I hope all of the realtors there arent this way, but my experience with Ben Duke was one of the worst Ive ever had. Ben Duke is a realtor/developer at Sowell & Co and bought the place where I was living in the guesthouse about a year & 1/2 ago. He began renovating the property, but thats when the problems began. His workers began throwing away my mail and some was even stolen by them. I had a delivery signed for by someone other than me and when I brought it to the attention of Ben Duke, he simply shrugged and said that he had a lot of workers working for him and if I was concerned about it, I should just ask around. After which, Ben blocked off access to the guest house from the main street and made me and the other tenant drive/walk around the block to the front to check the mail. Eventually, the post office stopped delivery to the address stating that since the main house was empty, they needed to deliver it to the guesthouse where we lived and that they needed to go through the property to do so. Ben Duke refused to help us resolve this issue and simply told us to get a P.O. box, which we eventually had to do in order to get mail. In showing the property, I always made myself available except for a couple weeks ago when Ben asked to show the property on Labor Day. I told him that I would be gone on Labor day, but that I could be available on the Sunday before or the Tues/Wed right after. Ben got short with me and told me the meeting was Monday and no other day. I told him again that I wouldnt be there that day and he said fine and gave me my 30 day notice to vacate the following day. Ben has also failed to do simple maintenance around the property such as spraying for bugs or getting rid of the squirrels that infest the attic. Ben has also failed to fix safety issues such as broken stairs leading up to my unit, after I brought it to his attention. I will be forced to leave soon and it will likely be for the best since I wont have to deal with Ben Duke anymore, but I urge everyone else to avoid dealing with him and hopefully not all the realtors at Sowell & Co are like him.
