My "non technical" son lives in Wilmington, I live in Kernersville NC (3 1/2 hours away). He called me to let me know his 1998 Maxima battery goes dead and the charging light is staying on. I told him to remove the battery and carry it to the nearest Autozone and let them recharge it and then test it (which would help me diagnose the car from 200 miles away). I told him if the battery tested bad after recharging, then buy a battery, install it and then call me. If the charging light is still on, buy an alternator from Autozone. Obviously I had him and his friend check for a missing belt, broken wire, etc. If the battery test good after they recharge it, then reinstall it, crank vehicle, then if light is still on, buy alternator from Autozone. I already had arrangements to pay someone local to install. I was VERY disappointed when he called me saying that Autozone would NOT recharge it stating "it is too dead and he needs a new one". I directed him to take it to a local garage and have them recharge and test it. He did and they said the battery is fine, just needed recharging. Because of Autozones "breach of trust" I left work Friday with a trailer, brought my son a vehicle to drive and then hauled it back to Kernersville, arriving at 4 am after working all day. The battery is fine, he has a bad alternator and I purchased one from Auto Supply. Autozone lost a retail sale, but worse, credibility. Oh, heres the kicker. I am a recertified MASTER ASE tech and service director at a Buick GMC dealer and we USED to use Autozone at times. Not sure if I will anymore. Hey upper management, are you listening? BTW, spoke to manager, Josh at the Autozone location near Carolina Beach, he said it should have never happened. Still with me? Good, hope Autozone learns something. Treat even young customers with respect, you never know the connections!!

Very helpful, went out of their way to help recycle my oil. then my rewards card quit working so they transferred my points over to a new card. Better prices than anyone in town and they almost always have the parts on hand or can get them the next day.

Great staff that can help you when you need it and wont harass you when you dont need them. If you dont know much about cars they dont insult your intelligence either.
