I was price checking to see how much they would install a catalytic converter for. At first they seemed friendly enough. They were busy when I called so she had to have the mechanic call me back. When he called me back he gave me a price quote. He asked when I could have it in, so I informed him I would have to wait a week or two to have the money saved up and was calling around to see how much I needed to have. He said that was alright just bring it in when I was ready. A few days later when still checking prices of other places, one person giving me a quote mentioned that my car needed a high output converter (they cost about $100 more), which with me not being very mechanically inclined I did not know. So I called Dicount Mufflers back, to ask if the quote was for a high output.(I did not want to be short because of my car needing a higher part than I knew of) He got smart with me and said he had to be blunt with me and said he did not have time for me to call him 3 times asking for a price quote. Then without another word, he hung up on me. I did not call him 3 times, only the first time a few days before and this day to make sure I had the right quote I needed. Being a mechanic, he should have realized in the first place I needed a high output and given me the right quote(I had given him the make and model and year of my car, and a smart mechanic would have known I had a 350 LT1 in it(which is factory), and if he did not know, he should have asked), making it not my fault I had to call back once, in the first place. With his smart attitude he lost a customer. Not only do I not want to deal with a mechanic who is unfriendly, but I also do not want a mechanic who is questionable as to if he knows what he is doing or not. I want the right part, even if it is higher, and I want a decent attitude with it. For a few hundred dollars, it does not seem much to ask. I am weary of this mechanic, who seems nice at first then very rude and also who did not give the right quote in the first place because he did not realize the correct part I needed. Was he going to be one of the mechanics who surprises you after they have torn your car apart that it would cost more than he quoted? I do not know, but I do not want to take the chance.

Unbelievable experience! Not just once, but twice in the past year. The first time I brought an Acura CL 2.3L that had a bad catalytic converter. Brad and the staff at the location had me back on the road in less than two hours and I was a walk-in with no appointment! A year later I purchased a 99 Chevy Tracker that started losing power and eventually was very difficult to drive. I took it to 3 different mechanics who misdiagnosed and charged for repairs or quoted a new catalytic converter as $670 or more to repair. Once I was told it was the catalytic converter, I went back to Discount Muffler and spoke to Brad. He remembered me from the year prior, my name and the Acura I drove at the time. I explained the situation and the fact that I was on a very strict budget, as this was an unexpected expense. Not only did Brad have me back on the road in less than 4 hours, but he explained how to "cycle" the engine and assured me that the repair was WARRANTIED and would last the lifetime of the car. He was correct. After cycling the engine, I went through emissions testing and obtained my tags. In this day and age its daunting to have a car repaired when there are SO many choices out there. I can assure you with great confidence that Brad and his staff are not only honest, but will only charge only what is absolutely necessary to get you back on the road while adhering to emissions testing standards and practices. So go see Brad and let he and his staff take the worry out of muffler repair! I hope to not have to go back for muffler repair, but he will invite you back just to keep in touch. Which I will do. Awesome guy and great experience. Go see them today!!!!!

The guys here were absolutely amazing! Having just moved to Nashville from New York in January for school, I took a trip to Memphis and on the way home, unbeknownst to me, jarred my exhaust loose. Took my car to Pep Boys thinking it was the brakes, only to be told it was the exhaust and referred to this "great" family-owned muffler shop across the street...only to be swindled by the guy in charge there and told that hed fixed the hanger and welded it back into place...noise was gone and I left happy...until the noise returned 5 miles down the road. Called the guy back, found out he hadnt welded anything, just pushed the exhaust up and told to come back the next day because I supposedly needed a completely new exhaust system ($450-500 bucks). So I called up the guys at Discount Muffler, drove right over, and they were beyond understanding and helpful. They even showed me the broken exhaust hanger and all the spots where the welding the previous guy claimed to have done--he hadnt done any. The guys were so nice and gave me a huge discount on a new muffler (that had a rusted out hole) and fixed the exhaust in all of 20 minutes for just over 100 bucks. So grateful to them for their help and their honest professionalism. Would recommend them to anyone needing any muffler/exhaust work done! Thanks again guys!!

My experience with this company and the employees was awesome. My 2004 Chevy Blazer needed a catalytic converter replaced. Since I live in South Nashville I took it to a local dealer who diagnosed the issue, but wanted $1900 to replace the converter. Im no mechanic, but I knew that was an outrageous price. So I put in a call to my brother who told me about Discount Muffler. My brother said he has used them twice in the past and they were exceptional and priced at what he felt was very fair. So I took a chance and drove to the other side of Nashville to their shop on Dickerson Pike. I was quoted $251 for the entire job.... parts, labor, tax. 2 hours later they called me and I went to pick up my vehicle. I was charged exactly what I was quoted... no surprises. I gladly tipped them $20 additional and drove away. My vehicle runs like a dream. The check engine light is no longer on and it has its power back. Runs beautiful after their work. I owned a service company for 20 years in an unrelated field, so I have a great admiration for Discount Muffler. Guess who I will return to if ever needed, and guess who I will recommend to my friends and anyone who needs a muffler or catalytic converter. No wonder this company is successful.

I called DM&CE this morning for a broad quote on a new catalytic converter for my 03 GMC Sierra which has been slowly but surely dying on me, part by expensive part. I was nervous before calling, because the internet describes the repair taking hours, and costing between $700-$2400!! I had already put $6,000 into it in the one year Ive owned the vehicle and was terrified of another $$$$ bill. To my amazement and unbelievable relief, the gent there quoted me $225 and Id be out in 30 minutes. I had to double check that figure, haha, I couldnt believe it! It was true though! I asked if they had time the same day- he said to come on down. I pulled in and $225 later, and only in 15-20 minutes I was back on the road, and my truck feels almost new! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I appreciate your service more than you know. And will NEVER go to another garage for muffler/converter service. They even tightened a gasket for me that was causing a leak in my muffler, which made a huge difference as well. You guys ROCK! If you need this service done, seriously, look no further.
