Completely unprofessional! I signed up with them approximately 6 - 8 months ago online looking for receptionist or clerical work and was invited to come in for an interview and assessment within a couple of days. I met with someone there (no need to name names because they all trained to act the same way). I had the interview but no assessments were offered. The Staffing person was all smiles and trying to convince me that she was totally for helping me, even saying "This may be a fault for some people but I like to be totally honest and I will tell you if you have a chance with a client or not. I wont string you along." Ive seen jobs I would be suitable for on their website. I emailed the contact person per their website. The person I interviewed with at Express even told me there were 3 companies she was going to send my resume to. Within the time I signed up with them to date, Ive heard nothing from Express. I have emailed 3 people there, I have left messages (that is, if I got a chance to leave my phone number because many times Ive asked to speak with someone and I was told either they were in a meeting or out of the office and was hurried off the phone before I was asked for a contact phone number. Even if they saw my contact number online, they sure didnt use it.) No one ever calls me back. Today, I was on hold for over 10 minutes, finally got to a different person, I tell my situation and frustration and poof! No one is on the line. If there was a connectivity issue, i would think the Staffing person would call me back or wait a few moments for me to call back. No - I called back immediately and was told she was on another line on a call. Ive worked for a staffing agency in Portland as their Receptionist and saw first hand what excellent staffing service is about. Express is not about excellent service. Ive also learned how other agencies work. I came to Express professionally dressed, and conducted myself in a professional manner. And for a receptionist or clerical position, Im not given any assessments nor asked for references? Gee, I cant help but wonder if Express was turned off or considered me unmarketable because of my very neatly styled Senegalese Twists hairstyle. Too unique, different or too ETHNIC for them? Hard to say, when they dont return calls or communicate in any way. I thought you believed in being honest? Now, Im sure they will say they are an Equal Opportunity Employer, blah, blah blah, but we all know that racial profiling is alive and often used and there are some people that feel "a little judgement" is justified, even if they do not possess any facts. I find it comical that there are several names in the review that gives this company 5 star rating. Names Ive seen who work there as staff. Wow UPDATE: I got an email and phone message from the Staff person and she stated that she wanted to touch base with me and find out "where the disconnect was. " Well, the "disconnect" was with YOU not connecting with me for months! Even if companies I "may have been selected for" fell through, I should have been contacted with an update status. If you are switching roles at Express, you should have contacted me and let me know who else I would be working with. I heard NOTHING from you or any of the 3 people I tried to contact for months. Not even a one line email or a quick call. Again, I called, left messages and emails with NO response. Each time I call Im told everyone is in a meeting or out of the office, no matter when I call. So the "disconnect" is you and your company failing to communicate with me. I asked the receptionist there to close my account yesterday, as I no longer wish to work with your service because of this lack of communication and abundance of games, and she said my account was deactivated and removed. Today, you tell me via email, "they have you on their top candidate matrix for openings." Please, again, just remove me from your system. Im done with you. No need to reply or communicate with me now.

5-star reviews are all obviously fake. Ive been signed up with this Express office since the 1990s, where I had continually great temporary assignments, but short and long term, with excellent pay (for the time). I went to re-apply and of course get the same round around. Interview, assessments and then never hear back. They should just be truthful and say they dont actually have the jobs they advertise to have. They have thousands of very qualified people who walk through their doors every year. Recently I sent my resume several times to their office and heard nothing back. I think they just play favorites to send people out on the very few positions that actually exist. The Salem area is horrible for employment. Thats my opinion, at least. If there really was a good economy here, wed all find ourselves in jobs. We wouldnt have to deal with these employment hassles, office politics, petty mind games, and outright discrimination.

They sent me to one job which was great for 2 weeks. Then they tried to get me to go to a cannery with no job description, then told Unemployment I refused a job when my wife had surgery & nobody but me to drive her or care for her. Finally, they sent me to a job working with HAZMAT with no training or warning whatsoever. These folks are nice to your face then screw you. Out of sight, out of mind. Update: Shawn here lied to the Oregon Employment Department regarding how I left the position I was placed at, and it cost me Unemployment benefits. I ended up finding a great job on my own. This place is neither "express" nor "employment" nor "professional". What it is, is an absolute joke!!!

Its a terrible place. Poor service, constantly lying and not helpful. Ive observed this several times, if you are white you dont get any service from them. If you are latino/hispanic or black like a lot of my friends you get a job the next day. If you have having trouble finding a job and you go here it will just make it harder for you to find a job. They are a racist employment company and they should be shut down. Edit: They got me a job, so we will see how it goes. I believe it will last for a while at least but lets not get our hopes up. Thank you for finding me a job even if its temporary.

Aside from the person who helped me find my job, everyone at this place are incompetent a**holes. Bottom line, I would never recommend anyone go through here. They hold the "we found you a job" argument over your head every day and pretty much just treat you like youre their slave. The physically demanding job I got wasnt as hard as putting up with Express, they would call me threatening to take my job away from me, telling me that the business I was working for wasnt in charge of me and that I shouldnt even talk to them and just really going out of their way to make me resent the job.

I didnt even get past the initial phone call to this company. Cariann, was rude on the phone and completely unhelpful . Express is willing to pass on a candidate with over 20 years of management experience because I have been working on my education and not, "volunteering at Goodwill", to gain recent work experience. A little people skills go a long way and someone answering the phones who doesnt say, "um", after every third word would be nice as well. That doesnt actually imply that you have very high standards for your own staff.
