UPDATE: August 2 - After further phone calls with the owner, he was willing to work with us and even issued us a FULL refund even though we had only asked for a refund for the unauthorized repairs. UPDATE: July 11 - When we spoke to the owner, on July 8, through his rudeness, he said he was going to refund our money. However, when we called back after several days of receiving no credit to our account, he said he decided he was NOT going to refund our money because he was MAD at us about the reviews we had left. ORIGINAL REVIEW: On July 5, we had a pipe burst and subsequently flood our basement. We contacted Comstock Plumbing because we had used them in the past. They came out the next day and gave us an estimate to fix the pipe ($285) and to fix all our toilets ($120). He fixed the pipe that day but got called away by dispatch so had to return the next day (July 7) to fix the toilets. The work on the pipe was done quickly and well and they were there when they said wed be. When he came back to fix the toilet, he discovered he would need to cut a hole in our wall to replace the wall valve but asked my husband for permission to perform the work first since it would require the hole. My husband okayed it and prepared to pay the $124 invoice he had written up. His assistant then took him back upstairs and apparently while up there, they realized that just a flapper replacement (which he was going to do for us as a courtesy since it would only take 10 minutes) wasnt enough but they would also have to replace the flush valve. At no point did they tell us of the new repairs required or inform us of any change in price. When they came back down, he added $110 to the invoice claiming he actually had to replace a flush valve. W were upset because we can replace a flush valve ourselves for about $15 but he had done it without authorization for $110. But my husband payed it so the plumber would leave. He later called to complain and requested our money back because the plumber had not received authorization to perform that additional work. The lady we spoke to said she would have the owner call us the next day. When he called, he was insulting, rude, constantly interrupting and demeaning. As we explained the situation, he first tried to claim that we shouldnt be upset about the price because we werent charged a service charge, which we refuted because we had been charged a service charge the first day for the pipe repair. He implied we should have also been charged a service charge for the second day, even though the only reason the plumber had to come back the second day was because he was called away by dispatch the first day so could not finish the work. When we explained we never would have authorized a flush valve repair for $110 when we could do it ourselves for $15, he laughed and insulted us. We then when on to explain how, upon examination, the flush valves in our toilets were the same ones that were there when the plumber arrived, so we dont think he actually DID the repair he charged us for, he got belligerent. When we further pointed out that two of the three toilets he claimed to repair were still having problems he said "well you obviously dont like us so call someone else to fix it" and hung up.

Disgraceful, unprofessional, rude customer service. We have spent well over 3K at this business in the last 2 years. In Feb they replaced our hot water heater. It is now June and they are yet to remove the old hot water heater. My husband drained the old hot water heater and carried it to the garage to facilitate the process. It is still in our garage. When I called the office to request removal the person to answer the phone was rude, condescending and dishonest. I listened to her explanation as to why it would be $80 ($60 service fee and $20 disposal fee) for someone to remove the old water heater. I tried to explain we should not be charged a $60 service fee for returning to pick it up because we were already charged the fee when they replaced it and they should have taken it then. I say tried to explain because I was repeatedly interrupted. She began restating the fee would be $80. I tried to speak and was told not to interrupt her. So, I waited until she finished and started speaking. She interrupted me at least 3 times before I finally said that she had told me not to interrupt her while she was speaking and I would appreciate the same. She proceeded to speak over top of me stating exactly what she had said before but in a tone of voice as if I was a child that was unable to understand what she was saying. At this point it was apparent that we were not effectively communicating so i requested to speak to someone else. I was shocked to be told she was the only person in the office because I could clearly hear someone else speaking in the background. When I mentioned I could hear someone else in the office I was told she was the only one I could speak with.

I called Comstock Plumbing on Monday about water pressure issues that I isolated to my whole house iron removing water filter. I live in the Appalachian mountains and Im on well water. They were able to send Jay out the next day, first thing in the morning to troubleshoot the issue. - Jay and his coworker took the whole filter system apart piece by piece checking for a blockage. They even cleaned all the goop off of a pipe that they removed from one of the two tanks. Jay explained everything he was doing and answered all of my questions. He showed me what he found that was causing the pressure issues, (two tiny pebbles in the backflow preventer) and put everything back together. I checked the water pressure and, bingo! it was fixed. - The cost was very reasonable. The service fee and an hour or so of labor, (they charge in 15 minute increments). They also have a coupon for $25 off a service call on their website. - I called another outfit that had won the 2013 Angies List best blah blah blah, who tried to tell me over the phone that the whole system needed to be replaced. I was really irritated that he was trying to junk my whole system before the tech even came out, so I called Comstock instead. And Im glad that I did. - Comstock had been in business for 40+ years, which is definitely a good sign. - I will definitely be calling on Comstock for any future problems with my water filter system.

I had septic issues two years in a row. The first year it took three visits to resolve. Third visit was because they didnt verify that everything was working, they assumed it was. I still had to pay for the third visit. The plumbers were nice enough. This year, the plumber shows up was a complete, a$$ to me and my girlfriend. One of his quotes to my girlfriend was" I will stand here as long as youre paying me". The plumber couldnt tell me why water was flowing back into my septic, he actually asked me!!! They left without fixing a thing! (youd better believe I got a bill for that, its actually kind of funny when the bill came, under description of work, it was blank. The amount owed sure wasnt). I decided Id had enough. Looked on line and found Tri-County out of Hagerstown Md. They came down, took a look said "youve got a broken pipe" and pin pointed its exact location. They showed up the next day with a backhoe, sure enough the brake was in that exact location, problem fixed in under two hours. They too left without verifying water was flowing out of the house. They came back and fixed the issue. The amazing part is they didnt charge me for their mistake!!!! To sum up my experience, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!
