I have never had an experience like I have had with Coughlin to have my car maintenanced. I scheduled an appoitment to have an oil change, tires rotated, and breaks changed if they were needed. When I arrived, the woman at the desk did not acknowledge my presence for at least 5 minutes while I was just standing there looking around and not sure what to do. I understand she was with another customer but a simple "I will be right with you" would have been great. As she finished up with that customer she did finally tell me she would be right with me as another employee was asking me if he needed to pull my car into the bay. I told him I had no idea no one has assisted me yet and that is when they both asked if I had an appointment and when I stated yes, he said he needed to pull my car in... Okay great to know. Once the lady was finally ready to help me she verified that I was there to have an oil change, tire rotation, and breaks done. I told her that was correct. She then stated that if I need my breaks done it will be done first thing after lunch. I told her when I made this appoitment I stated that I will be waiting with my car and that I do not have 3 hours to wait while the employees take lunch, if this was the case why was I not scheduled accordingly? When I stated this, the lady said that they will just take a look at my breaks first to determine if I need them. After about 30 minutes she came up to me and said she has the report on my car. She said that they did do the oil change and tire rotation but they found a nail in my tire and they were unable to patch it because my tire was to bald and that I need a whole new break system for my car and I was quoted 300.00 for the front and 325.00 for the back. Now I drive a Cobalt and I can do my whole break system myself for 150.00 and I would have but I no longer have access to the equipment I need to do them myself so with that being said I had faith in Coughlins to do them for me and I was so wrong. After the shock of 625.00 to do my breaks and quote for 180.00 for 2 new tires (which is more reasonable) I asked the lady why in the world are they that much!! 625?!?! She stated they are GMC parts and that if I want to get the new tires and breaks it will be done first thing after lunch. I asked her if the GMC parts were made of gold because I will never pay 625.00 for breaks for my car! I feel that I was taken advantage of because I was a young blonde female and they acted like I knew nothing about cars. I even stated that my tires are getting to the point that they need replaced and if they just could patch it for now and I was told no. I left with only getting my oil changed and tires rotated but the main reason was for my breaks because I knew they were bad I took my business elsewhere 2 days later for my breaks and a second opinion for my tires. I was told by them that I do need 2 new tires but they CAN be patched and that Coughlins should have done so for me just to get me by until I could get 2 new tires. They also said that my front breaks are shot and that the back breaks just need cleaned and aligned. Since they were honest with me, I gave them my business and for 2 new tires, front breaks, and an air filter, I paid less than 300.00 for all. I will NEVER go back to Coughlins since I felt I inconvenienced the staff and the lunch break and was being ripped off because I was young and they just wanted to get me out of the shop so they can go have lunch. I wasted half my day for a service that I was not satisfied with. I will never return which is a shame because I bought my car from the Newark location and have had services done at the Pataskala location before but after this experience , I am warning everyone to stay away!!

I was recently in an automobile accident and my 2006 Saturn Vue was totaled. I did some research on a replacement vehicle and determined that the 2010 Chevy Equinox LT2 or LTZ would be the right choice for my budget and personal preferences. I searched a few online sites that showed listings for that make and model year and found one at Jack Maxton Chevy of Columbus, Jeff Wyler in Canal Winchester and Coughlin Chevy in Pataskala. I went to Maxton first since it was closest, but the vehicle had sold 2 hours before I arrived. Then I went to Jeff Wyler and that vehicle had failed a safety inspection. I looked at a couple of other ones on the lot and the salesman tried to talk me into a lease which I did not want. So I called Coughlin on Friday, September 18th after the lot was closed and left a voicemail indicating my interest in the 2010 Equinox that they had listed on their website to make sure it was still available since I would be making a 30 minute trip to do a test drive. I received a call from Dale with internet sales that same evening (which was a pleasant surprise) and he told me that the car was still on the lot. I arranged a test drive for the 19th. When I arrived Dale, got me right into the Equinox and told me to take her out for a drive. I took the car for about 2 hours to look it over carefully and show my spouse. It met all my requirements so when I returned we got the paperwork going to purchase the vehicle. I did indicate some concern about my credit, but the credit team was able to get me taken care of. I did ask if they could throw in an all wheel alignment and a balance and rotation which they did without hesitation. Dale did not try to steer me into something I didnt want and was fantastic to work with. Please make sure he sees this review. I would definitely refer customers to him and to the Pataskala dealership. My week was pretty rough after the accident, but I couldnt have asked for a better outcome. The process was smooth and easy which is refreshing compared to previous car buying experiences.

UPDATE: I wanted to post an update on this review to show that Mr. Davis and his team contacted to help in resolving this issue. I received a call from Mr. Pat Davis to inquire on the review posted below. I explained in further detail my experiences and he made a sincere effort to help in "earning trust" in the company. He offered to take my car and look at the issue described and gave me a loaner during that time. Some minor repairs were made (at the dealerships expense) and I now have my car with no issues. I called him the next day to thank him for taking the time to call and make the attempt to resolve, what could have been, a very bad situation. I do appreciate what Mr. Davis, and his team has done but this couldve been done a long time ago if the Collision Repair Mgr wouldve consulted with upper management on what they couldve done at that moment. A "sweep it under the rug" approach is never a good tactic... especially in that line of business. Regardless of his approach I do applaud Pat and the team for taking the necessary steps to what needs to be done. With that I feel that I need to at least offer a better rating. -Tim Pence Original Post: This place is one of the worst dealerships I have encountered. I got some body work done several months ago and an employee left drugs in my car while cleaning it. The manager said "it was a silly little mistake" and I shouldnt let that affect my decision to do business with them in the future. With my line of work that silly little mistake couldve cost me my job. A few weeks back I had a recall on my car and thought that since that was a different department I would be ok... I asked them to look at another issue to see if they could fix the problem. I got the recall done and then 1 day later my passenger side rear turn signal stopped working and Im still trying to find the issue. Sadly enough, I live 2 minutes away but I will travel 2 hours, if needed, to buy our next vehicle next spring.
