If the "Fair" wasnt linked to "Poor" the score would have been "Fair" instead of "Good." I was not impressed by Stars & Tykes but did not have any experience with the staff physically abusing my child per the other reviews. Please also note, these were my experiences for 10 months and ended in the summer. My concerns were the staffing ratios. Too many times there would be 12 - 16 children in the infant class room and I would stay around until the older children were shuttled into their rooms. In the mornings/late afternoons they combine rooms to save on labor so the state staffing ratios are not always followed. Thats a concern for me when my child is one of the more low maintenance children and easy to forget. In addition, many times the Assistant was standing in as a teacher for the classroom where her own new baby was a student. So, now you have higher staffing ratios with a woman whose child is in the class shes supposed to be caring for with other children. It also depends who your care giver is on what services you will receive. If you receive Care Giver A - your child will eat all of their food and be changed 8 times that day. For some reason Care Giver B - can never get your child to eat and their diaper only needs to be changed 3 times... (No, I dont think my child prefers A, Ive watched B and her lack of patience with other children during meal time) The consistency just isnt there. I mentioned my concerns to the director many times and I believe she did truly listen. However, nothing ever changed and it was business as usual. My perception is my reality - and I do not believe Stars & Tykes was a child-focused environment.

Unfortunately my childs stay here was short due to a situation that was less than optimal. I had no direct issues with management; however a one of her teachers physically and verbally abused my child-which I saw with my own eyes. No apology was ever given from that teacher who is still employed there and she even verbalized that "she had dealt with a lot from me". I guess expecting one to do the job they were hired to do is too much to ask these days. Because of the companys confidentiality policy, no update is available. Its rather sad that our systems are so twisted that a person who has abused a child can still be allowed to care for children. If you choose to utilize this daycare just know that a police report was filed by me and it was reported to the state; however, no violations were found (according to the states website). Im happy where she is now, but I would be less of a parent to not try to educate other parents in their decision for their childs care. Im sure the "care giver" will walk a fine line, but listen to your children. If they are suddenly crying when they are being left it is probably for a reason.

The facility and its caregivers are great but the director herself is the cause for this low score. The facility has policies in place regarding criteria in order to send you child home. Well. This director will disregard them all and chose to send you child home based on her own personal uneducated opinion. Thats right. This woman believes that she can make a diagnosis of your child and you as the parent must take your child to the doctor to disprove her. She has done this 3 times in the 3 months we have been sending our son there. On the most recent event she even disregarded a doctors note I provided which states my sons diaper rash was only that, a DIAPER RASH. My MD did not recommend any medications but she disagreed. She forced us to buy an antifungal for a non existent yeast infection. Ridiculous. This director is practicing without a license. Please beware. If you have a job that does not allow you to take off in an hour and not return just to pick your child up for a diaper rash then you will need new employment.

This daycare is great!!! My son started here at 10 weeks and then came back after the renovation when he was almost two. The facility is now entirely brand new with very large rooms plus plenty of books and educational toys. All teachers have been great, especially through the transitions weve faced. Despite other reviews posted, Ive never had a negative experience with this daycare. I cannot speak of the previous director, but the current director is very professional, always available to hear concerns about my sons care or education and is very hands on. She is one if the main reasons I brought my son back after the renovation. I could not be happier with the care and education my son is receiving at Young Stars!

I love this daycare so much. I recently switched jobs, and there are plenty of daycares close to my new building, but Ive chosen to maintain my relationship with Young Stars because I am positive that my daughter is getting the best care. I would recommend this daycare to anyone. Im always shocked that I can call and use my first name and my daughters first name, and they know exactly who I am. Its as though there isnt another child with my daughters name. They answer the phone quickly and they are very personable.
