I went in for an hour long massage this weekend. Although I have been to Essentials before and had a pleasant experience, I cannot say the same for today. This massage was given to me as a gift and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. I am a nurse and get massages frequently due to my high stress level. I was excited and anticipated a nice session of relaxation today; however on contrary I left feeling nothing more then greasy, annoyed and discomfort. In the beginning of the massage I mentioned to David that the pressure was too much. I am very petite and he said he would use less pressure; although I do not feel like he did. At this point I felt uncomfortable mentioning it again so I just kept going bearing the pain and discomfort out of courtesy. At one point I felt as if he was going to pull my arm out of its socket. As I mentioned, I get massages very frequently and have been to several salons, and wellness centers. It is a luxury that I enjoy and try to make a priority in my tight budget for health and wellness sake. I was a bit surprised and concerned that I was not offered to sign an individualized consent or medical/ social history form prior to my massage today? Most reputable places have the client complete such prior to the session. I was also bothered that the massage therapist did not ask what my expectations were nor address any focus areas; including any areas to avoid. Lastly; while I enjoy getting massages I am not fond of the greasy feeling and messy hair afterwards. Most spas offer a shower or place to freshen up. This was NOT offered to me...so off I went embarrassed and uncomfortable walking through the salon. When I went to pay with my gift certificate the front desk girl could not find it registered in the system and had to leave to go to the office to look it up, adding to the awkwardness. VERY DISSAPOINTED.

Essentials of Doylestown is the best! Their customer service is exceptional. I have been going there for years now. My longest, on going relationship is with Michelle she is an experienced masseuse. Michelle really listens to her clients and is a problem solver. I work in the hair industry and get really bad knots in upper back and Michelle is the ONLY masseuse that can ever successfully remove them. I have gone to other spas just for a different experience and 99% of the time I feel I have wasted my moneys and I still leave with the same problems. She truly cares about her clients and it shows. I look forward to my time with her and aim to get there about weekly. If you need a great massage and are not happy with past experiences give Michelle a chance..she is the best!! As for womens hair, especially, color treated hair Emilie at Essentials is the best! Emilie is also a very experienced hair stylist, that listens to her clients and truly cares. Aveda color line is all natural and not damaging to your hair. I too, have gone to other hair stylists only to pay a lot of money to not be happy with the final results. Emilie will make sure she achieves your desired look or will tell you honestly if she is not able too. I feel like a lot of hair stylist do whatever only to up their over all ticket price. Not Emilie she protects the integrity of you hair and creates a very pleasant experience without you feeling taken advantage of. The essentials staff is truly great. I have gone to many spas and salons and here they really have it all. If you have had not the great experiences here try either Michelle or Emilie!

I went to Alicia at the Doylestown location for my eyebrows a few weeks ago and was so impressed with her that I decided to try her out for a facial. The day of my facial, I was suffering from congestion. I had contemplated canceling my appointment but went anyway. I am SO glad I did! I always had great skin, but fairly recently, I started to suffer from breakouts. After talking to her about my concerns and problems, she picked products to customize my facial to my needs. I also mentioned my cold, and she informed me she would target pressure points and picked out some peppermint essence that would clear my sinuses. The facial itself was the best i remember having. I was so relaxed, the pressure points and peppermint kept me from feeling stuffy as i laid on my back for an hour and she definitely didnt skimp on the massaging of my back, neck, face or hands/arms. She recommended a new lotion for me and hopefully that works well for my breakouts. All and all, Alicia was thorough, neat, knowledgable and she is a great girl too. Go to Alicia for your facials and your waxing! You wont regret it.

The first impression one gets at Essentials, when you walk in, is that this is a well appointed salon. But one quickly realizes the basic layout of the facility is poorly designed. The couples massage room is right next to the salon reception area, and since there is no sound baffling or separation from the waiting area, it is impossible to tune out the incessant chattering between staff and customers just outside the massage room. The actual massage was very professionally performed and relieved stress and tension all right. However, the atmosphere feels more like a medical clinic than a spa. There are no changing rooms, and no showers. Basically, just massage tables, no sauna, and no hot tubs. There was one chair next to the massage table to throw our clothes and belongings onto. After the massage and facial were completed, we just got dress in the same room, feeling muggy and sticky from the massage oil. The package came with lunch but who wants to eat lunch in a waiting room that looks like a medical clinic? We asked for our lunch to go. We simply couldnt wait to leave!

I used to go to Brandi for my haircuts and LOVED her. She was the only one who understood what kind of pixie I was looking for (edgier, not so traditional). I havent seen her since Ive let my hair grow out. I have seen Melissa a few times for waxing and she saved my eyebrows! I was going to those Asian nail salons to have my brows waxed because $7 seemed like a good deal. Slowly, over time, my eye brows became pencil thin and horrible. $16 is a bit hefty for a simple eye brow wax but Melissa was really friendly, answered all my annoying questions about when/if theyll grow back, talked to me about penciling techniques and over time got me a wonderful shape and full brows back.

Chelsea has been cutting my hair for 12 years and I would never dream of going elsewhere. Yes, this salon is pricey but it is worth every penny! I have also gotten facials and body wraps here, all of which have been wonderful experiences. The products are incredible for every skin type (even super sensitive skin like mine), the people really know what they are doing, and everyone is super friendly. If you need a good cut or color, call and make an appointment with Chelsea!

Essentials has been nice to use for the occasional brow wax or (expensive) pedicure. however as a spa, it falls short. the couples package feels cheap (and its not) as theres no real relaxation waiting area to hang out or eat the lunch provided. The pedicure was WAY too expensive when you can just go to dianas or jessicas for 1/2 the price and get a great pedi. theres also an air of snootiness. word to the wise....you collect more bees with honey, not vinegar.
