After some research, I cant find where the government gives co-op businesses the power to form monopolies in theyre area. But apparently I missed something, because thats exactly what BCT does. Not one person likes it out here. My downloads have never exceeded 1.4 mbps but its usually at 10-70 kbps. Id get Comcast, but, they cant be out here. I have several friends that work for Comcast around Oregon city, and they told be the same thing: that they want to come out here to get more customers, but they cant because of their monopoly. I had to wait several hours to write this because the Internet was down, as per the usual (seriously, the other reviews arent lying, its down just as much if not more than its up). My brother who lives on Mt. Hood gets much better internet, and he lives in the middle of nowhere. Honestly, Im not sure Id its even worth paying for it. The company is run by board members who get to decide when we get our excess money returned, as is supposed to happen in a co-op, but that never happens, because the members are most likely taking the money for themselves. I live very near the building, and with dsl, the Internet gets better the closer you get to the source, but it doesnt here. There is no word for how much I hate this provider. I hope I or someone else can get them on a legal case and finally get Comcast out here. I hope you a save your money and go with satellite.

Worst internet possible. When I run speed tests the only place in the country that are as bad are the Appalachians. When I call them they tell me that their tests show Im getting the full speeds Im paying for. ???? If there were another service available in the area I would switch. Problem is they are a co-op telephone service and arent bound by the same FCC rules that corporations are. The only way to do better is to dissolve the company. (I pay for 6mbs and my downloads run anywhere from 20kbs to around 280kbs on a good day) All the excuses I get are BS, my daughters boyfriend ran an IT division of an international company and every time I ask him about something Ive been told he tells me it is just not true. Sometimes I know more that the tech people Im talking to. The only time Ive ever had good service was when one of the techs gave me a dedicated IP address. The next time I needed help the tech saw my dedicated address and deleted it, back to the stone age.

For $110 a month, you would think BCT would provide at least decent services, but no. Also, I have never before have I seen a company have a up-time below 50% for internet, but BCT proved me wrong. If youre services are NOT dropped at minimal twice per hour for at least 20 seconds a pop, you are lucky! Also, $110 a month for "15 MBPS" while even fresh out-of-the-box, we topped at 4 MBPS down. If you are unlucky enough to move out to Beavercreek OR, you are better off going satellite or a telephone company such as Verizon or AT&T for internet, phone, and T.V. This is a company whom have clearly spent far more on their headquarters from nickel and dimming residence instead of improving services so much so, it brings to question if monopolys have truly been banished. If you are going cross country looking for the worst ISPs, this is defiantly a hot spot for you!

We moved into the Beavercreek area a a few years back. When I purchased their internet service I was told Cable internet would be available "Within a year." well, A year passed & I contacted them and they said another 2 years! From reading other reviews theyre still giving the same answer to folks that have called recently. The DSL they provide is slow, unreliable, outdated and VERY overpriced. ($100 a month for dsl!) Not allowing other isps into the area seems very monopoly-esque. It seems like BCTel is more worried about turning the beavercreek "park" (a field) into a field with better manicured grass. I think providing the people of the community a higher speed more affordable internet service should be put on top priority. Not making a field into a slightly better manicured field.

Like other reviews, service is incredibly unreliable. Only thing worse than the reliability is the value..... BCT customers get 1/4 the internet speed for over 2X the price of what all major providers in more urban areas such as Oregon City charge. Online gaming is nearly impossible, Netflix or video streaming takes longer to buffer than the length of the actual video, and for some reason cable updates only happen during prime time so we miss our shows once every other week. With so much complaining, why continue to pay? BCT has a monopoly and they are the only service provider in the area. I am waiting for the day when Comcast OR ANYONE ELSE comes out here and I will leave this company immediately!

worst internet service, EVER. High Cost and Lousy. paying nearly 100.00 for less than 5, doing their speed test is 0.01 mb uploads and downloads..worst ever. their excuse is too many online at the same time. NOT good enough. we will be cancelling and recommending the FCC investigate now cant even get onto a web page..you suck Mike Redding who had a post of 5 stars..you are the biggest liar on this planet, no way has anything to do with the power to the home! the fact BCT has NEVER upgraded their servers and keep bringing on new customers with 15 year old technology. and their excuse is " too many online at one time?" HELLO BS

These guys get a bad rap. Its understandable, were consumers and we dont like not having options. I just wonder how much of the distaste people feel is due more to ignorance about how bandwidth can be in rural areas, or even how outdated wiring within the home can interrupt or affect fluctuation and the speeds you get. For a small, local business without the billions at their disposal that a Comcast or CenturyLink has these guys do pretty well. The service is somewhat pricey, and sure the bandwidth goes down during prime time, but these guys deserve more than the one star people are giving them.

Im a PC gamer. The max I can get at my hour is 8mbps. When I do a speed test. Im getting 3.5, and when Im downloading Im only getting 1 if not less. With all of the money they get, you would think that we would get better service eith better ways of getting that service. As a community, I think we have had enough of this. Either they get better or we will get something else. I cant even watch YouTube when someone is watching Netflix of on their computer. And the outsourcing of their Internet? Dont even get me started.

I just bought a cell phone from Beaver Creek Telephone and, as usual, the service was fantastic. Kenya took care of me and helped me through a tricky situation - I bought an "unlocked" phone from another source and took it into the Beaver Creek office to get it activated. We discovered that it wasnt really "unlocked" at all and wouldnt work, so I finally bought one of the phones they had in stock. It pays to stay with people you trust. Theyve been so good to me for these past years. I recommend them highly.
