Had an appointment with their front office last week and was seriously contemplating on joining until I looked into it more and read the fine print and other reviews.. Their whole payment system is IMO a little outrageous. At the end of the appt we talked about pricing and she gave me their "best" option of throwing down $1200 up front for the whole year which would amount to $100/month. Ok, seems a bit much for a gym and who throws that much money down for something that may or may not be for them? So then she gives me their next payment option $190/month!! are you kidding me? and not only that you have to sign a contract and be locked down for 12 MONTHS. I told her I would think about it and she acted like she was throwing me a bone when she told me about their 60 day money back guarantee, which looks good at first, but there is a lot of criteria to be met or the whole guarantee is VOID and your locked in for the rest of the year. The contract in itself barely mentions the guarantee and what it does mention is sketchy to begin with. The contract states that you must attend 18 CONSECUTIVE classes. Is this just some innocent poor wording..? What else is NOT mentioned in the contract is the fact that their billing company Affiliated Acceptance Corporation (AAC) reports to ALL three major credit bureaus (Transunion, Equifax, and Experian). So like it or not, youre going to have to pay them and abide by their terms for the remainder of your contract or you can walk away with damaged credit. I highly suggest that you with 100% certainty want to be part of this gym before you put the pen to paper!!!!!!!!

My son has been attending classes at Travis Lutters gym for about a year. During this time, he has learned a lot about the art and the discipline of jiu jitsu. He has learned what it is to be a good teammate and partner. I cant put a value on what we as a family have gained from our son being a part of this gym. As others state, the atmosphere is that of a family - there really is a significant bond among the coaches and students. The coaches are incredible athletes and wonderfully gifted jiu jitsu practitioners; but they are better people. They care about the welfare of each and every student - irrespective of their age. We were looking for a jiu jitsu gym for our son but what we found has turned out to be so very much more and we are grateful to be a small part of this wonderful group of people. ---- Since my original post, I joined the gym myself. I am in the beginning phases of learning jiu jitsu and while extremely challenging this is tremendously rewarding. I have had more encouragement and help offered to me as a beginner than I would have imagined. I have a steep learning curve but I am supremely confident in the people and the atmosphere fostered here; I will reach my goals as long as I continue to train consistently. This is a great family and I recommend trying out a class and keep in mind the people aspect of learning jiu jitsu! I hope to see you on the mat!

When I decided to get back into martial arts, I knew of just 4 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts in DFW that I trusted for my training. Travis Lutter was my top choice. I started just 4 months ago, and I feel like a new person. Im slowly losing weight, and keeping it off, but Im gaining tons of strength and confidence. When people ask me why I participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, all I can say is, "I love it!" Ive trained in martial arts before, and I have never felt like I was included in something. At Travis Lutter, I feel like Im part of a family. I spent 10 years at a dojo and knew no one. 4 months at Travis Lutter, and I have people who care about me and want me to succeed not only in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but also in life. 5 months ago, I felt 43. Now, I feel like Im much younger. I try to train 4-5 days a week, and it is quickly becoming a passion now. Im learning from people who are older than I am, younger than I am, more experienced than I am, and who are as new as I am. Everyone leaves their egos behind when they step onto the mat at Travis Lutter, and they all respect that were learning and growing and are part of a team/family. Im just 10 pounds down, but Ive gone from a size XXL to a size M and feel like a new person. My colleagues are amazed at how different I look and act since I started at Travis Lutters school. I walk with confidence, and people have noticed.

Great school with great people and that is what sets a school apart. You know going into that you are going to get top level instruction from one of the most respected BJJ instructors in America. What you may not know is that that is only half of what makes this school great. The other part of what makes this school great, and possibly the more important part, is the students. The training partners are some of the highest level Jiujitsu guys this state has to offer. I have trained at Lutter’s for over a decade now and it has been one of the single best choices I have made in my life. I have made great friends, have benefited from great technical instruction and improved my health immensely from when I started. The thing I really like about his school is that a belt REALLY means something here and has to be earned. I have trained at quite a few other schools during my career since I used to travel a lot for work, and would make it a point to find a local BJJ school to train at. I consistently noticed that whether it be a blue, purple or a brown belt, I always felt that the technical level and downright toughness of our students were at least on par usually better than other schools regardless of where they were. I couldn’t recommend this school highly enough.

There isnt a better place to be at than at Team Lutter. Great Jujitsu and MMA program that includes Muy Thia, Wresting, Boxing, and overall grappling with world class instructors. Jujitsu is my favorite class above all the classes offered at Team Lutter, and Im not just saying that because Im an instructor there. Before I began instructing I was doing as many jujitsu class as I could possibly do in one day to better my skills. The environment was great, I had a lot of help from so many different instructors and that helped me progress so quickly. The instructors do their best to make sure you understand every signal detail to help you do the moves that are being taught and also how to apply the move in a actual grappling situation. You wont find a tighter bond from a good group of people, pushing each other past our limits to overcome our challenges anywhere else. Viewing jujitsu from both the student perspective and the instructing perspective has unleashed the different depths the world of jujitsu has to offer. I wouldnt want to go anywhere else!

Travis Lutter BJJ is one of the most professionally run organizations I have had the pleasure to be a part of. There is an opportunity for me to train every single day. Work does not give me many opportunites but Travis structures the schedule so that everyone can find days and times that will work. The best part of this school is the people. The black belts train with us and give us multiple views of techniques for all our different styles and backgrounds. This is an environment of respectful and dedicated Brazillian Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Travis BJJ is home to TXBJJ tournaments which can help you transition into competitions. * In house tournamnets * Kids, Beginner, Advanced, and Competition classes * Black belts teaching and training with you * Could you ask for more? There is something special happening right now at Travis Lutter BJJ. It is hard to explain but we have a great group of people training and you will look forward to coming to train, compete, hang out at fight night and lunches out after ranking day. Come be a part.
