the discount. I would not have thought to of that as I was just so overwhelmed that my car was going to be drivable.

Iv been to baum boulevard to replace a broken stud and check the emergency break of my 2005 dodge grand caravan in late april 2016. They have been nice enough to change my engine oil with the oil I bought to do the change myself but which I couldnt complete because of a thorn oil drain plug. They have been trying to reduce the cost of the reparation of the emergency break by keeping me informed during the repair process and offered me many options from minimum intervention to complete repair. They also gave me advices and and checked the cause of my engine light turning on a few days after for free. I left the shop pretty satisfied of their services though I would like to make a few remarks: -They told me that the emergency break was operational, although they recommended to change the pads and hardware. I declined the reparation, and they only tune the cable and fix it without changing pieces as I asked them to do. Now, the engine break system works, except it is too weak to stop the car. So I think saying that it is "operational" was a bit exagerating, tough they did offer me not to change anything to reduce the cost and I did choose to do so. -Another issue is that they relpaced the broken stud but they have overtightened the lug nuts so that it was no more possible for me to work on my car, and that when Ive had a flat tire yesterday just in front of Walmart auto center (!) These were not able to remove the wheel and fix the tire so that I had to let my car towed to the next repair shop. Thats it, so I appreciated much the flexible service and the offered options. They also made a few inspections for free and have been very nice to me. But there are a few things they missed, like saying they could make my emergency break be functional without replacing parts and that they over tightened my lug nuts (which should not happen in a good garage: you just have to use a tork wrench systematically!)

Long post but a must read: I recently visited Baum Boulevard just searching the internet looking for local mechanics with solid reviews that I could trust. I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon in very good condition, but starting to need tender loving care. For the most part the reviews read "fair, quick, professional, and cheap" those are all terms I want out of a local automotive place. The poor reviews talked about "customer service skills" well I dont know that mechanics have to be super nice, but I experienced a little "intolerance" initially on my first call, but I was on a mission and I already had received fair warning from the reviews, but new that if I got past the "lack of personality" you would get great work done. Anyway, I was having suspension problems and they took a look and found I needed work all around, instead of recommending I fix everything at once the mechanic gave me the recommendations based on priority. But, then he quoted me the price and it was unbelieveable more than 3 times less than the dealer. I agreed to do all of the suspension work and my car was ready the next day and rode like a dream. About a week later, I made a u-turn and heard a pop noise, I called them up, they said bring it in, I took it in and by the end of the day...problem solved. Although, I dont like revisiting a place for the same issue I can appreciate that they didnt hesitate to take care of it. We all make mistakes but it is how we handle the mistakes we made. I am pleased with how they handled my car, my time, and money.

Baum Boulevard Automotive is a little expensive- but you get what you pay for! The technicians at this shop are highly trained and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for anyone who is looking for quality work and recognizes that sometimes this costs a little more. These guys are professionals and dont appear to be out to cheat anyone. I had recently used this repair shop several times for suspension issue diagnostics (that took another local shop 3 weeks to determine they needed to bring in a specialist to "reset to brain"). Each time I took my older high mileage vehicle in, they were able to quickly and definitively identify the problem, as well as several other issues requiring attention. They provided me with proof that damage was caused at the previous shop and that an OEM part was defective. Furthermore, they gave me clear and specific recommendations as to how to proceed. The only complaint that I have is that they will only install genuine (Volvo in my case) parts due to their BOSCH certification. This can get expensive quickly, especially for European makes. This shop is going to maintain your vehicle using only the highest quality parts and to factory specifications. If you plan on keeping your car, it is well worth the investment. If you are just looking for someone to slap inspection stickers on your poorly maintained car, this is not the place for you! These guys know cars and they will recognize everything that makes your car unsafe for the road.
