This is only my second time coming to Hershey Auto Center, and I am even more displeased than the first time. The first time, they were doing my inspection as well as checking what was wrong with my AC. They didnt give me a definitive answer about my AC, but charged a ton to look at it. This second time was much worse. I called last Friday to get my oil change and inspection done. They said they were totally busy and that I could bring it in Tuesday morning between 7-9 am. I stopped in before 7:30a.m., brought a bunch of work and my lunch with me thinking it would only take about an hour at the most, and I could get everything done after that. Then, Don said that it would have to be there for at least half the day, and that I could get it back around noon. Luckily I dont live far from here (the ONLY reason why I go there), and that I can work from home (partly). I dropped my stuff off at home and returned my car (so around 8 am). Ive been waiting and waiting all day, and then I call after 1:00 p.m. asking about it, and he says, "Does 3:00 work for you?" It doesnt work because 1. thats a complete waste of a day that I could have used my car and 2. thats not what he originally said. What was the point of bringing it in so early if it wasnt even going to get looked at until 5 hours later? Not only that, but the manager is often very rude and impatient. I understand that things come up and theyre busy, but theres no reason for the snippy comments. I would not recommend this place and will not be returning.

If you know nothing about cars, and your only concern is getting your car up and running quickly, then this is a decent place for you. However, if you are fairly knowledgeable about auto repair, and it makes you sick to see someone charge four hours of labor for a job you know takes ten minutes, then avoid Hershey Auto. I have a feeling these guys do "menu" pricing on repairs, which means they have a book which tells them how long a certain job should take, and then they charge you for that much labor regardless of how easy your particular case may have been. As the previous review have noted, they are certainly overpriced. When I tried to ask questions about my repair, I was rushed out and Donnie literally just walked away from me after giving me a vague answer. It is true, they are knowledgeable, and I have no doubt they will get your car fixed properly and expediently. Although, if the price is a concern to you, choose another repair shop.

I dont understand the negative reviews about this place at all. They have been taking care of my vehicles for 20 years, and they ALWAYS do the job right! Maybe they cost a little bit more at times, but they also discuss your options with you before they do anything, so its not like they are just doing random work and charging you without talking to you first! The people leaving negative reviews must be used to going to some national name repair place where they change staff every six months and do crappy repairs that dont last. Hershey Auto is a family business that never disappoints! They work on any type of vehicle, and the turnaround time is fast! They truly care about the work they do, and I would recommend them to anyone!

How bad are they? I still hate what I saw after three years! Can I rate them negative! Now I found them online, I have lived in town for 17 years, this is the only shop I know of cheating and ripping off customers. 3 years ago, my car needs to be towed. Police called them, they agree $99, then ask for $299 for weekend charge after arriving onsite, for 1/4 towing. My friend went to inspect his BWW, was told headlight bad, $45 charge. He was skeptical and left for home. After looking himself, found that they unplugged the fuse and even left the fuse next to it. Guess waiting for him to say replace it then plug it in to "fix" him. The owner has a wrong mind set if I can say the least.

the manager (don) was rude, ignorant, and disrespectful. he attempted to threaten me by stating he knows the district magistrate "closer than a brother" and by having an officer threaten to arrest me if i didnt "shut my mouth" (which i didnt , and im not arrested because i had not broken any laws) because i was attempting to retrieve my and my sons belongings from my car that was involved in an accident two days prior. the way the manager reacted was immature and beyond unbelievable. i wouldnt recommend this excuse for a garage to anyone, unless you like your freedom directly threatened because the manager knows the district magistrate and a couple officers of the law. what a shame.

If I could I would give them no star at all. Why? because they are crooks. Never have your car towed there. I took my car there because it would just stop running. They could not find anything wrong with it. They charged me $80 when I went to pick it up. I took it to another repair shop and they found a loose wire in about one minute. They charged me $5. They dont know what there doing all they know is how to rip people off. They refused to give me my money back. I told them I would never deal with them again and I would let everyone know what kind of a rip off joint they ran. Just look at all the negative reviews they had here.

Need More Like This! I used to live in Hershey and would always take my car to this shop because they were always friendly and helpful. This shop has an atmopshere I was comfortable in & as a woman who does not know much about cars, I was very thankful for that! Now, If I am going back to Hershey for a visit (2-4 times a year) I make sure to get my oil changed and anything else that needs done because I have yet to find another auto shop like this one. The last time I was in they were great. They told me what I needed to do now & what was okay to hold off on until I was in town again! I would highly recommed this place.

When my car blew a radiator leak while I was on vacation, this was the closest place. They were great even though they were already swamped. They worked to help find out the location of the leak, gave me some suggestions of other places I might take it since they were so busy, but then they worked it into their schedule and had it repaired and ready to go later that same day. And this included having to get the replacement part from the dealership. Nothing but good things to say about them. Professional, helpful and honest. Id love to find a similar place near where I live.

Hershey Auto Repair was recommended by two friends. We took our car there for an inspection, but was told that a chip in the window would need to be repaired prior to passing inspection. This chip had been there for years and never was an issue for inspectors in the past including two different shops in Hershey. I spoke to the PA DMV and they felt it should not be an issue for inspection and when I told Hershey Auto Repair about this, they became very upset, and were physically threatening to me. They acted very unprofessional and I felt unsafe. I would avoid this shop.
