I have been having air conditioning problems. When I came back for the semester, it wasnt working. I called my property manager who then called an outside service to come fix my air conditioner. They fixed it the next day. It worked for a couple days, and then stopped again. Once again, I called my property manager, to have her call them again to fix the air conditioner. It took a couple days, as I wasnt the only one with issues; I get that. They tried to fix it. But it was a cool, rainy day so they couldnt tell how much cooler the air coming from the air conditioner was than the outside air temperature. They told me that they had done what they could, and that if it stopped working again, it would likely need to be replaced. Well, it stopped working...again. Because that is how the world works for me. So the next morning (Wed, Aug 24), I called my property manager. She was surprised that it had stopped working again and that she would call them. I told her that they had said last time that it would need to be replaced. Today, (Mon, Aug 29) I called her around 9 am to ask if she had heard anything about the air conditioning and to have her give me a call back. I left my phone number. Tonight, I arrived home from a long day at school to find that my air conditioning hadnt been replaced. I was not a happy camper, as it is nearing 80 in my apartment. I called her, once again, to ask what was going on and asked her to call me back. She hadnt answered either of my calls. I called my mother to vent. So my mom proceeded to call the realty company that manages the property and get my property managers personal cell number. It was the same as the one I had been calling. My mom then called my property manager. She answered the phone this time. She proceeded to tell my mother that she has one on order and she doesnt know when it will be here. She told my mother that she couldnt find one anywhere in town. She told my mother that she hasnt been answering my phone calls because she doesnt have an answer for me. She then told my mother that if she didnt like the way she was handling things that I could go live somewhere else or go get one myself and put it in myself. I wouldnt be calling her twice a day if she had just told me that she had ordered one and that was the best she could do. I have been living without air conditioner for an entire week now. And my property manager cannot take five minutes to call me and say "Hey, I ordered you a new air conditioner. Im sorry that it is taking so long, but there is nothing more I can do."

I can second Jenna Tilstras review below 110%. I dont know Jenna, but her experience is mine, exactly. As I believe she noted in her review, yes, this is a college town, and generally most college students could care less about the hole they live in for a semester, or a few years, but my experience was SO ridiculous I honestly feel its my duty to warn people, on the off-chance they stumble on this review and are looking at a few different properties when they do...make the right decision. Do not rent from them, and dont rent a place from Barb Iacino if you do. Find another agent there. If ANYTHING goes wrong in the place you rent, and many apartments in that town are pretty old, she will simply ignore you, lie to you, say what she has to, and generally treat you like garbage once you sign on the dotted line so that you just give up on trying to make her do the things she and the owner are supposed to do. Why? So they can save a few bucks, treating you horribly to get you to give up all the while. NO ONE can be that inept. Make no mistake. She was not inept. It was on purpose. BEFORE you sign on that dotted line, like Jenna said...charming. After...I didnt know people could be so cold. And if this review was anonymous, Id frankly tell the whole brutal truth, the horror show that was my life with that place and everything that went wrong, how it either wasnt fixed promptly, correctly, or if ever, the jokers hired to try and fix things, and most importantly how I was treated by her during it all. Like Jenna said, I could write a novel, truly. I dont write this post thinking it will do anything to them, or with hatred in my heart. Not trying to hurt their business. Theyre doing fine...this is a college town. Business will always be there for them from undiscerning college students and others. For myself, I needed a place, found a cheap place, and just hoped for the best. What else can you do? Well, you could read a review like this. If youre reading this, I have nothing to gain from this. Seriously, go elsewhere. You may buy or sell a house from them and have a great experience. They have a large staff. Im sure great people work there. You might rent an apartment from them, nothing is ever wrong with it, and youre fine. But you really are rolling some horrible dice is if you go with them, and especially if you go with Barb. Just dont do it. Seriously. By the way, there were news stories run on them a year or so ago as of this post...look it up...Im not whistling Dixie here. Look elsewhere.

I agree with Matthew and Jenna its disgusting dont rent from Barb Iciano she is Horrible. She is also a liar back stabbing creep! Tries to pin your neighbors saying they are complaining all the time when they have not just because she dont like you. Trying to scam HUD by trying to make renters who get HUD vouchers leave but yet collects the months rent cause she is friends with that Kirney lady and Dave works at Dakota realty to but they handle housing so..... I say go elsewhere. They dont do anything by the book. Not fixing things that need repairs. Blaming tenants for structure damage and black mold from pipes not properly fixing cracked pipes to leaking water and missing sections of pipes including toilet to sewer are not existent. Disgusting customer service. Smiles at the beginning then once you sign you can kiss that goodbye. Rude hateful against renters. Not compliant with renter laws. And I have gotten so many people telling me how Barb scams renters. She thinks she is above the law and likes to keep tabs on renters knowing when there gone so she can enter apartments without a 24 hour notice she rummaged threw cupboards and closets or renters some have come home and caught her in the units saying it was a Emergency giving her a ok to enter your home. So in all no privacy lies upon lies. With the recent crime linked with Dakota realty. Rent from someone else its not worth the headache. And if no one believes this check out KELO land news they did a big article and section of news about Dakota realty not fixing the rentals to code. Now this is why the city does inspections they need to look a little better because Dakota realty does things half ass like there hard wired smoke alarms are just wires stuffed into the ceiling they are not hard wired like they have to be in rental units so they can be rented or they Cant be rented. Just got told Barb was given Applewood court apartments by the guy who owned it who died a year ago in a accident. Funny how he didnt like her was going to stop using her for obtaining renters then he dies but gives her the buildings. They have become so disgusting thanks to nasty Barb. Remove anything valuable she lets her kids take things from your home when your gone. She really likes it when you let her know your going to be gone for a period of time it gives her time to snoop threw your home unlawfully.
