This was the most awful experience I have ever had with an auto repair shop in my 47 years. My car broke down while I was on business in Astoria and so I had it towed to Aamco because they were right next to my hotel. I told Dan that I thought it was the starter because we had tried to jump it, but that had no effect. He told me to wait and he would take a look at it. After 20 minutes, he told me he tested the battery and the starter and it wasnt that so he wanted approval to do diagnostic testing for a fee of $105 for an hour. I approved. He told me they would get right to it and give me a call to let me know what they found. That was at 10:15am. At 12:10, I hadnt heard back and I was basically stranded until I got my car back. I called him and he said his guys went to lunch, but hadnt finished the diagnostic. He said he would call. At 2:15, four hours after I left it there, he called and said it was the starter after all and that the cost would be $500+ to fix. I told him that I would pay for the repair but not the 1 hour diagnostic testing because he failed to identify that it was the starter prior to doing that testing. I knew the price was way high as I had checked it out online. He told me he would put my car out front and that I could have a tow truck come and pick it up and hung up on me! Theres no way I would have time to tow it somewhere else and have it fixed that day, so I had to get a room for another night, and make arrangements to have it towed to an outstanding auto repair shop (North Coast Auto) While I was making the arrangements, Dan from Aamco called me back and asked if we were going to have the car repaired today or not, to which I replied not and informed him that I was having it towed elsewhere and that I shouldnt have to pay that feel. Once we got off the phone, the tow truck company called him to tell them they were coming to get it and he called them off saying he wouldnt release it until I paid the $105. So now its going on 3pm and still no repair. I go over to pay him the $105 and tell him what I thought of his business model, and he started yelling at me, telling me what an awful customer I was and that I didnt want to pay his guys. He called me stupid and said, "stupid is as stupid does" over and over again. Finally another employee told him to leave and go in another part of the business. I could not believe what an awful experience that was. He took up my entire day, I had to get it towed to another place and book another night at the hotel because of his crappy job. DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS. THEY DO NOT RESPECT THE CUSTOMER. THEY TRIED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY TIME AND MY MONEY. THEY ARE A BAD BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly and whole hardheartedly recommend the Astoria OR Aamco to anyone looking to get their moneys worth with confidence and quality work done correctly by trained master certified technicians, that are kept up to date with the changes. Dan, the Operations / Service Mgr, along with his crew, went above and beyond all expectations for us. Our vehicle had broken down in Puyallup WA. Oct 30, 2016. We had called ahead for the work, made arrangements to have a (heavy duty rebuild) done on our 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 transmission. We were quoted 5 days. Little to say, we were told it was finally done 4 weeks later, picked it up and it broke down again within 2 days. This time I was able to bring it into my hometown Aamco in Astoria, OR. The service, care and concern Dan and his crew took to figure out what the problems were with our transmission, was beyond what any other business would probably have done. They worked tirelessly to figue out and correct the careless mistakes on the other shops behalf, kept us constantly updated and reassured us that they would figure out what the issue was. They kept their word and finally, after 4 1/2 total months, the truck was completed. The transmission runs perfect! Its nice to know there are still people out there that believe in doing things right the first time and would go that extra mile. I have since learned that each Aamco is run independently. You would be wise to call for advice or stop in at the Astoria Shop, you wont be disappointed.

First off, id give them a 10 if they would let me. I took my Jeep Wrangler in on June 17, 2014. A man named Richard, a mechanic who works there whom i spoke to over the phone told me to bring it in and they would give me a free diagnostic. After they placed my car on the lift, Rich and Richard told me to come into the shop so i could witness first hand my transmission shaking like a can of paint in a mixer. Richard and Rich looked at eachother and claimed, "this is a new one." I asked if they knew what the problem was, and they stated no. They said they would have to drop the transmission, and pull it apart to find out the problem. This was going to cost me $1200 for just the labor.. So, less then 24 hours i got a phone call from Richard, he told me my jeep was fixed and ready to pick up, only owing him $258. I replied confused,"Why only $258?" He told me they found out what the problem was. It wasnt the transmission, it was my universal joints. You could not imagine how wonderful this news was to me. So, when i got to the shop i thanked Richard, Rich, and the other mechanic for their honesty when they could have told me it was the transmission, and i would have believed it. Thank you AAMCO for your honestly and integrity which is so hard to find now a days.

My Alternator went out on my Lexus LS400 30 minutes from Astoria. I towed it to AAMCO as I knew they were a chain and I could take it to a more local (to my house) AAMCO should the solution not work. They guy at the desk, Xander, stayed late to meet me and check my car in which was much appreciated. He quoted me an estimated price and I would need to wait for the technician to be in on Monday, unfortunately, but not uncommon. Pros: friendly service, and so far quality work. Fair prices for labor. Willing to be reasonable when asked for discounts. 12 month warranty. Cons: Estimates are a bit off. Understandable to be off a little, but seem to have large variance on hours of labor required. Service: Is friendly. I am used to unsolicited updates from my mechanic (also a chain) and more accurate estimates but they did match my best experience for friendly and honest service especially when a less reputable mechanic could take advantage of my situation as a vacationer. All-in-all, a positive experience though not the cheapest, but they warranty their work for 12 months. Nothing beats your own mechanic of course, but I would take my car back there again should I need work in Astoria.
