I originally brought in my 99 Mustang to Jim and Sons after a Conrads botched a basic ATF service resulting in poor shifting and performance. After looking at it, the mechanics at Jim and Sons were able to discover low transmission fluid levels and only charged me $6 to top it off. I immediately knew this was a place I could trust. I brought my beloved Mustang back to them to investigate a grinding from my drivetrain after a "high performance" shop installed a new LSD and gear kit, in addition to a problem with pulsing brakes. Long story short, my entire rear-end had to be rebuilt in order to get my car running the way it should. While they were at it, they also installed some additional high performance parts - an aluminum driveshaft and shift kit - to complement my overhauled transmission. Despite the immense amount of work that had to be done, I got my car back in about a week and paid a very reasonable price for all the labor and parts that were involved. My pony now runs like it has never before - smooth with crisp, hard shifts, responsive acceleration, and hard stopping power that I have never had before. It is a dream to drive now, and it is truly the car I knew it could be. I owe all my thanks to the guys at Jim and Sons for performing expert service where other shops fell short, and a special thanks to Max for treating me with the utmost respect and care. He kept me updated every step of the way, and did not try to upcharge me for the extra labor that was involved for the last minor tweaks. It was easily the best automotive service experience I have ever had, and I would fervently recommend this shop to absolutely anyone that needs transmission or general automotive service. Thank you guys! -Rob Mooney

These people are great - they really are a throw-back to family-owned business of the past. We were 4 hours from home on our way to New England on a family vacation and had a transfer case blow out. Thank golly, we had AAA and were able to get a tow and a recommendation on a local transmission service provider. Before we arrived, they had agreed to look over the vehicle and recommended a place for a rental car so we could continue our trip in the event they could not fix the vehicle that day. I made arrangements with the rental car company just in case, and after we arrived and it was determined this was not a quick fix (not a broken axle, but a transfer case with no life left), they drove me to the rental location so I could pick it up. They even went in and got me a better rate (and I thought I had a good one already). Tried to tip Bev for being so nice, and she would not take it. When I insisted, she took my $10 bill on the condition shed take it off the invoicel. We continued on our trip, and they kept us informed every step of the way on progress, estimated costs, and worked to have the job done when we came back through town. Lo and behold, everything was done professionally, and when I went to pay, Bev handed me back my tip. I really cant say enough nice things about this place. They are very professional and go over-board on their service, and their work is competently done and reasonably-priced. I was very satisfied with our encounter there. If I lived closer, I would go there exclusively for service.

There I was at the corner of Rt. 59 and Rt. 91 at the light when I heard and felt a loud pop in my 2004 Honda Accord. My engine was running, but my car wasnt moving. Now what? I know- I’ll call that Jim and Sons Transmission just up the road that I used to diagnose the trouble I was having with my last car over the internet. I called and spoke with Danny who had me explain the problem then he told me to hold tight and he would call a tow truck. He called back a minute later and said the tow would be to me in less than 10 minutes and it was. Shout out to Lori at Mike’s Towing, You made my first time (towing) great- Be sure to put their number in your phone for emergencies. Back at the shop I was greeted by Bev who was very upbeat and professional. She explained how thing would proceed as I waited for my ride home. She did offer a courtesy shuttle ride or rental if I needed it. Less than an hour later at home I received a call from Max explaining what he found (broken axle) and a detailed description of the charges to fix it. It was fixed with an added transmission fluid change in less than 24 hours. This is a fantastic Akron family owned business that has been in the area for years, but you wouldnt know it by their great looking, up to date facility. If you want to have a successful business, sit in their waiting room for a bit, feel the positive vibe and learn how to take care of customers. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Would you like to know what’s wrong with Jim and Sons? …Absolutely nothing! For the past two weeks I’ve had a horrible squealing noise coming from underneath my truck. A friend looked at it, told me it was the u-joints and offered to fix it for me. While I did appreciate his generosity, the squealing continued after his attempt. I then took my truck to a large chain auto service center to get their opinion and an estimate. Their diagnosis was also the u-joints and their estimate was through the roof. I asked another friend if he knew of an honest affordable place that I could take my vehicle. Before I could finish asking he blurted out “Jim and Sons”. I set up an appointment to have my truck looked at the next day. Beverly and Max were two people that I dealt with at Jim and Sons. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more pleasant experience dealing with anyone not only in an Auto shop but also in any service industry as I had with those two. My truck was dropped off the following day. Beverly was nice enough to drive me back to work within minutes. A few hours later Max called to let me know that my truck was ready. Not only did they save me well over $200.00, they also fixed the u-joint that my friend installed incorrectly. I would recommend Jim and Sons in a heartbeat to anyone. Do yourself a favor and go see them. You will not regret it. Jeff Coleman Akron, Ohio

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jim & Sons!! Unfortunately, the transmission on our Hyundai Sonata needed replaced recently. The dealer was frustrating and Hyundai, at first, would not stand behind their warranty. It was so refreshing speaking to Bev at Jim & Sons. Her honesty and professional, yet friendly, demeanor was so appreciated. She and the technicians there were very knowledgeable and were able to get us in quickly, even included the towing cost, and were able to give us TWICE the warranty (months and miles) on the transmission as the dealer offered. Jim & Sons also performed the job more reasonably and being a family owned and operated business for over 50 years, with excellent reviews, we had total confidence in their work. Bev and the staff went out of their way to be helpful to us and could not have been any more pleasant and prompt with communication, even taking the time to explain in detail, in an easy to understand way, exactly what had happened and what services would be completed. (Incidentally, we respected that Hyundai DID eventually provide great customer service and reimbursed us the cost of the new transmission!) Our family would HIGHLY recommend Jim & Sons Transmission Specialists!! :)
