Prior to renting from Gilbert I read these reviews. I decided to give them a shot, because 99% of the time, everyone knows there are no "good" reviews on the internet anyway. I am writing here because I have been renting from Gilbert for a year now and I have not experienced anything bad while being with them. I have been very happy thus far. So, I am pleased to compliment this good, hometown company. I read some reviews that said none of their places are clean. Here is my story concerning this complaint: I experienced the same thing with the house I am renting from them now. This is because the previous tenants had just moved out the day I came in looking. I am kinda picky, so it took me a few weeks to find what I was looking for, but they definitely had a lot to choose from. I saw the address on their available list and immediately knew I would like the area. I asked the lady at the desk if I could look at it and she informed me that it was vacant, but it had not been painted or cleaned and the carpet may be dirty. I asked if I could still see it because their places rent so fast. She warned me that it would not be finished for 2 days, but I knew if I liked it I would have to get an application in soon! She was right! It was a mess! I was surprised at the messy condition and broken items! It is a SHAME how people leave such a mess in SOMEONE ELSES house! I decided I wanted it, if they could get it all fixed and cleaned. So, I applied and made a list of things I saw that was wrong. I was approved with a co-signer and paid my deposit. I was surprised that they had maintenance guys that could get it finished in two days! They actually finished everything I asked and cleaned it before I was ready to move! Since I have lived here, they have always been fast to fix things. The lady up front comes across as not being very friendly, but she is okay. As for Suzie, I have only talked with her a few times, but I have seen her talking to other tenants in the lobby. I have always noticed her as being very respectful. Although it gets very busy at the beginning of the month when people are paying rent, I have never been treated harshly. I have waited outside the door in a line to pay rent, but have still never waited more than 5 minutes to get waited on there. Maybe ya’ll are going to a different Gilbert real estate??

My daughter is 9 months pregnant and is scheduled for delivery today. 2 weeks ago, her property that Susie Gilbert was managing became vacant. Needless to say that the tenant left owing close to 1,200 dollars in rent that Susie did not make any effort in collecting. We went over to inspect the property on Easter Sunday and what a MESS. There were holes in the walls, there was drug paraphernalia everywhere and the place was filthy. Needless to say this ruined Easter and caused my very pregnant daughter anxiety that she should not have to deal with during what should be the happiest time of her young life. On Monday of this week, my daughter "fired" Susie and Gilbert Real Estate for the crappy job they did. We spent all day yesterday repairing doors, walls and cleaning up the mess. My daughter was told by Susie to come by today @12 noon, (which is day my daughter is scheduled to delivery) to pick up her rent deposit and keys. My daughter shows up at 12 noon and guess what, Susie is not in the office. WHAT A FREAKING SURPRISE! Susie had communicated with my daughter to specifically be there at 12 noon. My daughter actually had to stay "in town" to wait around till 12 to meet with Susie and Susie did not have the decency to be there when my daughter arrived after telling her specifically to be there at 12. Today of all days, my daughter should have the delivery of her first born on her mind instead of dealing with this inconsiderate "business owner". I have worked for multiple companies, some of which were fortunate 500 companies and if I had ever treated my clients like this, #1, I would be fired, #2, the business would suffer. DO NOT USE THIS BUNCH OF IDIOTS and perhaps they will become more considerate of others. The really bad thing is, my parents actually were really good friends with Mr. Gilberts father and he would not be happy with his daughter-in-law ruining his good name.

Its fantastic that only the good reviews are shown on the top of the list. The only people the Gilberts care about are the wealthy older people in the community. I have rented from Gilbert Real Estate for years, and I have dealt with the couple on a personal level as they have had to use the business I work for. They dont care about their tenants or the issues their VERY less than satisfactory homes have. I remember my parents renting from this company and having the very same issues. Suzie Gilbert is hateful and rude if there is anything that needs to be done, you know, WHEN IT COUNTS. They are slum lords and the only reason they are in business is because people have to have some where to live. In the year Ive lived in my current residence, my pipes have frozen, the septic tank has never been emptied (which weve asked to have taken care of for literally months), the plumbing backs up and or doesnt drain, the heat/ac unit is broken and wont turn off resulting in 300+ dollar electric bills and the faucet in the bathroom broke to where the water wont turn off. SAVE YOUR MONEY. DONT DO IT. UNLESS YOU ARE A WEALTHY WHITE FAMILY YOU WILL NOT BE TAKEN CARE OF. DONT GIVE THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

We never rented from Gilbert because every property we looked at was filthy, had roaches, or was in a terrible neighborhood. The ones in good neighborhoods are way over priced compared to rent or leases in other towns we have lived in. I have lived literally all over the world and have never paid the amount of rent they ask for properties I would want my family living in. The others are below my standards. The staff there is very nice, until you tell them that you found mold or bugs when you looked at a property, then they act like it is your fault. All the people here who are giving good reviews must be personal friends of Susy Gilbert or whatever her name is. I have talked to several people since we bought our home who have seen the mold, the roaches and the a/c systems which did not work. Gilbert Realty should not manage properties where the owners do not want to repair them. Their care for their customers should come before the excuse that the owners did not want to repair the residences they manage. That is what property management is all about.

I never dealt with these people but my cousin has. According to him he had to have to have a co-signer nevermind the fact that he has lived in Cleveland since 2014 and his last job he was there for two years. He and his wife were staying with friends until they got on there feet. Now he is at Whirlpool been there for I think he said 9 months. He went to Gilbert Real Estate filled out and application and looked at the house he wanted to rent for his family 650 per month 3 bedroom not bad he could afford that easy yeahhh he needed a co-signer smh. Now here is the crazy part my cuz had on him 2000 dollars cash dude makes 15.00 an hour but he needs a co-signer. He said to hell with it and moved to Chattanooga. He said him and his family live in a nice place now. He said once he told his landlord that he worked at Whirlpool and showed how much he makes and the money he had on him in cash his landlord asked no more questions. Thats how its done Gilbert Real Estate
