Ive been here for two previous cuts which I am not stellar about just because its very close to me. Ive had 3 different barbers the time I was there. This 3rd time I needed a haircut for a friends upcoming wedding. I brought a photo with me which I showed the barber before she started. During the cut, she turned me away from the mirror, I then felt large portions of my hair come off the top of my head. This was when I told her to stop. Once turned around and facing the mirror, my hair was 1/2 way bald. I was very upset. I just told her to finish it as there was no way to fix it. On my way to the register, the barber didnt mention that she messed up. As the person at the register was waiting for my $21, I told him that I wasnt happy with the cut and showed him the photo I brought in vs. what I received (bald hair cut which I could have done myself). He then gave me a "free haircut" card at that same location. Why would I ever go back to this location and get another hack job? The barbers here are inexperienced and need training. If you want to be a guinea pig, go ahead. As for my friends wedding, it was one of embarrassment as everyone knew what I typically looked like and now I surprised them with a bald look. I would give minuses on this review if I could.

This place is ok if you want an edgy shorter cut. If you have and want to keep your longer hair, avoid like the plague. Several stylists have done a great job here way back when I had a short razored bob, and now that it (was) on the long side, the stylists have just never gotten the cut right when it comes to layering, razoring, feathering, thinning, really any of it. I asked for an inch off and to thin out the layers- by the time he was done trying to fix the choppy mess he half-assed, I had lost about 5 inches. I could have done it better myself and still had to fix it when I got home. Further more, Im pretty sure my stylist was high since he kept asking me the same questions over and over and hollering out 4:20 when the clock struck. Obviously he hadnt waited for it. Im not sure if Im more mad at him for the terrible cut or at myself for being nice about it and tipping to boot.

So I decided to go to Bishops because it was close to my place. When I sat down to get my haircut, the guy barely asked me what I wanted, just "How do you like your sides?" I tried to explain to him what I wanted overall and after looking confused for a moment he spun me away from the mirror and started clipping. I didnt get to see anything until he was done and he spun me around to see the final product. I get a pretty basic guys cut done whenever I get my hair cut, and the stylist couldnt seem to manage that. When I got home I noticed several areas that were uneven and sloppy and the front was botched to the point where I could barely style it. Expect quick and dirty cuts here.

Went to get a haircut and color, the person who was servicing me wasnt confident with the scissors, and as far as color goes, The generic box of purple I get from Walgreens lasted LONGER than their crappy "salon" brand. Not to mention it came off on EVERYTHING; my face, my pillow, my shirts. Dont get me wrong regular dye out of the box will stain white things when my hair is wet but this hair dye was rubbing off on everything even when my hair was DRY. Im never getting my hair colored at a salon again. Go back to the box. It lasts longer and it doesnt rub off on everything.

Ive been going here for over 3 years now. Once i found Jake i have never gone to anyone else. Everytime ive gone there the staff has always been welcoming and very friendly. Always offered beer. The main point is that you cant just go to anyone barber shop and expect them to cut your hair exactly as you want it. you have to find someone who listens and works with you to give you what you want. Ive had some mediocre haircuts at other bishop locations in town but never have again since i found jake. Thank you for all the great haircuts Jake and Bishops!!

Not quite sure what all the hate is about, while haircuts are kind of a gamble as you generally dont ensure your barber is person X, Ive never had a terrible mens haircut here, which is really all I care for. I spent an entire year when I moved here looking for a decent place and winded up here. Eventually I came across a barber who even challenged my style, Ariel, and it ended up turning out better than what I usually do. Definitely worth the money and a safer bet than most places in my opinion.

Heres the problem with the Bishops in Portland. I have multiple friends who cut hair at bishops and I know that they give a good hair cut but whenever Ive gone to a Bishops and I get who I dont know its been 50/50 good/terrible. Its like playing Russian Roulette. Unfortunately for a $20+ haircut I would say theres better places or find a good worker and keep going to them when they work, call and ask for them by name. Thats what I do.

Second try at bishops. Wanted to get my "bob" cut into something more exciting after visiting the pearl bishops and getting unwanted "bob". Poor guy trying to get my name for the list couldnt even talk to me over the hair dresser yelling theyd taken the last name for the night. This all an hour and 15 before they closed. Worst part was I called a head and was told to come at 8.

I just got my hair cut at Bishops and loved it! I went in to get a pixie from my bob/a-line and Jakob was amazing! I have never gone this short and was so scared, but he totally walked me through the whole process and calmed my nerves about the whole thing! He was funny and I enjoyed having him cut my hair! I would totally recommend this place for other PSU students!

Ive been going to bishops off and on for the last 10 years. I have rarely had a bad haircut and I have never had a bad experience. I love that they will give your a beer and being able to check on online now is awesome! However, they should really merge the computer system across all locations! I shouldnt need to create a new profile for each location.

Dont go to bishops unless you want a mohawk or a punk-doo because they are completely inept at trimming hair. I went in to get a 1" trim for my long hair; then I had to get it cut into a bob to fix the horrible butcher job. When I got home from bishops, my girlfriend looked at my hair and said WTF happened, did you try to cut your hair with a butter knife?

This is the best haircut Ive had in a long time. On top of being a great haircut, the ambiance was very cool, but laid back. I really enjoyed myself, which is what made it well well worth the additional cost over a bigger chain. Special shout out to my stylist Heather, she is an artist. I will be back.
