DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I was on the schedule to have someone come out and fix my plumbing problem. I was told I would be the second person to be seen on the list today. No one told me I needed to be sitting by my phone, I was waiting by the door. I did not hear them call and when I called back less than 15 minutes after the missed call I was told I had been skipped and the plumber was in Wrightsville Beach already. I had to be at the hospital for work and could not wait for them to come back in several hours. When I explained to the "receptionist" on the phone that it would have been helpful to know that I needed to be expecting a phone call, SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Crazy right? I was not rude, I did not curse, all I said was that it would have been helpful to know ahead of time to be expecting a phone call in order to get someone out here. After being hung up on I called back to ask to speak with a manager, she informed me that the owner would be in later and rudely hung up again. I called a different number and some other lady answered, I inquired what time I needed to call back to speak with the manager and for the name of the other lady who hung up on me. She said the "owner" would be back at 1 and would not give me a name for the other lady, instead she hung up on me again. I am completely astonished as to how these people are still in business. The owner ended up calling me at 1 and from the moment I got on the phone with her it was clear she had no intention of righting this wrong. I told her what had happened and instead of addressing how I was treated she went on a ten minute rant about how their policy is to call before they go out to any customers house and how TIME IS MONEY. I explained that I understood the reason they call ahead of time and that I was not disputing their policy, I was only upset about not being made aware of such a policy ahead of time and that I was extremely upset about how the phone call was handled, hanging up on customers who are voicing their concerns. She said she couldnt believe her receptionist of 30 years could have such a complaint and that no one had ever complained about her before now and that this is a "family business". So not only was I hung up on, I was basically told that I was lying about her receptionist and that they did not care if they were rude, because money is the only part in this equation that matters to them. It was very clear to me at that point what kind of people I was dealing with and who really ran their company. Dont waste your time or your money on such a horrible company. Needless to say we went with someone else.

I called J.S. Minitz on Wednesday before ten thirty, after experiencing a back-up in my Master Bedroom toilet and shower. I was told they were "slammed" but I would be put on stand-by and they took both my home and cell numbers and would give me a call to tell me if they could "squeeze" me in before the end of the day. After checking in periodically during the day, I called at four and asked if I could make an appointment for tomorrow morning-that way I would know for sure they were coming. I was given an appointment between 9-10. Ive used J.S. Mintz several times in the past, and believe in loyalty when someone does a good and professional job. When I had not heard from Mintz at 10 Thursday, I called to find out when I could expect the plumber. I was told the plumber was "finishing up" and would be at my house within an half hour. When I called at 11, I was told they had "run into a problem" but would be at my house shortly. When I called at noon-I informed the "owner" that my time was precious and that I expected to be compensated for the fact that I was the one calling them for updates and that no one was here-two full hours after my "window". She informed me that the previous client had asked for additional work to be done. Im not sure why that was my problem, but she seemed to believe it justified my waiting and wasting 3 hours of my morning. I informed her that if her plumbers were not at my house in 30 minutes, I would never use her again. I was on the phone with Benjamin Franklin plumbing when the truck arrived at 1227. Ben Franklin informed me that they reduce a clients bill $5 for every minute that they are late. J.S. Mintz informed me that I could go on their website and get a $10 coupon to reduce my bill. If it were possible to give negative stars in a rating, needless to say, I would! I will not use J.S. Mintz again, nor will I recommend them. UPDATE: The technicians were very polite and apologized profusely. They cut my service charge in half. While that softens the blow, time is the one resource that you cant more of...once its gone, its gone. I will think long and hard before I call them again.

My experience with J.S. Mintz was incredibly disappointing. Not only was I over charged, but I was deceived about these charges. I was charged for two hours of work and a service fee! The best part: they didnt do a damn thing. I had to have another plumbing company fix the problem the following day. As it turns out, the "problem" that J.S. Mintz diagnosed that would require a $3,000 fix turned out to be a $50 problem that was fixed by the next plumber. They are a family business and consider themselves to be the best or as their slogan states, "the original," but the current management couldnt be further from what I would expect from a family business. They seem to think that they can make their own rules. They will charge you by the hour starting at the time you call! And whats more, they will charge you hourly (double during afterhours) and THEN also charge you for the use of the appropriate equipment. I guess I, being a young female, must have looked like a fool, and was taken advantage of.

Hello, I am new to the area and felt that JS MIntz Plumbing Services provided timely and professional services. In fact, having found numerous issues with our home warranty, they went out of their way to assist me and make me feel welcomed to the area. They replaced my water heater, provided assistance in the kitchen on several items and today, replaced a seal on a toilet. They were always able to provide excellent services. I highly recommend this service.

called for a Sewer backup issue. It was 10pm on a week night....so an after hours emergency call. A representative called me back w/n 10mins and showed up approx 1 hr later. Prompt in my opinion, given the late hours. They went straight to work and quickly resolved the problem best they could. They were very professional and courteous. Ive used them once or twice for other issues (life in a 70yr old home!) and will continue to use them.
