After spending $50 (including tip) at a local independent salon for a basic haircut that wasnt even well executed, I decided it was time to stop wasting so much money on mediocre haircuts. The people there are very sweet, but I am on a tight budget, and I cant be wasting money on haircuts I hate. I went to Supercuts in Avondale with a clear idea of how I wanted my haircut fixed. I explained everything to the stylist, Monet (Monay? Moné? Monae?), who repeated what I said back to me and then got to work. I have NEVER seen someone take such care with my hair, even when getting haircuts at nice salons in the city. M worked very deliberately and carefully, and when I asked for some small adjustments near the end, she happily made them exactly as I asked. My requests involved layering, razoring, and evening out-- this wasnt just a basic cut! Furthermore, she even made some adjustments to the haircut in response to my hairs unruly cowlicks in order to help them lay better without me asking. I went in with no plans to get my hair styled after the cut, but after watching M do the cut, I wanted to see her style it too! I never like how stylists do my hair as I am bizarrely picky about my hairstyles, but Ms was definitely one of the better ones Ive gotten. I wasnt embarrassed to go run errands afterwards, which I usually would be. Just as she did with the cut, M spent great time and effort blow drying and shaping my hair, even pulling out a flat iron to tame one pesky bit of hair. Shes definitely a perfectionist-- just as I am. I cant speak for any other stylists there, but from now on, I plan on returning to Supercuts specifically for Monae (sp?). For $15 bucks less than an independent salon, I got a way better haircut, a better style, and-- perhaps most importantly-- a stylist who listened to my wants and made them a reality. I would have been happy to spend $50 for Ms haircut, but the fact that it was only $35 just sweetens the pot. Im a little nervous at the thought of it, but I may even get some highlights done here in the future. But only by M--! 2 thumbs up. (if it matters, I have chin-length, fine, straight, limp, blonde hair. I cant speak for curly girls experiences here.)

weve had fine experience with haircuts here, and I personally feel they know what they are doing in the haircut department and do good work. However, we had two HORRENDOUS experiences with color... I dont usually write reviews, but I think its good to think twice before choosing Super CUTS for color (maybe thats why they dont call it Super COLOR). The manager did try to work it out with us, and offered to redo our hair herself which we will take her up on once the damage grows out a little more, but for color/highlights, I and my daughter were left with really inexcusably bad hair. Mainly, I was greatly disappointed because I was led to believe the stylist who worked on me knew "exactly" what we wanted, she was very reassuring and I have seen her haircuts, they are good -- but in this case, both my daughter and I had to wear hats for our whole vacation, which we left for the DAY AFTER we had our hair done -- two different stylists did the color. Mine turned out red like Bozo the Clown (when I had stated emphatically that I wanted "anything but RED - even GREY is better than red for me," because I look just awful with red hair), and my daughters highlights left like a "line" across the front of her head, so she could not wear her hair tied back at all - it was just odd, Ive never seen that before. All this being said, they have done great work with haircuts for my sons and my mother. I find the staff to be very nice and generally very competent with haircuts. I hope they will get better at this. It would be good to hear someone had a good color experience there -- some people must be happy with their color, or they wouldnt offer it, Id presume...

I have to say that this has got to be the best salon i have been in! Everyone is so friendly, but a special shout out to Allana, who has an amazing talent. Her chairside manner is one to be reckoned with!!! Friendly conversation, polite, and the biggest smile i have ever seen. Definately will return and im happy to say i have a new stylist that i will continie to support through my patronage. You rock girl!!!!!

Ask for Megan when you go there -(there are two Megans) they both take their time to get your hair perfect. Very pleased.
