My experience with this gym was Ok at first. I joined in after trying out their "free trial" which means you take a tour with one of their reps, and then they try to pressure you into one of their packages. (basic sales stuff) I had a few friends that went here regularly, and so the workout was good due to the company and not the outdated equipment. I had been there on several occasions where their fitness equipment was malfunctioning, or in one case where there was water dripping from the roof into a bucket next to one of their treadmills. Im pretty easy going, and so initially it didnt bother me too much. I was already signed into a contract with them and it was nearby so I figured there was nothing else I could do. When you sign up if you do be sure and have a check ready. I had my account initially set up for auto withdrawl using a debit card and when it was replaced due to a fraud instance where the banks replaced all cards within an area, I did not even think to update them when it happened, and so it went into nonpayment for a month. I went in for my next workout and was notified by the desk clerk that my account was past due. I realized what had happened, and paid the late fee and the return check fee which they put on my credit card transaction. (I later checked with my bank and they stated that their vendor charges no fees for this so fitness 2000 pocketed those charges apparantly). I was guilty of not following up so I didnt think it was a big deal. Next month comes along and I get notice from their office stating that my account is past due again. I call the number on the line and they direct me to the lady who handles these issues. Through the conversation I found out that the desk agent charged me for the balance, set me back up using a checking account for processing, but due to the processing time, they tried to process my invalid card again and chaged me another return check fee and a late fee. The lady then argued that the bank charged the returned check fee to them, which I had already found out does not happen unless it is an actual check. I told her that I was willing to pay more last month if the representative would have told me I needed to since I had the money readily available. She then informed me the rep would not have had any way to pull up the statement to tell me that it was going to try to autodraft the next day after I had made the payment. They refused to credit my account for the return check fee and the late payment fee. I later spoke to Moe, the owner, and he offered to waive the late fee on one of the charges. I was appauled at how poor the customer service was. I owned the fact that I didnt update their system and accepted those charges, however the front desk clerk should have had the means to tell me that I had another one coming up and that the autodraft would not take care of it in a timely manner. When they did not, any further charges on the cancelled card should have been cancelled. I deal with similar issues in my job on a day to day basis, and this was a prime example of poor customer service. The staff at the front end is usually very friendly, and Ive never had a problem with them. Unfortunately I dont think they have all the tools to provide the customer service that might make this place competitive with the myriad of other gyms in town which have more updated facilities and equipment. When it comes down to it, I would not reccomend this gym to my friends.

Been going here for almost a year and I enjoy it for the most part. The staff is pretty friendly and if you go at least semi-regularly they start to know you and your name and make you feel welcome each time, you can feel the closeness of the members & staff there that you cant see at other gyms. Even my first few days there I met a few pretty cool people so the members are generally friendly with one another also. The owner Moe is pretty fair and will joke around with you. Yeah the building and facility is a little old and run down but they do their best to keep it clean and make improvements and are adding new and more modern equipment to replace some of the older stuff. The place is also very diverse which I really enjoy. You can meet all sorts of interesting people from all walks of life. Overall theres not a lot of yelling, screaming, grunting, or intimidation tactics although a few of the members do talk kind of loud and cuss every few seconds and that can get annoying. In reply to a couple other negative reviews. Ive never noticed any marijuana smell there so if it did happen Im sure it was a very isolated incident and Im sure that doesnt happen on a regular basis. And about the place being "ghetto", I dont see it, many of the people are respectful and well mannered when I go, and the place just recently got some good and updated equipment. Overall I would recommend this place to others, its a little cheaper than the so called "better" gyms in town and its never crowded when I go and even during their peak periods theres plenty of room to do stuff. The people (staff and members) seem to be a little more "normal" too and not stuck up plastic people or roided up screaming meatheads in some of the "nicer" gyms. It even has a pool, hot tub, and dry and wet saunas too which is a nice bonus. Yeah the place is not perfect but what place is?

Although some of the equipment is older, it is maintained. My husband and I love it because there is hardly ever any waiting for a machine or weights. We also like that there is a large variety of workout options. My husband lifts and I like to do cardio and swim. In our previous gym experiences (at other facilities), it seemed to be good for one of us, i.e. enough weights but limited cardio or no pool, or enough cardio and a pool but limited weights, or not enough of either therefore causing us to have to wait for machines. At Fitness 2000 there has never been an issue. I would have given it Five Stars BUT for a couple of reasons. First, the pool really needs to be drained, scrubbed, and repaired. Secondly, hardly anyone ever reracks their weights no matter the fact that there are signs everywhere and you are told when you get a membership to do so. Sometimes, you spend time having to look for the right size of weight plate, which is annoying! I would suggest that at least once a day the staff (which I know is limited) go around and rerack the weights. And finally, We didnt think it would be a problem but it has been several times. Although they advertise 24 hrs, they really arent. My husband is 3rd shift and therefore is awake at nights when he doesnt work and sometimes he wants to workout but if it is a Friday or Saturday night he cant because they close from 11PM to 7AM on Friday and Saturday nights. The reason that was given was that people where sneaking down and having pool parties. BUT, wouldnt it make more sense to close just the POOL from 11PM to 7AM on Friday and Saturday nights? That way people who are serious about their workouts and need to do them at night, can come and get their workout in. I know that no gym is going to be perfect unless you build it for yourself. But, this one has a lot to offer but could improve on those three things.
