Kind of surprised to see this shop has more than 4 rating points. First time I went in there to have my sway bar and end link replaced and I asked for quote with only quality (one specific brand) parts. The person at front desk kind of shocked to hear my request and he’s like well we only use our own parts (cheap Chinese junk) so if I need the quality parts you have asked for then price will be more. I goes that’s fine so let’s go for repair cost. I was given close to $700 for front two sway bar and end link replacement. The parts they quoted were way much overly quoted. You can walk in to auto shop and get the same parts (the vendor only makes one sway bar and end link so this isn’t the case depending on parts cost might be less or more) and walk away with the same parts under $150 with tax. I understand they have to run physical business so they have to consider margin in parts but more than double? Wow…..If I have a shop jack then I can do this job in less than hour. Anyhoo I walked away….that gentleman has no ideas I also own a business with way bigger scale than them. Well no point to realize that to him if they do not know how to bring customers in. I instantly decide these guys are ripper and never go back again but I had to go again. Next time I bought OEM tires and wheels from out of state as a package deal due to descent price. Discount tires is one out there known to throw a good price on package deal and lots of people take advantage of good deals. My tires and wheels came in mounted so only thing needed was valve, air and balance. Of course I went in to the next door to them (Firestone) first but their schedule was so tight and cannot fit me in. I am like let’s give this guy a chance again. I saw their mechanic were yawning and only two cars on shop lift while other 4 to 5 lifts were empty. My wheel and tires were loose and do not even need a shop lift. So I walked in (literally felt do not go let’s find someone else) and asked to see if they can install valve, fill gas and get balance my tires. To my surprise the same dude said we cannot install tires if you bring in with you. No problem I understand the liability issue and there is a way to explain the customer about liability issue and al. But the way he said is like I stole tires and wheels and wanted to get it install. Oh my goodness I cannot believe how they judge others. Sure you can afford to lose one or two customer based on first impression you get from customers to keep your doors open but let me tell you this. Franchise business are there for a reason and they serviced me immediately with reasonable price. This is generally the issue with local businesses and we thinks our money is well spent at local business owners. Think again and shop wisely because at the end it’s your money you earned it hard.

If you want to be taken advantage of, and put into dangerous situations by greedy assholes who assume you dont know any better, you should absolutely bring your car here. On Friday, Aug 18 I walked out of work to find my drivers side rear tire completely flat due to a large nail I must have run over on my way to work. One of the guys at work helped me put my spare on and told me "not to let anyone tell me it couldnt be patched" because it was an easy patch. I wasnt worried, because I have driven a crappy car for most of my life, and Ive never felt like I was being up-sold or taken advantage of by an auto shop. I live in Midtown and really did not want to have to drive all the way home on my spare, plus I was going out of town early Saturday morning and I definitely didnt want to leave it on the spare over the weekend. I was worried that since it was so late no one would be able to fix it. Luckily, Mathis Tire & Auto was open until 7. I took my car by and they said they would fix it. After waiting a little over an hour one of the employees asked me to come out and look at the tire. He said there was no way to patch the tire, and that my tires were so bad he recommended replacing three of them (one of them was brand new, or Im sure he would have suggested I replace them all). My car is still under warranty, so my tires are inspected and rotated as part of my regularly scheduled maintenance, and this was the first time I had heard anything about my tires being bad. I asked him if there was absolutely no way to patch, or plug my tire at all, he repeated that there was absolutely nothing he could do, and that I needed three new tires. The thing is, I knew he was lying, and there was nothing I could do about it. I felt so powerless, because I really did not want to drive all the way home and wait over night to get this fixed, especially since I had a ton of things to do. I told him to take my car off the lift and I made the slow journey home. I took my car to Gateway Tire early Saturday morning and they fixed it in 15 minutes at no charge. They told me they couldnt believe anyone would claim it couldnt be patched because the nail was nearly dead center. I will never waste my time here again, and if you dont want to be completely disrespected I would recommend you avoid it as well.

I had some very bad experience with Mathis. It all started with Diagnostics of some dashboard lights on my car. I had ABS, VSA & Brake lights turned on. Mathis diagnosed them and said Speed sensors need to be replaced and alignment needs to be done. Ive got alignment done first and after a month I went back to them to get the Speed sensors replaced. Ive asked the at least 10 times if the replacement will fix all the 3 lights and they confidently said YES. After getting it replaced, they said the lights need to be manually reset as they dont have the computer for that and they dont know Honda cars needs to have that. I have got the reset done from other auto service company and the light came back after driving couple of minutes. When I got back to Mathis, they said it needs to be reprogrammed that too from Honda dealer itself. I spent $130 with Auto nation Honda just to know that reprogramming doesnt apply for the error codes I have on my car. This time as I had Honda report, they replaced with Honda sensors and were able to reset lights (not sure how they did this time). But the lights were coming back. Then they said it could be because of issue with rings in the axle which they didnt find during initial diagnostics. When I went to pick up the vehicle, their behavior was rude. I have asked them to document what their findings are and they didnt do that. Rather upon asking they wrote just 4 words on a plain paper (not even a Mathis letter head). I dont know how professional it is. For the rest of our questions, they were not even interested in answering
