This the WORST place ever!!! I arrived 10m early for my bridal trial hair updo and had to wait 20m past my appt time.No apoligies whatso ever. I had to remind them I was waiting . After which the girl who was doing my hair told my updo was outdated and that thier salon caters to mostly white women. For the record I am a light hispanic as I am half white. She said the name urban betty is misleading and they only cater to soft updos and tried to refer me to a salon on Burnet with a stylist named "Marijuana". After an hr of wasting my time and insults she admits she didnt know what she was doing and didnt even want to do my hair bc these are the styles she did when she was 14 and she is 29 now and she wasnt comfortable with the style i chose and then just took my hair down. My up do was not outdated...I have spent months online looking for updos and not only that, I showed her pics of the style before she started. IF she was uncomfortable with the style, she should have spoken up before she started..She was clearly in a rush to get to her next appt, a courtesy she did not provide me I had my dress fitting appt right afterwards and ended up leaving the salon in tears with out a updo .. My mom called thier manager who told my mom that this never happended. Bottom line, the black stylist is a racist towards hispanics. I wouldnt even take my dog here after this.

Horrible customer service. They do not respect your time or your energy in waiting to hear back from them on a simple question. The receptionist was very rude, showed no customer respect or professionalism in her own behavior. The manager, a licensed stylist, refused to come to the phone after being promised that she would call me back. The receptionist, nor anyone else at the entire salon would answer a simple question over the phone and the receptionist refused to get anyone to talk to me, rather insisted that I set an appointment, leave work and drive over in 110 degree weather several days away - just to get the answer to one simple question. Every salon gives a consultation, this does not make any salon special - it is what this salon is pushing to justify a higher price line than other salons. To me, a hip salon is one who would not cause undo inconvenience to new clients in this manner for extra money. I will never use this salon, nor recommend that anyone else go there after the unprofessional manner than the receptionist, manager and entire staff behaved in. I want to work with professionals who genuinely know what they are doing and are kind, confident and courteous to new clients about themselves and what they do. They must have a basic list of services for those who call, every other professional salon does.

I made an appointment at Urban Betty after having debated months whether or not to cut my hair. I was looking for a new hairdresser closer to our new home. I was able to get an appointment the day before, which was great. They called to confirm my appointment after making it online - the woman on the phone wasnt super friendly, but nothing terrible. When I arrived, I was given multiple coupons for being a first time customer, and discovered Id get 20% my cut that day since I was new. I was offered water and coffee, and then took a seat. I waited less than 5 minutes, and then Jaclyn greeted me. We went over what I wanted done, and she listened and offered suggestions. I NEVER get my hair cut or colored. My hair was in terrible shape. Not once did she berate me for not taking great care of it, and she was super sweet and helpful. I got a shampoo, cut, and she styled it with beachy waves after some of the pictures I showed her. I love my new hair, and will definitely be back soon! Thanks Jaclyn and Urban Betty! My only complaint would be that one of the women working the front desk was kind of curt and rude. She seemed to just want to get everything done as quickly as possible to get me out of her hair. Thats really my only complaint.

Two words, holy cow! I was a Toni and Guy customer for 5 years and was absolutely in love with my stylist but when I moved to Austin, the Toni and Guy stylists in Barton Creek were nowhere near as good, even those at the highest "level" available. I just got back from my hair appointment at Urban Betty and I can honestly say that this is the best haircut I've ever had. Hands down. My stylist, Ryan, was awesome! I told him to keep the general length and style but that the rest was up to him. The layers he gave me are GORGEOUS!!! They're so dynamic and beautiful I just can't believe it's my hair. The haircut is perfect! I cannot believe that I've been paying these stylists at Toni and Guy upwards of $80 (before a tip) and Ryan blew them out of the water for only $65. Ridiculous. The staff at the front was friendly and the salon was pretty, but for me it's all about the quality of the haircut, which Ryan hit out of the park! I'm definitely going back in 3 months for the next one. Way to go Urban Betty. Job well done.

I finally decided to rate this place. I had my first appointment in March with Maggie and I had a terrible experience. I had a picture of the style I wanted. I wanted a light ombre and ended up with an amateur "ombre". The transition from dark to light was horrible. There was basically No transition, the colors did not melt into one another. I left the salon feeling Okay but soon after getting home I realized what a terrible job she had done. I decided to call the salon that same week and schedules another appointment to allow her to fix it, HUGE MISTAKE. She left my hair worse. The light parts had dark spots as if she had missed parts of my hair. It was sooo bad. I finally went to Keith Kristofer Salon and they explain to me in deeper detail how bad my hair was. I ended up having to get a COLOR CORRECTION! Because of Maggies lack of training/knowledge. So, her incompetence cost me $400. The salon itself is very nice but I would recommend you stay away from Maggie. I very much regret ever going there :(

Fabulous experience every time I come here. Well worth the money. Marianne, the stylist I see, always does a fantastic job and also always has great product recommendations for me. The last time I came in, my hair was a little winter wind-swept from having to constantly wear hats and whatnot –– she gave me a deep conditioning on the house, a jazzy short cut, and product recommendations that I took and am using. Go see her! All of the stylists are great, Im sure, but shes especially wonderful. Also very down-to-earth, real about her emotions, and easy to talk to. Sometimes, I feel uncomfortable talking about what I want with beauty treatments –– not with her. I feel fine saying "no, I dont like this –– Id like more layers" or "yes, this is wonderful –– lets stop here," and she listens, is incredibly adaptive, and always gives me a style Im happy with.
