The most I can give this company is two stars. I hired them to repair some water damage to the outside of my house because outside water was able to leak in due to a poorly built raised garden bed (original builders idea) They gave me a max estimate of about 2100 dollars which entailed redoing stucco work as well as the vertical support studs for the wall. They did not do either of these things and the price was the same. I told them that I only wanted the leaking issue fixed and nothing else. They suggested adding more concrete where the dirt had met the wall which seemed reasonable to me. They mentioned that they could re gravel the raised bed which I told them not to worry about. They refilled it anyway and charged me for it. They where supposed to take off a portion of the charge because they planned on filling the rest with landscaping rocks but by this time I had noticed and told them not to. Now, They seemed to do fine work and it took them three days to finish. My main concern was them doing work I did not ask for and in my opinion greatly over charging me. I attribute this to problems in communication since English was not the contractors main language. They also never showed up to the first arranged meeting to start the work which was also an annoyance since i scheduled time off to meet them. In the end, they repainted the interior wall, replaced the drywall (4x4 section), replaced the horizontal stud at the base, poured new concrete on the outside (2x4) section, and filled the old raised bed with gravel (not asked for). This all cost me 2100. This seems like a steep price for the work that was done.

Last summer I decided to build a small apartment in my backyard. It was struggle to find a contractor because of the budget and the size of the project; most contractors were clearly overcharging by the thousand. Then we met Gemcon and they gave us a very good offer which we gladly accepted. Granted the project took a longer to get done but the results were satisfactory. I had the opportunity to work with them and it was a very pleasant experience. Their workers are all hard workers and most importantly, very experienced people. They built everything from the base all the way to the roof. They also arranged for the installation of the electrical and plumbing system. When they finished constructing the house it was ready to be inhabited. Th kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry room, the bedrooms, it was all ready to be occupied. The AC and the Central heating system were all working perfectly. Overall a very good job at a Fair price.

I was looking for a good general contractor for an addition and detached porch (15x30 both). It was important to me that i hired someone who worked according to city codes and be bonded and insured. Gerry Mijares, owner of Gemcon General Contractors made my experience completely worry free and I appreciate his honesty and attention to details. His quality of work is proven by the repeated requests for business name of who worked on my house by my neighbors. I couldve not asked for more from Gemcon and till this day apprecaite how easy both projects came along.

Gemcon was extremely professional and honest. Product turned out exactly as hoped. We wanted our flooring ripped out, pipes moved, new paint, a wall put up and a closet built into an office space. Everything was done very quickly and looks great. I will be returning for more business.
