I have never actually been to this location as I do not live in Abilene, TX, but I feel I most post publicly about the way these employees helped me immensely today. I am a musician residing in the DFW area, and was mailing my resume and a check deposit for an audition with the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra. After seeing my mailpiece bouncing back and forth between this post office and the downtown USPS locations for three days and the submission deadline rapidly approaching, I called this location to inquire about my package. The employee I spoke to found my mailpiece and informed me that it was set to be delivered one day AFTER the submission deadline, which would cause me to lose out on the audition. She also informed me of another mailpiece which was nearly indentical to mine but from a different sender (someone else in the same situation as me!!!). I quickly informed her of my situation, telling her my mailpiece was time-sensitive and that if not delivered on time, I could lose out on a job. She then, sounding empathetic, told me she would talk to the postmaster about my situation. Hours later, I received word from the orchestras operations manner that my materials had been received!!! I can tell by some of the other reviews that some people have had some bad experiences at this location. Based on my own experience however, I completely disagree with what these reviewers have to say. These are good people. They took time out of their shifts to find one mailpiece in a sea of others in the postal service and make sure it got to its recipient when it needed to. Is that not the definition of 5-star service? If I lived in Abilene, I would thank them in person. Bravo.

Thats right, they never answer the phone. Sent a Priority Mail envelope from CA and the USPS says it left Lubbock 29 hours ago. Nothing gets updated. Thats right, Fedex and UPS might not be perfect, but if your package is stuck somewhere theyll at least tell you where it is stuck, why and when you might get it. When this last happened with me with Fedex, they delivered my package first thing in the AM to my door when it finally arrived locally. With the USPS youre stuck with people that couldnt care less and, yes,with their corruption.

These POOR excuses for humans! First my $100 package came ALL THE WAY from Florida, gets put on the truck for delivery and ALL of a sudden its Not Deliverable, then when I call Customer Service they pass it off saying there is nothing they can do, "I have to call my local post office"...that is this post office...then when I call they either let it ring indefinitely or THEY HANG UP ON ME! and people wonder why USPS is going broke. IM GLAD ITS GOING BROKE! I HOPE EVERY ONE OF THEM LOSES THEIR JOB!!!

Liars, smug, useless. just a few words to describe the abilene post office. this usless govt agency cant even repair a mailbox or issue new keys without disasterously screwing up. one agent knows how to help a customer, the next one will just lie and you could spend weeks waiting for nothing. nice to know when you call them out nothing happens. hope this govt agency dies, its about time to privatize the mail system since usps cant actually be held accountable for their piss poor performance!

they lose ebay items that were delivered to Abilene and then send the item back out to locations unknown then you take the tracking # in and sure enough it arrived, but its gone now. just shrug their shoulders dah its not my problem. You have 60 days to file a claim and they tell you that 60 days after you were in looking for your item. Then you cannot file the claim I go to UPS by Home Depot every chance I get.

Sent my items to Amarillo when I only live 30 minutes away. Amarillo sent them to Lubbock, who then had to send them back to Abilene. My package still has not been delivered, and it should have been here three days ago. Tried to call to make sure they dont send my package to the wrong place again and cannot get anyone to answer the phone! My advice- use UPS or FedEx if possible!
