Im really sad to rate this as only 2 stars. My wife and I dined here last night. The service began spot on - super friendly, but then kind of slacked off. The wine list was impressive, but was hoping to find some Oregon Gamay. We looked over the menu, and decided on the salmon and steak, with the tomato app, which was a fun and delicious caprese play. It then took about 35min to bring out our entrees after the app had arrived. The steak, ordered medium rare, was a smidge pink in the middle and definitely med well...near jerky. Served with a piece of salted steamed broccoli and 3 halves of roasted fingerling potatoes, that dish was underwhelming. The salmon dish was equally weak. Overcooked and dry salmon paired with what appeared to be pearl cousous with asparagus and mushrooms for the second dish. The salmon was underseasoned and the accompaniments were over salted. The service disappeared, then when they came to gather our plates we asked for the check. They brought us the dessert menu. The building itself has plenty of charm. We had high hopes for this place. Between the lack of quality prepared food and the lack of quality service, we were underwhelmed to say the least. The Heirloom Tomato dish was rather tasty.

Salad supposed to be warm spinach with carmelized onions & pears. There were no pears. Spinach soggy, no decent taste at all. Entree was only pasta dish - very fancy names on their menu - but do not get your hopes up. Pasta was "ok" but about 5 inches round, one inch deep and cost about $20 for a few carrots & pasta. Still had hopes for dessert. Only 4 choices, 2 simple breadstick like things not ordered and then choice of plain ice cream or creme brulee. That was it. Creme brulee ok, nothing to remember. Went to this place when it opened upstairs at the Grille & was served transparent noodles, no veggies, no garnish, just clear, translucent noodles on a plain plate. Completely tasteless. This was when they opened. Gave them another chance yesterday at the fancy downstairs thing. Very elaborate menu. Very plain and/or tasteless food. Very, very overpriced. There are about 30 other very decent restaurants within 4 blocks of this place with far lower prices and profoundly better food. No pretense, no fancy menus, just very decent food at most all the other restaurants on Thrid Street.

We visited The Barberry and the McMinnville area in April of this year. The downtown area where this restaurant is located is nice and so we walked around the neighborhood. Our original intention was to eat upstairs at the outdoor patio grill restaurant in the same building. With a two hour wait we decided to eat downstairs. The restaurant was empty around 7:00PM so we were seated quickly. We had the roasted chicken and the steak. We also ordered the risotto and all the food was great. No issues with quality. The service was also very good. Our server was very friendly and she also made some very good recommendations. She was very accommodating with our dietary needs. I would go back to this restaurant when we are back in the area.

My Wife and I went to The Barberry for a Friday night dinner and it was a fantastic experience. The Restaurant was beautiful, and had an atmosphere that was definitely fine dining, but not pretentious. As for the food, I can say that the steaks were incredible. My Wife and I agreed that they were the best steaks wed each had. We are looking forward to a return trip in the near future.

A beautiful night in McMinnville. We looked for a nice restaurant to try and stumbled upon the Barberry. We had the Oysters, Truffle Fromage, Wayu steak and Gnocchi, topped off with some nice wine and an Old Fashioned for me. The entire meal was delicious, well prepared, and well presented. The steak was to die for. So good. Highly recommended for a high quality dining experience.

We dined here while in town for the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon. The food was great, and the server was very friendly. She was really great at helping us choose some glasses of wine- I think it was actually the best glass of wine I had in the valley! Wish we could have stayed for more wine and dessert but we had to race in the morning! Will be back for sure.

Everything was delicious. Pricing is as expected for this level of quality and type of establishment. After starting a bit slow and confused, service was friendly and attentive.

The brunch was delicious. Prices are a little on the higher side, so its more of a treat yo self kind of place than an everyday restaurant. Great wine options too.
