My dealings with r & d HVAC are sadly stunning and true. Ive not seen a more shyster laden company that these folks. OK, so we bought a house this summer & moved in. I had a question about the thermostat and wanted to be loyal to who put this unit in and serviced the previous home owner. I was directed to chris cavanaugh the "Director" of operations. A service call was set up to check our cooling part of our heat pump. The service tech, timothy frank came out and proceeded to bond with me, like my twin brother. The "set-up" was underway. He tells me we have mold spores and a bunch of other air quality problems. He informs me he can cure all these issues with a Remey-Halo UV Light. So, I was trusting and he installs the unit at a quoted cost of $ 1,200.00 After he leaves, I jump on my computer and see them selling anywhere from $ 495.00 to $ 795.00. I was hood-winked into paying FULL MSRP ! The "fix" was now in full gear. I called cavanaugh and he tells me that he can lower the cost, by providing me the 2017 year of service for free. Little did I know that this is how they perform a standard "bait-n-switch" at r & d. I was being put out to dry, for trusting these thieves. Fall kicked in with cooler weather and I set up one of these "free" service calls, for being over-charged in the first place. The same "my twin" service person, timothy frank came out and proceeded to act like I poisoned his cat & dog. Scowling the entire time, answering our questions with sharp terse one or two word answers, purposely answering our questions, just enough of a F-U to not be accused of being rude to us. Im sure r & d trains all his dirty tricks, from his over charging us, to acting like I harmed his Family. Then it hits me that he gets a extra commission by overcharging for these supposed extra needs, and thus his commission was smaller, leading to his rude and put-offish behavior. Oh, by the way, I had to pay him, $ 160.00 for this "free" service call. So this part has me writing this review to save other potential "bait-n-switched" or past cheated customers of r & d HVAC. I make a phone call to cavanaugh after my Fall service call, in October, no call back. I call again in mid-November, no call back. I call again at the end of November, no call back. I call again at the start of December, no call back. Now I know that the fix and cheat was really laid on me with this whole r & d event. I then try and reach the owner Marty Drumheller three times, (with no call back) to truly find out if he condones this type of business actions by his employees. After these past two weeks, and numerous conversations within the area HVAC industry, I find out that this type of up-charge, lying about air quality improvements, and once caught, never talking to that customer again, is in the un-written mission statement of r & d HVAC. They have all these nice and compelling reviews, from folks who may of been cheated and not aware of it, but for every one of these sweet reviews, Im sure there are some former customers un-like me who choose not to warn others and have chosen another HVAC company. Do yourself a financial & emotional favor STAY AWAY FROM r & d HVAC, or YOULL BE CHEATED AND LIED TOO, LIKE ME! I had to rate a 1 star for this review to be published. My true rating would be a -10. These are the true facts that can be substantiated by my phone records and check book.

This was the contractor who put in the heating/cooling system when we built our house. We had our issues with them before, but we have not dealt with them for over a year. Imagine my surprise this morning, after we had just returned overnight from a vacation, to find an R & D technician at our door. We had not called for an appointment, we had all of our warranty items "fixed" (well, sort of...) a long time ago. I was still in my pajamas with my 4-year-old daughter when there was a knock on the door. My husband was already at work. I was upstairs and noticed the guy, didnt recognize him, and didnt want to answer the door. This guy continued to knock, and rang the doorbell. I still didnt answer. Then he proceeded to bang on my door to the point where I thought he was going to break the door down. My daughter ran to her room in tears while I finally confronted this guy. Freaked out now, I asked him what he wanted in full mama bear mode. His response was "Well, I knocked like 5 times." I yelled back that first of all we just got home from a trip and we werent expecting him. Response: (snide) "Call the office to reschedule." RESCHEDULE WHAT??!?!? WE DIDNT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT!!! He took off and I slammed the door. Shaken, I call my husband who then calls R& D. Apparently this technician was supposed to go to my NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS HOUSE (with an address of 4110, and we live at 4108). Address numbers are CLEARLY listed on the mailboxes. So, this jerk didnt even have the correct house. This guy clearly needs a lesson. If I didnt answer the door the first five times he knocked/rang, why didnt he just call the office, where someone could have called to find out if anyone was home? And then he wouldve found out HE HAD THE WRONG HOUSE!!!! We will never use R & D again just based on this incident. I feel bad for my neighbors who actually needed the work done, because he didnt come back.

R&D is top notch when it comes to their services! I have zero complaints when it comes to this company! From service to sales, and management to reception, I feel completely at home with them! Marty Drumhellar, the owner, has spoken with me on numerous occasions to help ease any worries or concerns I may have had with their services. Their salesman, Ron, is fantastic! He took the time I needed to help me choose what was best for me and my family! He made sure to keep in touch with me during the process, and even makes courtesy calls to ensure everything is still running smoothly and to see if I have any questions he may possibly answer. Chris Cavanaugh is very thorough over the phone, and in person. He gets a thumbs up from me! As for the price of products, everything has a price! Expect to get what you pay for! People need to understand that the final cost is NOT the cost (MSRP) of the equipment alone. There are other materials associated with ANY install from metal work to wiring. I dont know about you, but running anything electrical can cost an arm and a leg! Expect to pay for those things! Nothing is free! Not even the associates time! Yes, you have to pay for that as well. Their installers and service guys get paid hourly, not by commission. If you believe otherwise you might want to pull your head from your ass. Just a suggestion. If you expect something for nothing you will obviously want to bad mouth a company. If you expect to actually have great service and equipment, you understand that it will come at a cost! And being a detective on the internet does not make you a professional HVAC representative. It makes you an idiot with a computer. Different models, different prices, different costs to different customers. In any event, R&D will ALWAYS be my choice of HVAC company! Well done everyone!
