The first thing youll notice when you walk in is that the office is dirty. I dont mean a few papers here and there, I mean dried spilled drink stains running down the wall, piles of trash and debris behind the desks which are themselves sloppy and unorganized. And grime clinging to most other surfaces. The two people that work in the front, one of them Kevin the manager, dont really seem to care too much about themselves, their customers or the business they represent. This is shown with unkempt attire and lackadaisical attitudes. When and if you call you will be lucky to get someone to pick up the phone. And if you happen to leave a voicemail, dont hold your breath waiting for a reply. The younger gent working the front desk may be able to tell you a thing or two about the paint and/or repair process with their Maaco but in no clear, knowledgable way. This leaves doubt as to wether hes actually received any formal job training. Kevin the manager may even bless you with his graces only to be difficult to understand also as the huge pinch of dip in his bottom lip prevents clear spoken language to be conveyed. My first mistake was ignoring these warning signs. I dropped off my vehicle for a paint job on a Friday, was told Id be done the next Thursday. I show up Thursday excited to see the new look. The younger gent in the front office tells me that before I take possession of my vehicle that I should do a walk around/inspection to make sure everything looked up to par. When I step outside to look it over Im absolutely appalled at what had been done. Massive over spray, drips/runs/blobs of paint, pieces of sticker not removed and just painted over and visible, trim hanging off, debris in the paint, spots where paint had not adhered to the metal and DENTS. Massive dents. Not a dent, or a small dent, but a very large, group of dents. I calmly renter the office and speak with Kevin and show him the horrendous quality of work his shop has exhibited. He offers to fix it, but doesnt even offer an apology for another week of wasted time, much less take the dip out of his mouth to offer a rental or a small refund...nothing. Just shrugs his shoulders like well thats my guys and thats how we operate, no one here takes pride in their work. I needed my vehicle back. I dont have time to sit and wait another week while you guys redo what you should have done correctly in the first place. So Kevin tells me itll be ready the following Wednesday. I call that next Monday to confirm, Kevin actually answers the phone and confirms pick up for Wednesday. Wednesday comes along and wouldnt you know it? I get all the way up to the shop and my vehicle isnt ready by golly! Shocker! I received no courtesy call telling me theyd be a day or so behind...nothing. Kevin tells me itll be ready the next day. Great I love your excellent communication skills and making pointless trips to your shop. When I finally picked it up the next day, 4 hours after they finished it, I find missing trim pieces, more over spray, and chips in the paint. I calmly get Kevin to bring these things to his attention and he tells me "this aint no $5,000 paint job." Excuse me sir but I served this country, put my life on the line and have paid you $900 to paint my vehicle, why are you here doing this job if you dont care about your job? Did your daddy not raise you to take pride in your work? Your painters and dent pullers and entire staff REPRESENT YOU! So when a vehicle rolls out of your shop looking like a giant bag of smashed Arabian assholes, it reflects on you. Youre the manager, take some pride in your work and inspect each vehicle before you deem it done. Dont hire under skilled workers, and if your workers continue to underperform, fire them! Great incentive to do your job correctly. In a nut shell, this Maaco is heinous, their work ethic is severely lacking, their quality of work leave much to be desired, their communication skills are subpar, and they do not know how to treat paying customers with respect.

There are several other auto-painting shops with much better rankings in the local yelp, which its due to pretty bad luck. One reviewer didnt even get any work done here; she only got a high cost estimate, a long time ago. I just realized my yelp review was not visible {no idea why] and wanted to re-post it here. Well, Maaco is far cheaper than other better ranking body shop around and its service and quality is still great. One of these body shops nearby (Luus) is not only expensive, they dont even repaint whole cars and all this wasnt enough they even refused to repaint my car because its too old and not luxurious. Thats none of their business, but on the other hand they referred me to Maaco. I went there a year ago. They repainted my whole with the highest quality and best looking painting, the metallic-looking one, replaced the rear bumper and all the outer beltstrips (the rubbers around the windows) , repaired a headlight for $1830! My minimum saving compared to other shops was $1700! They even did a few extra works, like polishing and oiling the driver door that was quite rusty, it was quite loud and stiff when opening and closing it, now its silent and moves so smoothly! They took 8 business days to do the job, mostly due to trouble finding the beltstrips. That was reasonable, easily made up because they waited extra time when I went to pick my car up on one of the recent rainy Fridays, when people are crazy to run away from their jobs. They waited an extra 45 minutes!

Dont trust this place. They will add extra dents to your vehicle. Major dents. They will paint your headlights and your mirrors and you exhaust tips. They will paint dirt and bird poop into your car. They will tell you its 2 stage when it is clearly sticky, rubbery, single stage. They will tell you 3 days and you will wait a month or more. Do not do business here. You would be better off painting your car yourself. Crap business and crap management. Another reviewer on here bad mouthed Luus yet has intimate knowledge of anothers experience with maaco. Thats a low blow. Ive lived in this neighborhood my whole life. I have done business with both of these companies. Guess which one I wil continue doing business with in the future. This Maaco sucks. Read the writing on the wall. Its almost as if these guys are huffing the paint that going on to your car. Beware!

The absolute worst nightmare customer service and incompetent staff I have ever dealt with. After 6 months and 7 times of scheduling time off from work and family, they still can not fix a simple front end bumper damage, squeaking, alignment, electrical, horn, and creating more problems than they fix! Dealing with their preferred insurance company of the guy that hit me, I now give up. Im rating them and reporting to the Texas Insurance Dept as well. BOTH PARTIES ARE TERRIBLE (American Access Casualty Company) -- Now Im still dealing with the nightmare and the only way I can explain the 4 star rating, well it must be friends and family. Anyone that has gone to the N. Lamar location knows, these guys are high on paint fumes. Stay Away - zero stars.
