Cons: Insane wait times. I went on a Thursday afternoon at around 1 and waited over an hour. No appointments and strangely no phone number to call ahead and see what the wait is like. The place is well decorated and you can grab a free beer while you wait but good god the seats are all so uncomfortable. All hard wood. Theyve clearly sacrificed having a comfortable waiting area in exchange for a desired appearance. They play music a bit too loud. As in, Im having trouble understanding the guy cutting my hair its so loud. They spend a good amount of time with each client for a great price. Definitely one of the best cuts Ive seen and they go over ears, eyebrows, everything. Very specific and and methodical. You dont pay the business but the barber directly (they have no register). They have those square devices so you can swipe a card if youd like. Overall, excellent cuts and a fair price but in my opinion the extremely long wait time coupled with a very uncomfortable waiting area dont quite make this place worth it.

Dont fear not being able to call. I was nervous I was going to waste my time just showing up and seeing if I could get an appointment midday on a Saturday. I only had to wait about 20 minutes for Nick, who was awesome. He listened and gave me a cut the way I asked. I dont have anything against stylists, but they usually end up giving me a cut like they think I want and they usually have some fashionista view on haircuts. Everyone there is a licensed Barber. They have every right to actually call themselves a barbershop. They were friendly, funny, and fun the entire time I was there. I dont write many reviews. I loved it enough to actually get on and write one for this place.

Before finding the Grand, I had never waited over an hour for a haircut. On any given Saturday, the wait is likely close to that... But it is so worth it. The grand harkens back to a slower time, quality time where the process is not rushed. Gave and his team of barbers are all fantastic. First come first serve and get this - no telephone! Much like what you would find in the 20s or 30s. The razors are old school straight edge - awesome experience. Finally to help with the wait you can find miller light in the fridge or Bulleit Bourbon to sip and relax. Uniquely Austin and one of a kind.

I didnt think it was professional to drink beers while cutting and shaving clients. The sign in sheet doesnt even matter, if the barber knows the client they go ahead of you. Wait times are significantly long for I guess regular people. They cut my boyfriends hair a couple months ago and the wait was long but since it was our first time to go we settled in. His haircut was ok, his barber was rude. Went yesterday waited over an hour, watched people get called ahead of us, then left. Wont go back, and I recommend the barbers quit drinking on the job before they catch a lawsuit...

This place is fantastic! This is by far the best haircut and best haircut experience I have ever had. I actually live just outside of Dallas and make sure to get my hair cut here when Im in town. Between the cut, straight razor finish w/ warm lather, steamed towels, and a little shoulder massage to relax you before you leave...how can you beat it? Plus the conversation and atmosphere is just excellent...Gabriel has a great place here and Brendan is top notch! Make sure to stop in...you dont want to miss out and will certainly be coming back.

If youre looking for a barbershop, youre probably looking for a licensed barber first and foremost. Some places have "barber" or "barbershop" in the title, but are staffed by Cosmetologists -- The Grand Barbershop is only staffed by Barbers. Past that, I keep coming back to TGB because of the staff, the drinks, the music, and the smells. Theres just something about the smell of machine oil on a trimmer. Last time I was in, they were blasting some Butthole Surfers over the speakers and werent shying away from the deep tracks.

The people are nice. The atmosphere is nice. But unfortunately no service that The Grand Barbershop offers can justify the wait time. Whether or not its peak time for customers, it always seems the wait time is longer than your average barbershop. And if The Grand Barbershop expects you to wait so long, you would think management could afford a TV and wifi. Unless you love getting a haircut and love to spend a substantial part of your day hanging in the waiting area, I definitely do not recommend this The Grand Barbershop.

This Location has only been open for a month, but its definitely worth it. This was the best $20 dollars I ever spent on a haircut in my entire life! They will also give you an old school shave with a straight razor. They also do beard trims/cuts for $10. Its a very rustic old school looking barbershop inside, but its amazing though. I would recommend this place to any guy especially guys scared to let a barber or salon touch their beard. This is the place to conquer that fear. I will definitely be going here from now on.

I been to a few Barbershops since they been popping up all around town here in Austin; but this one is the best hands down. Its a true old fashion classy joint. Very clean, the barbers all do a amazing job. I been here 4 times and see three of there different barbers all of them cut my hair exactly how I want it. And do it with extremely attention to detail job. They make sure your satisfied. This is a no rush shop. If your scrap for time, I say get there early, if not you might have a good wait.

I have gotten hair cut here for the past 8 months now and every time the experience is awesome. Staff is friendly, funny, and very skilled at thier craft. Ive gotten hair cuts from Nick, bob, and Bobby and each did a perfect job and I have no doubt the others will do nothing less than perfection. There is usually a wait but its very much worth it. They are the only ones I will let touch my hair.

This place is straight out of 1885! Dead animal heads on the wall, "old-timey" pictures and ads for whisky! Brendan and Gabriel are both awesome. The customer service is like hanging out with old friends. Plus, probably the most in-depth, best haircut and neck shave Ive ever had! Glad this place opened up a month ago and is so close to my home! Looking forward to my next haircut!

I went in today for the first time today after a friend recommended it to me. I would say its the best haircut Ive ever had, but it was so much more than just a haircut. From the free drink while you wait, the friendly and talented barbers, to the strong, yet gentle aftershave, this was a fantastic experience. Shout out to Steve for a great haircut and general cleanup!

Are you a man? Then these is where youre getting your hair taken care of from now on. Awesome atmosphere, great barbers, amazing treatment. Straight razor edges? Check. Hot towel? Check. Oh yeah - and its very affordable. Grab your favorite beer and make an appointment right now. You wont regret it.
